Work Header

just another cozy evening

Summary:

Do you ever wished for Crowley to realize earlier what he was feeling for his angel and why the hell he didn't just told Aziraphel earlier? Maybe in the f****** four years after the almost apocalypse? Well I did. And I regret nothing.

Notes:

because she introduced me into the fandom even when I was very negative in the beginning. Love you, my dear!

I am not a native English speaker, so let me know if there is something wrong or sounds weird.

The room was flooded with warm candle light. The angel and the demon sat together in cozy proximity, two glasses between them, one empty bottle on the floor, one half full bottle on the tartan tablecloth. Aziraphel's face was already red from the warmth and the alcohol in his system and Crowley was intoxicated by his sweetness, trying very hard not to stare at the heavenly appearance in front of him too eagerly.

It was already two years since they averted the apocalypse and nothing bad had happened since then. Still convinced something big would happen in the future, Crowley thought of this as even more a reason to finally take a step forward and savor the remaining time they had left. He listened to the lovely music from the grammophon and began to smile. It was time, indeed.

"Would you like to dance?" Crowley asked as he rose from his chair and stretched out a hand in direction of his best friend. A surprised smile shone on him, as Aziraphel took his hand without hesitation, almost tipping his chair over in the endeavor of getting up. "I would love to, my dear." Aziraphel answered and let him lead to the free space in the book shop by his friend.

Their both hands shook a little while they tried to find a comfortable positioning and they ended up in pleasant vicinity, Aziraphel's head on Crowley's shoulder, silently swaying with the tunes. "Do you remember, when I tempted you to eat the ox rib in Hiob's cellar?" Crowley asked while his heart started to race at the thought about how his plan would possibly turn out.

"How could I ever forget?" Aziraphel's lovely voice came to his ear. "You showed me how delicious human food is, I would have missed so much if you hadn't..." His voice broke a little and Crowley could hear his friend clear his throat in an attempt to cover a small sniffle in his pitch of voice.

"Shht" he soothed him, using his hand which had been rested on Aziraphel's lower back between his shoulder blades. "You lied for me on this very day. You had been willing to go to hell for me. It had been an emotional day for both of us." He felt the head nodding on his chest. "What I was getting at, is that trying something new could be a good thing, sometimes, don't you think?"

"I do." A smile rose on Crowley's face. Maybe he was brave enough for this. He stopped dancing as he continued: "And I would very much like to try something new today as well, if you let me?" Aziraphel losened himself out of their embrace and Crowley felt the loss immediately and aching in his chest. But he straightened up and looked at his friend. His beautiful face, the astonishing white hair, his gifted hands.

Another deep breath and Crowley raised his hand to carress Aziraphels cheek. Always watching his eyes for any rejection or doubt. But the angels eyes just shimmered glassy in the twilight, his mouth slightly opened. Crowley's thumb drove over his friends ear while his other fingers found their way to his neck. The heat was almost unbearable, every nerv ending was tingling and his heart raced like a jet.

The air was filled with quiet music and the smell of wine and aftershave. It was just so perfect. Crowley almost awaited something terrible to happen but everything stayed as perfect as it was. He closed the space between their lips until they were only inches apart. "May I?" he asked in a last confirmation that this was really something, they both wanted. "Uh-hm" Aziraphel mumbled, also not able anymore to formulate coherent words.

Their lips met carefully. A small kissing sound joined the lovely lyrics as Aziraphel started to part his lips first, inviting his friend to intensify their contact. Hands were wandering on it's way to a ultimate destination, even though the route was kind of the goal already. Crowley couldn't stop smiling. As they tasted each other for a time span which could have been seconds or minutes, Crowley broke the kiss to look into his lovers eyes.

"What do you think?" he asked whispering. The silence which followed indicated that Aziraphel thought about it thoroughly. "I think," he answered finally "I am in love with you." A strangled gasp escapes the demon. "Are you sure?" He sniffled, yellow snake eyes meeting sky blue ones.

Aziraphel showed a smug smile. "No," he answered sheepishly, "actually I am not. I think I have to reevaluate." With that he closed their excision again. Crowley closed his eyes, let his feeling take control for a while. Aziraphel's smell filled his nose and his lungs, the taste of his lips would haunt him for millenials. The feeling on his tongue as the angel opened his mouth to invade his space made him dizzy even more.

"I can now say with certainty that I am, in fact, being in love with you." There had never been more wonderful words in the whole universe, Crowley was assured. He drowned in Aziraphel's smile, wanted to kiss it forever and ever. "Really?" was all he was capable of replying, leaning his forehead on Aziraphel's. "Really." he answered affectionate. And with that, they began dancing again.
