A live projection of the human world night sky covered the ceiling of the House of Lamentation’s planetarium, meteors and their bold, white trails smearing across the midnight sky. Occurring on this night was the peak of an annual meteor shower, and you’d agreed to a makeshift viewing as a date with your beloved.
You laid flat beside Belphegor, who’d just dozed off despite his futile attempts to remain awake for the whole date. You almost wished he could’ve lasted longer, but despite that, you were still content with simply being alone with him.
Belphegor’s chest softly rose and fell while he buried himself further into your side. A soft sigh escaped his lips when he then wrapped a sleeved arm around you.
This sudden move caught you off guard, though you couldn’t help but to feel comforted by his unconscious affections. He looked peaceful with you in his grasp — perhaps more than usual.
The midnight silence, interrupted only by the caressing whisper of trees in the wind outside the windows, was enough to lull you into a blissful serenity. This sparse moment was one to savor, and so you did.
Perhaps spending more quiet nights like this with your partner and nap buddy were in order. Things were commonly chaotic at the House of Lamentation, but tonight was an exception. A rare and welcome exception.
Lady moon continued to make her rounds towards the west while you gazed up at the projection. While counting passing meteors, weariness began to overtake you and your eyes began to sting.
Ultimately, you were forced to surrender as staying awake became an impossible task. Quietly exhaling, you settled down and clung to Belphegor for warmth and comfort.
With a turn of your head, you planted a tender kiss upon the sleeping demon’s crown. You leaned closer and whispered a simple phrase; a phrase you’ve similarly said many nights before.
“Come see me in my dreams, alright..?”
With that, you pulled the cotton quilt brought along to the date over the both of you and closed your eyes, awaiting a loving dream meeting in the astral realm.
