On many occasions Cassidy would have gotten away with it, she didn't think she was really doing this, preparing a birthday party for Hanzo Shimada or as he liked to call him the archer who stole her heart.
Yes, maybe in the beginning they didn't get along well, practically their first meeting was one of the most awkward; in Cassidy's mind she only thought if this guy really deserved a second chance, they barely spoke but one afternoon in one of Gribalta's balconies she found that archer alone, and the only thing she could do was to give him company.
From then on everything progressed incredibly fast, from friends to lovers, Cassidy did not deny it, they fell in love and now they are together. A little open secret for the rest of the overwatch members.
Everything was going great, but it wasn't until the birthday of his best friend and Hanzo's brother, Genji, that he found out one of the thousands of secrets that his archer still didn't want to reveal, his birthday.
It was at the ninja's party, many of the members were already drunk, and to Cole's surprise he didn't believe that his lover was already asleep leaning on his shoulder, on the other hand Genji was already so drunk that it wouldn't be long before he would likewise fall asleep from the excessive amount of alcohol inside his body.
"You know friend, I'm really glad you're with my brother" his tone was of an euphoria that even Cole didn't know he had "although it always bothered me the fact that you're sleeping behind our backs" for Cole this was no longer a surprise, they were never subtle but for him he didn't care however he didn't announce it publicly to respect Hanzo, he hoped he was ready to tell each other in public affectionate nicknames or that's what the cowboy hoped.
"I still can't believe that in a few days Hanzo will be forty years old" Genji spat without an ounce of remorse "he's already old poor guy, but don't tell him I told you, he's never celebrated his birthday in decades" and so the cowboy was stunned, Hanzo will be turning forty soon.
" Genji" he shook his friend a little without moving so much as he didn't want to wake up the archer "Genji when will his birthday be".
" November third" he could only mumble as the next thing that happened he will fall asleep but it was loud enough for Cole to hear it.
After a few days Cole was pacing back and forth,many wondered where he was going and why he was in a hurry. Hanzo simply gave him a vague explanation but Hanzo didn't want to inquire so as not to disturb him.
With Cassidy he could hardly think of several things at once, maybe that's why he had many lists with several things written down on them and his next destination was Winston's office.
But he didn't realize that when he entered he would find Genji and Kiriko talking to the gorilla; but he didn't have time to process this because when he entered he caught the attention of the individuals present.
The atmosphere was not the best if it could be described that way but just as he was about to speak it was Winston who broke the silence "can I help you agent Cassidy" the serious tone made the atmosphere more tense but the cowboy was not going to back down.
"This one, I was coming to discuss some business with you" even he didn't know why he was talking so formal, may be he is in front of his lover's loved ones (if he couldn't call him boyfriend what other term could he use, he often wondered)
"and that matter has nothing to do with Hanzo" mentioned with a certain part of malice the young Kiriko, with that was enough for Cassidy's posture to change and with that Genji decides to speak "I know Hanzo will kill me and this time he will mean it if he finds out I told you about his birthday, but I think it's time for him to finally celebrate his birthday and I know you" she pointed with emphasis to Cass " you will make him the happiest man here"
"How?" barely Cassidy is processing the fact that Genji and Kiriko are hinting to him that they will help him with the preparations for Hanzo's birthday.
They also got the go-ahead from Winston promising them all not to send them on missions these days.
With this Cassidy and the rest will come up with the best birthday party for the dragon, their dragon.
