It was night on Coruscant and any clone that was granted relieve went to 79's to catch up with their brothers and enjoy a drink or two and if they are lucky, to meet a nice lady if possible preferably without starting a bar fight.
A tfirst sight it was just another regular night at 79's as far as the clones and customers were concerned.
Though that could only be said for the veteran members of the 501st batallion for as far as they were concerned while the rest were... dumbfounded
Now, as for why they were dumbfounded it was because the cantina had received the unexpected grace of a senatorial visit.
The senator was none other than the pantoran senator Riyo Chuchi herself.
While it was unusual for a senator to care for the clones or more commonly known among civillians as "flesh droids" the pantoran senator was an exception since Orto Plutonia - the very same place which has truly earned the clones her respect, sympathy and care.
Though it wasn't her presence that had them surprised since they got used to her coming to visit since she tried to get some support for a bill that would grant the clones rights.
No, what had them flabbergasted was the fact that she was the company of a man.
As much as the clientel would suspect that the young senator may have a potential lover or partner that dream was shatered when someone recognised that the man was a Jedi
As for how they knew the man was a Jedi it was because a member of his Legion asked "Are... are General SKywalker and Senator Chuchi... on a date?". While it wasn't shouted to the crowd it might as well have been because one could hear a pin dropping from a mile away.
"Did no one teach you it'a rude to stare private?" asked Rex sternly the shiny that went to give him a salute at the sound of his voice. And that seemed to wake the others from their stupor.
"Rex you need to calm down we're supposed to unwind"
"Can it Fives! Unwinding or not it's not nice to stare at the general"
"And that's supposed to make it right to snap at them"
"What's this about Rex giving the recruits a hard... time. Oh!" Cody decided to make his presence known though he ended up just as surprised as the recruits and his en though, unlike them he recovered quickly.
"Don't you dare judge me Cody! You too would react like this if you needed to do this everytime you'd need to whip the shinnies into stopping to stare at them as if looking at some exotic animal!" Rex tried to remain civil though it was obvious he was going crazy from the amount of time he had to tell the shinnies off.
"Well you have to admit it is unusual to see them like this so many times. I mean, it's not like we were that much better off when we saw them neither at first or the following half-a-month or so." Fives jumped to defend the young recruit.
"I'm with Rex it is rude in general, but when applied to a general it also becomes disrespectful" Cody sided with Rex.
"Still, you have to reckon it does look like the two of them are on a date, and if it was in any other circumstances I would agree but anyone knows Jedi can't date so there's that" Fives sighed.
And he meant it. Not only did the two of them look good together the both of them cared for the clones so he really thought it was a shame the two of them couldn't be together since in his mind he figured they'd make it work in the long run and have a kid or two or a few.
Though these thoughts weren't shared by the captain of the 501st and commander of the 512th.
"Fives, even if the general didn't had that restriction hanging over his head it still woudln't be something that we should meddle in!" Cody nodded in agreement
"And besides, I don't think general Skywalker is interested in courting her"
'Or anyone for the time being. Padme must still stink. I should get the story from general Skywalker'
This grabbed the attention of both Cody and Fives though only the latter looked at Rex as if he grew extra heads.
"How can you look at thaaaattt..." Fives gestured toward his general having a good time with the pantoran senator if the way they were entralled in the conversation and those smiles were anything to go by "... and assume he's not aat the very least somewhat interested in her"!
"Easy, I've seen him like this with Commander Tano too when they were training or working on a motor, but that doesn't mean he likes her that way" Rex replied and decided to leave so that he could enjoy the night.
Cody too left to spend time with his men and only Fives remained sold on the idea of general Skywalker and senator Chuchi being an item.
"I think I took too much of your time general Skywalker"
"Senator Chuchi, please you barely did anything that could be counted "as taking too much time", and I told you than you can call me 'Anakin'".
"True, but I also remember that I told you I will do that if you call me 'Riyo' and don't you dare use the 'I'm not yet used to it' card", the pantoran senator cuts Anakin's prepared answer off.
"Very well" Anakin sighs astill trying to come to terms that he and Riyo became so much closer since he decided to help her with her new bill and try to win her some Jedi support and coordinating with Bail and other fellow minded senators to get ways of getting a majority vote. It was hard work but he thought if he could sway enough Jedis or at the very least if he could get half members of the Council to back it up it should help more than if it had his support alone.
While the plan was still a work-in progress he was sure that he could easily get his former master in along with Masters Koon, Yoda and Fisto.
Kit because he was a nice guy and for being well... Kit.
Plo because he knew he valued his men and they cared for him if what he heard from Rex about the Wolf Pack is true - which it was.
The Grandmaster was one of the most compassionate beings he ever knew and because he showed a few Coruscant Guards that they weren't merely numbers, they were living beings.
Obi-wan because he knew it bothered him that most of the civillians and more than a few jedi alike treated the clones either as a nuisance or as expandable, regardless of how well he masked it.
"I am glad we have come to an understanding then. Now if you don't mind I'm going to spend a little more time here and you are free to go sleep", senator Chuchi decided to spend a little more time at the bar and get to know the clones.
"That's very thoughtful of you Riyo, but not only am I not that tired yet, I also came to drink with the boys and this place started to becomme a favorite of mine."
"And here I thought Jedis were more tea lovers" Riyo quipped
"That's only Obi-wan. And more importantly, I'm surprised the Council didn't give him a lecture about the Dark Side given his tea passion", Riyo only hummed at that followed by Anakin saying that he actually believes that if it was possible his former master would have already been married to a few of them, which caused the young pantoran to laugh.
"Really? It's that bad? That I hope you and the boys will have a pleasant night", and with that she left Anakin to his devices.
Fives seeing and hearing this last exchange was more sure that there could be something between them if those looks he has seen so far are anythingt o go by. And don't even get him started on body language, which he might not know enough about when it comes a Jedi or a senator but hhe knows enough to see that there's something between them
"It's time to bring out the heavy guns", if someone was looking at Fives or heard him now they would know that the smile on his showed that he was about to do something that would get him and anyone else chooses to help him into big troubles.
