Chapter Text
He gains consciousness in the middle of an unfamiliar street.
He looks down at his hands and he doesn’t recognize where he is. He doesn’t remember how he arrived here or why he was standing in the middle of the street. His fingers are scarred and an angry shade of red but he’s not sure of their origin.
A loud sound from a car pulling up breaks him from his trance. He looks up to see a middle-aged man staring back at him. He could tell the car was off, that the man had shut off the engine, he was simply staring at him. He observes the way the man taps the steering wheel of the car in a strange rhythm, the way he swallows after every breath,
He feels an ache in his jaw
His body began moving on its own accord as he stumbled to the older man’s car. He reached the man’s window and gently tapped against the glass. The man refused to look at him, simply ignoring his existence, and something inside of him felt enraged. He began to bang on the glass harder and harder and harder until he felt it crack under his palm. The man twists to stare at him but doesn’t look disturbed, instead, he looks pleased.
It sickened him
The man merely rolled the window down and stared at him with glee shining brightly in his eyes. They stayed gazing at each other and he felt the ache in his jaw rise until it became the sole thing he could think about.
“You’ve fallen for it.” The man was now standing outside the car with him, and in the moonlight, he noticed that he was covered in a dark liquid that caused something in his stomach to churn in hunger.
Taking in the man’s words, he distantly wondered what the man had meant. What had he fallen for? But before he can voice these thoughts, he feels a hand press against his head. Silently, his eyes roll back and he starts to feel fuzzy everywhere on his body. The man thrusts his body closer to his until his mouth is hovering over his ear,
“Let go”
Everything goes black
oOo
His eyes open to red.
He examines the area and sees blood everywhere. His hands are completely covered in red and when he glances down he sees the man from moments before lying on the ground completely ripped apart.
What had he done?
He glances into the smashed side mirror and is horrified by the sight waiting to meet him. His face was entirely coated in blood and remnants of the man on the ground. He wiped at his face harshly as he felt tears start to prick in his eyes.
He felt so confused
A loud ringtone shatters the silence in the car and he fumbles around in his seat to find the source of the noise. Wedging it from in between the seats, he pulls out the smartphone and mindlessly answers the call,
“Hello”
There’s only shallow breathing coming from the other line and he can feel the ache in his jaw return with each passing minute. Finally, an automatic voice answers from the other end that offers more questions than answers,
“Transformation complete. This number will no longer be available after the call is ended”
Everything felt wrong, he needed to know what was going on, and why he was having these flashes.
He let out a quiet whimper into the phone, “Why am I here?”
“Please state your name”
His… name
He stared at the face looking back at him through the mirror, yet he couldn’t recognize himself.
He trembled slightly at the revelation, curling into himself slightly, letting out a soft shudder into the speaker, “Where am I?”
He hears a ding in the background, and his lips stretch into a wide grin involuntarily, teeth dripping with blood and chunks of the decimated man between them. The voice simply replies back,
“Home”
