Work Text:
They're floating in the sky, falling quickly. Ochako's quirk has given up, she's tired, but she holds on to Himiko with all her might. She's just confessed her love, she feels lighter than air. Maybe it's the blood loss or the feeling that she lied to Himiko to get her to calm down. Yet, Ochako can't help but feel like she didn't really lie.
Ochako can't forgive her for the atrocities Himiko has committed, yet she sees in her eyes that she did it out of pure need. Ochako understands that. She became a hero for pure necessity of earning money to survive. She thinks she loves Himko.
Growing up, Ochako never knew she could love another girl. There were hints, sure, but she loved Izuku, right? I mean, that's the trope she follows. Fall in love with the kind boy, because she's his first friend. It's how the world works, it's how she should work. Because she's supposed to be normal like Mina or Toru. But she looks at the love Kyouka and Momo have and she feels a way that feels strangely like longing. And she thinks maybe she can love girls. She doesn't have to be normal, she can look at women or watch that music video about Sapphics over and over again and still be Ochako. Maybe she can love Himiko.
Himiko grew up in a different way, she loves with such intensity that it scares. But it's not scaring Ochako, it's never scared her. But, Himiko is a villain and they can't be together. But, God, does Ochako want to hold Himiko and kiss her and do whatever else lovers do. She wants Himiko in a way she's never desired. Not even with Izuku, whom she thought she loved. Was it love or did he just give her attention? Ochako thinks back to other boys she's liked and there's always a common denominator. She stops liking them once they show something too masculine. Izuku is slightly feminine, could Ochako only like women? It makes sense when she thinks about it.
They're still floating and she's trying to distinguish her feelings for Himiko when they've hit the ground. She's in pain, she hurts all over. Blood is gushing out of every wound and she's dying. She sees Himiko's face and she's frantic. She seems to be contemplating something in her mind, Ochako knows what she's going to do. She's going to be a hero in her last moments. Himiko drinks her blood, Ochako cries out her name. No, please don't do this. She's just discovered her feelings. She wants a life with you! But it's futile, Himiko takes her needle and puts Ochako' blood into herself. She loses all blood, it'll kill her. No, please, don't do this Himiko. They can be happy together, it can be fixed.
It doesn't matter. She's gone, and Ochako's first love is no more. She's discovered more about herself these past few minutes than in her entire life and it's all because of the cold, lifeless girl in front of her. She's devastated, she loses consciousness. Tears staining her face from the lost of her first love.
