Breakfast Club

Summary:

Julius Orenji is a worker for Galaxy Camp, a company dedicated to give you the best camping trip in the galaxy. They're sent to scout for potential camp spots on planet PNF-404. Sounds easy enough, right?

Chapter 1: Liftoff

Chapter Text

“Everything has been checked. The S.S Pinwheel is all set for travel!”

Adrien knocks on the outside of the cockpit door a few times. He gives a thumbs up to the captain inside. The captain turns and gives a thumbs up in return. As Adrien hops back onto the floor of the spaceport, captain Julius Orenji starts up the thrusters of their ship. The engine roars to life, making the whole ship rumble. While the crew sprints to safety, Julius flicks on the Interstellar Radio, tuning into the stations’ frequency. They reach over, pressing a button to open communications with the ship’s crew.

“This is Captain Julius Orenji, everything looks mighty fine where I am! How's your end?” They ask, letting go of the button as soon as they finish their question. The radio buzzes for a few seconds before a voice replies.

“All good here! You can take off whenever.”

“Alright! Liftoff in five.”

The radio line falls back into static as Julius double checks all the machinery. They triple check they have enough supplies for the trip and pace the small ship until the radio crackles to life once more.

“Launch in sixty seconds.” A voice says. Julius makes their way back to the pilot's seat. They strap in, pushing in the button on the radio to reply.

“I’m strapped in and ready!”

The countdown begins, and Julius begins to activate the thrusters. The ship rumbles to life, all the lights blinking in confirmation as each mechanism powers up. As the final seconds tick away, the ship starts to lift off the surface of Flukuey. Smoke curls in thick clouds as the S.S Pinwheel gains momentum. It shoots off into the sky, leaving behind all the other employees of Camp Galaxy. Julius turns off the radio as they leave the atmosphere. Everything fell silent, save for the machinery running and the thrusters propelling the ship through space. Shifting, they reach over to activate autopilot.

‘Now heading to: PNF-404. Estimated time until arrival: 14 hours. Standby for space jump.’

Leaning back, Julius sighs in relief. The liftoff was the hardest part of the whole process, and was now over. Everything else would be a breeze! They would get to the planet, scout out some good camp spots, and be back before they started to miss their home. Yeah, this was going to be easy.
