“Can I post this?”
Julien looked up from where she was laying between Lucy’s legs on the couch, and saw her holding up her phone. A picture Phoebe had taken of them the night before was displayed across the screen. It was them in their halloween costume, Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande, which was all Lucy’s idea, of course.
The photo was a perfect recreation, from the clothes and accessories down to the potted plant in the background, Julien had insisted if she was going to partake in this costume, it would be done correctly.
Julien just looked at her for a second, and then replied with a confused, “Yeah?”
Lucy smiled, softly laughing to herself.
“I just wanted to make sure you were comfortable with it, I mean, it’s kind of a hard launch.” She said while opening up Instagram.
“And, what, everything else we’ve done hasn’t been?” Julien asked with her usual wide smile, still looking up at Lucy as she watched her scroll back through her camera roll to compile the picture, along with the inspo, into a post.
Lucy laughed again at that. She put her phone down on the coffee table and wrapped her arms around Julien’s, resting her head into her shoulder.
“I guess you’re right, although I think some of the fans are still gonna call us ‘best friends,’ they like protecting the image.” She said, humming softly when Julien reached her hands up to hold onto her arms and rub soft circles into them.
“Well they aren’t wrong, you’re still my best friend, we’re just also dating.” Julien said matter-of-factly, “They can choose to just take it at face-value, or not, but I think it’s pretty clear with what we’ve shown, it’s just what they want to believe.” She replied.
“You’re so philosophical, I love you.” Lucy chuckled, reaching over to pick her phone back up.
“I just said words, that wasn’t even wordy or deep, Luce.” Julien said with a slight hint of amusement.
Lucy scrolled through the comments and laughed at a few.
“Kelli says ‘thank god;’ Finneas says ‘Holy shit;’ Naomi says ‘unreal;’ and… Ah, Phoebe says ‘electric.’” She read aloud.
“Well I’m glad they liked it, but, for the record, I’m never doing that again. My head still hurts from that ponytail.” Julien half-joked.
“But you looked so hot in those boots…” Lucy whined, remembering how she felt when Julien first walked out with them on.
“It wasn’t just the boots you liked, don’t lie.” She laughed, knowing the oversized hoodie had also drove Lucy crazy all night.
“Okay, but you don’t get to lie either, because you had a bag full of Tootsie-Pops on your person at all times, it was not that bad.”
Lucy retorted back, but then decided she wanted to compliment her more than anything.
“I liked it all, JB, because I like you, and I like all of you.” She said with a smile, to which Julien just rolled her eyes and leaned up to give her a soft kiss, before laying back down against her chest.
She loved this woman with all of her heart, truly.
