The Wings May Tell

Summary:

Phil knows Missa isn't courting him. He is 100% sure of it. His crow insticts however. Not so much.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Phil is going crazy over the fact that his bird brain thinks Missa likes him. Chaos is afoot.

Notes:

Hi! This is a short story about Missa driving Phil crazy.

THIS IS ABOUT THE CUBITOS NOT THE CC's.

If I am asked to take this down by either party I will oblige.

All Phil's crow insticts in this are my own ideas, I don't know if they are actually true.

Enjoy lol.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was a mistake.

That was what Phil decided it was, it was just his silly crow brain making up these weird feelings that never seemed to leave.

It wasn't that Missa was bad, it was far from it. The problem was that he was to good at all the right things.

It was just instinct, Missa could sing beautifully and would do so to their son Chayanne at night. It messed with him and his crow brain alot.

Crows would sing to others as a way to show they were interested in courting and Phil was going haywire whenever the man sang.

He understood that Missa wasn't trying to court him and didn't know what it meant to his bird brain, but that didn't stop Phil's wings from puffing up and his pupils getting larger whenever it happened.

His wings were the main problem. They always showed his true thoughts, when he was pretending to brush off Missa's compliments his wings would puff and shiver in joy.

It became a problem when he thought about Missa too. It could be something as simple as thinking about showing the black haired man the potato farm and his wings would show his endearment towards the reaper.

This bought up a whole new problem however, as his wings were getting more active during the day they started needing to be preened more often.

Phil had always enjoyed preening. It was calm, therapeutic even. Well it was till he tried to reach the feathers in the back, those he usually needed help with but he tried his best.

No matter how badly he longed for it he couldn't ask Missa to help him preen. Avians asking someone to help them preen was the equivalent of asking them to date.

He would just have to live with it he decided.

Then the trinkets started.

Missa began coming back from adventures with gifts and treasures for Phil, they could be anything form a material he needed to something Missa thought he would like.

First was the broken disc.

Phil had been farming when Missa showed up, when Phil turned around to face him the disc shards were shown in front of him, resting delicately in Missa's hands.

"I thought you would like it?" Missa asked Phil sweetly.

"Oh um thanks mate, I'll add it to my collection!" Phil replied quickly.

That was a lie.

He knew exactly where it was going to go.

Later that night, once Missa had left on another adventure. The disc was carefully placed next to his bed, Nest?

Then it was the golden apple, Missa was excited about that one. It matching his brand and all.

But after a few other things it was the emerald.

That one made Phil a little emotional when he held it afterwards he soon made it into a small charm that could dangle off of his hat.

Phil couldn't deny how happy he was every time he got to put a new gift next to his nest. It was definitely a nest at this point with all his small treasures from Missa, and maybe one or more of Missa's shirts. But we don't talk about that.

A while after that Missa started staying at the house longer before going on another adventure. During these times Phil would sleep on the bigger bed in the upper part of the house with Missa.

This was totally just so he could make sure Missa was safe and not in danger during the night.

Totally.

And if in the middle of the night they drifted closer to each other to the point where Phil was laying pretty much ontop of Missa.

That was no ones problem but there's.

Notes:

:D

You made it to the end!

There may be a second story from Missa's point of view and a third where they finally confess but for now this is all I've got.

Have a good day/noon/night!
