Summary:

The one where Clock has a cold and his team comforts him.

Work Text:

"Ughhh…"

Clock's voice sounded more nasal and tired than usual, not like anyone else was in the room to hear it.

Clock was in his bed. He was feeling under the weather today, so it wasn't out of the ordinary that he would have low energy. In fact, right now he was so weak and trembly that he couldn't stand up without his legs wobbling and looking like they would give out under him at any moment… so he just stayed in the comfort of his bedroom for the time being.

It was a pretty calm place. The only sounds that could be heard were Clock's occasional sniffling, coughing, and sneezing, as well as the faint noises of the TV.

Clock had a TV in his bedroom, and currently, it was playing a nifty little show called Inanimate Insanity. Season 1 to be exact. Clock normally didn't care much for this show, but it was better than the boring stuff that was playing on the other channels that he knew of. Besides, even if there was something more interesting to watch, Clock didn't feel like he had enough energy to change the channel.

"Eh, this is watchable," Clock muttered to himself as he began watching the TV which was previously used as background noise… until he heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." Clock said in a sick-sounding voice.

Clock barely managed to stir and also move the blankets off of him so he could actually see who was at the door. The door opened, and Clock greeted the object who was now standing in the doorway.

"Oh, h-hey Icy. (Sniff)"

Ice Cube looked at him with an expression that said 'you ok???' before replying.

"Clock, you've been in your room for the entire day and you sound really loud when you sneeze. We can hear it throughout the whole house."

The house wasn't small at all, but to be fair, just about any sound that was loud enough could echo around and be heard in many of its rooms. Clock chuckled to himself.

"S-sorry about that. But– (sniff) I'm fine, all I have is a bit of a– (cough) cold."

Ice Cube was unsure, and took note of how congested Clock's voice sounded among other factors that pointed to him being sick.

"O-oh, I need more tissues (sniff) I'm just gonna go and get those real quick–" Clock began before Ice Cube stopped him.

"You obviously have a cold, you gotta rest," she began heading towards the door again until looking back at Clock right before she left. "I'm gonna go get Bottle to help, so stay right there."

Ice Cube walked out the door and closed it behind her. After this, Clock decided to turn off his TV, leaving himself alone with his own sniffles. He sniffled again before burying himself in the blankets, until he heard the door open. It was the one and only Bottle. (Wow who would have guessed)

"Here already?" Clock thought as he heard the glass bottle in front of him greet him.

"Hey there Clock, how do you feel?"

"Terrible," Clock groaned as he once again moved all the blankets and sat up in his bed.

"Sorry to hear that…" Bottle said as she put her hand over Clock's forehead. "Oh my goodness, you're burning up Clock. You sure you're comfy with all of these blankets?"

As many different temperatures as Clock felt, he did not want to be removed from the blanket pile.

"(Sniff)– (sniff)... Y-yeah, it's really cozy–"

Clock suddenly sneezed really loud, which reminded Bottle of something.

"Oh, I almost forgot," she pulled out the box of tissues Clock had asked for previously. "S-sorry, my brain can do that sometimes!"

"Nonono, it's fine. Thanks."

Clock then proceeded to blow his nose with one of the tissues. When he was done, he took a big breath through his nose. His sinus was still very congested and no amount of nose blowing would fix that, but he still felt a bit of relief.

Bottle moved the trash can closer to Clock's bed so he had a place to put his used tissues.

"I'm gonna go get you something to eat, be right back."

Bottle left the room and once again left Clock alone with his own sniffles. He didn't mind, although it was a bit lonely being all by himself in a mostly quiet room. He found it calming, almost calming enough to fall asleep… so he began to bury himself completely in the pile of blankets and slowly drift off to sleep.

Clock was woken up by Bottle, who was holding a bowl of something.

"Psst. Hey, Clock! I got your food!"

"Mmm… huh?" Clock shifted under his blankets and popped his head out just enough so he could see Bottle in front of him. He then unraveled all of the blankets and Bottle helped him sit up by leaning against the pillows.

Bottle then gave him the bowl she was previously holding. He looked down at the bowl in front of him. It was warm noodle soup. "(Sniff) Thanks…" he thanked the glass bottle in front of him, before carefully picking up the spoon with his foot.

After Clock was done eating, he thanked Bottle again for the food.

"Thanks again for the food…"

"Ah, no problem. I'm gonna go now, but if you need anything, just let us know, okay?"

"Sounds good." Clock agreed as Bottle started leaving.

Clock was feeling content now. Even though his insides felt annoyed with him, he just couldn't help but feel happy right now. In his previous team, The Losers!, if Clock was sick, then nobody would have likely cared. But here, it felt nice to be treated well by his teammates when he was feeling under the weather.

Once again covered in blankets for maximum comfort, he smiled before fading out of consciousness and falling asleep.
