Work Text:
For as long as Budo could remember, he loved doing martial arts. It was a great passion of his, given he loved helping others on a basis. Though, another secret passion of his was baking cookies; a pass time that he took up from his father.
Business at the bakery was slow today, Budo patiently waiting out in the front for customers. "...Slow day."
"Try not to let it bother you, Budo." Ayano responded, coming out from the back and wrapping arms around her husband. "People will come in eventually..."
"I hope so..." He sighed, shaking his head.
"We've only been open for two days, business will improve. Growing a business takes time, Budo. Can you trust me on this?"
He turned to glance at Ayano and smiled sweetly. "Of course, Aya... you know I trust you no matter what."
"Good!" She kissed his cheek, patting his shoulder.
RIIIING! The bell to the front door rang, signaling that someone had finally entered their small shop after a bit of advertising.
In walked in a red short-haired woman with glasses in a coat, a smirk on her features as she walked over to the counter.
"O-Oh! Welcome! What can we do for you?" Budo smiled, standing up straight.
"I've come to make a proposition with you and your bakery." The woman would push her glasses against her nose, that same smirk on her facial features. "My name is Kanashi Urabanashi; but my clients call me Info-chan."
"...Info-chan?" The couple questioned, giving glances to each other.
This earned a nod from the sketchy woman, her pulling out a contract in front of the two. “This is a contract agreement allowing any of my farms, factories amongst other things help your little shop out.”
”…what’s in it for you?” Ayano questions, looking suspiciously at Info-chan.
”I’m merely helping out a small cookie shop, nothing is in it for me.”
A silence filled the air for a moment, Ayano and Budo once again exchanging glances to one another. The man smiled at Info-chan, unsure of what their answer should be. “Could you give us a second?”
Info-chan nodded, giving them a bit of a side-glance.
Once the two were out of earshot, Ayano whispered; “I don’t think we should.”
”it could help… she seems sincere.”
”Budo… if it’s one thing, you should never trust business people. She could be trying to shut us down!”
”Well,” her husband would start, rubbing his neck. “Who’s to say we shouldn’t take this chance?”
”…Budo, I don’t thi-”
“Please, Ayano?”
“….”
“What about trusting me too?” He smiled, taking her hands.
“…fine.”
“Thank you!” Budo chimed happily, both returning to the counter.
“We’ve made a decision!” He said, hand on his right hip with a cheerful smile. “We’ll take your deal! Thank you for the opportunity!”
“Hm. Excellent.” Info-chan hid a smirk, watching Budo sign the contract. Ayano just hoped that they weren’t making a mistake.
