Work Text:

After Sonny left Liv and Fin on the bench, he felt like the weight of the world had been listed off of his shoulders. He had the blessing of two of the most important people in Amanda’s life and now he just had to figure out the best way to ask her to marry him.

He made his way back to his office, his pending engagement at the forefront of his thoughts as he finalized the paperwork for 4 different cases. As supper time rolled around, he packed up his bag and made his way to the parking garage.

The sight of his Audi made him smile. Not because of the fact that it was a nice car, purchased after he became an ADA, but rather because of the two car seats that were visible in the back seat. Sonny Carisi was a father in all the ways that mattered and he hoped and prayed that he’d be able to formally adopt both girls after he married Amanda.

Declan was long since gone; even after he saw Amanda that Christmas, he made no effort to make contact with Amanda and Jesse. Dr. Al was equally absent and Billie was starting to ask questions if Sonny was her Daddy and that, more so than anything, made him want to ask their mother to marry him. He wanted the whole package; Amanda and the girls.

Luck was on his side and he found a parking spot within a block of their building. He parked and made his way home, making a brief stop at the bodega to get some flowers for his best girl; Manuel usually had a small selection. Carnations bought, he walked up to the third floor and unlocked the door to the apartment.

“Daddy!!” Jesse and Billie cried he walked in, placing his brief case on the small bench by the front door.

“Hey girlies!” He beamed as the paid climbed him like a jungle gym. After kissing each cheek, he put them both down.

“Where’s your Mama?”

“She’s in the bathroom…” Jesse started.

“Frowing up,” Billie added.

“You two go watch a show and I’ll check on Mama and then make the pair of ya some spaghetti. Nonna made sauce and I took it out of the freezer this morning.”

The pair scurried back to the couch and Sonny made his way to the bathroom, ditching his suit jacket and tie along the way.

“You ok?” He asked when he found her hunched over the toilet.

“I think you left something of yours in me…” she said weakly, before gagging again.

“What?” Sonny questioned.

“I think I’m pregnant,” she replied as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

“You can’t be pregnant!” Sonny exclaimed, panic setting in. Amanda would never agree to marry him if he asked after she said she was pregnant.

“I’m sorry if it’s an inconvenience to you. If I am, I could always have an abortion,” she bitterly replied.

Never in a million years did Amanda Rollings think that Sonny Carisi would be anything but over the moon thrilled at the prospect of another baby. The man adored children and children adored him.

“I never said that!”

“You just said I can’t be pregnant!”

“You can’t be pregnant because if you are you won’t marry me when I ask and I just got Fin and Liv’s blessing and if I don’t marry you and we break up then they’re gonna kill me!” he rambled on.

“You’re going to ask me to marry you?” she questioned as she pushed herself upright, still firmly seated on the floor.

Wordlessly, Sonny reached into his pocket, pulled out the box and handed it to her.

“Dominick!” She gasped. “It’s beautiful!”

She stared at the ring for a solid minute before looking directly in to his eyes.

“Ask me.”

“I was gonna do this right, with dinner and a nice walk by the river and I was gonna get down on one knee…”

“I don’t need all that. Just ask me,” she said in a small voice as she took his hand in hers.

He kneeled down next to her on the floor.

“Amanda, I love you and the girls more than everything in this world and it would be my honour and privilege to call you my wife. Will you marry me?”

“I will,” she beamed. Sonny pulled her into his arms and kissed her head.

She leaned back and looked at his face, tears gently rolling down his face. She paled and promptly vomited all over his shirt and pants.

“I’m so sorry,” she sobbed.

“I’m gonna change and then go down to the bodega and get you some ginger ale, crackers and a pregnancy test,” he chuckled.

“In sickness and health,” she smiled weakly.

“For as long as we both shall live.”

He got and turned towards the door before looking back at his fiancée.

“Manda?”

“What?”

“You weren’t serious about getting a…you know…where you?”

“You want this?”

“More than anything in the world,” he whispered. “You?”

“Fingers crossed we can fit another car seat in the back of the Audi,” she smiled, tears forming.

“I will happily drive a mini van for our kids,” he smiled.

“The ultimate Staten Island symbol of virility?”

“That and the family size pack of spaghetti noodles,” he laughed. “I’ll be back in five.”

“I love you,” she smiled.

“Love you too, babe.”
