give you my wild (give you a child)

Summary:

Nacheban are Raúl's dads, that's it that's the story

Work Text:

Esteban had just finished undoing the last button on Nacho’s shirt when his phone rang.

“Let it go to voicemail” Nacho mumbled against his skin.

He didn’t need to ask, it was obvious that Esteban wasn’t going to let anyone interrupt their moment. He had known for a few weeks now that Nacho was alive, and now with the amnesia and the whole issue of that girl Gabby all sorted out, they planned on spending every second of every day making up for the lost time. So yes, Esteban fully intended on letting the call go to voicemail, even more so now that Nacho was shirtless in front of him.

But then he sneaked a peek at the caller ID, just to make a mental note on who he needed to call back, and saw Raúl’s smiling face along with his name. Esteban couldn’t just ignore it.

He was well aware he had been a shitty father to Gloria. He always blamed her clear preference for her mother and his faulty relationship with his own father but now he knew and accepted he had a major role in it. He was so worried about his own life and problems that he failed to be there for her. So when Raúl lost Nacho and was struggling, Esteban put aside his own grief to try and be there for him. He would check up on him daily and make sure he was getting out of the house every once in a while, and once he went on the road trip with Estrella (something Esteban hadn’t really understood the purpose of, but it made Raúl happy so he didn’t make any comments), they talked on the phone every day.

He hadn’t told Nacho anything because he wasn’t sure how his boyfriend was going to react. The last thing Esteban wanted was for Nacho to feel like he had stolen his son from him, so he tried to schedule the calls with Raúl during times they weren’t together -something that was rarer and rarer each day- so Nacho wouldn’t feel left out.

But he couldn’t kick him out of the room now and he couldn’t ignore Raúl’s call, his heart just wouldn’t let him. He pushed Nacho on their bed so he could reach the phone without having to leave their embrace, and shot him an apologetic smile before pressing the answer button.

“Hola” he couldn’t get another word out as Raúl started rambling at the speed of light in a tone that Esteban recognized as his I’m about to cry voice, which worried him more than he liked to admit. He knew Raúl was a sensitive boy but he still hated to see him sad.

God, he really had gone soft.

“Calm down mijo, I can’t understand you” under him, Nacho froze and stopped kissing his neck but before Esteban could try to analyze why Raúl was back at his fast rambles about swamps and haunted houses. Once he calmed him down, which took around 15 minutes and a lot of convincing that there was no such thing as ghost alligators, Esteban finally hung up.

“Now,” he said turning to Nacho with a sly smile ” Where were we?” he moved to kiss him but the expression on Nacho’s face made him pause.

“Is everything okay mi amor?”

“Was that Raúl?” Oh no, was he mad Raúl had called him instead of Nacho with his problem? This was exactly what he was trying to avoid.

“Yeah, sorry did you want to talk to him? I can call back, I’m sure-” the rest of the sentence got swallowed as Nacho pulled him in in a tight hug.

“You called him mijo ” his arms squeezed Esteban even more, in the way that always made him feel safe and protected- “Te quiero tanto, I love you so so much “ -and loved.

“So you’re not mad?”

“Mad? Esteban, this is all I’ve ever wanted, for us to be a family.” he melted into Nacho the same way his heart did.

He couldn’t believe after everything they went through they were finally together. A family.

And so Esteban found himself smiling at a word he had never until now associated with good and happy feelings.
