Work Text:

Gyuvin slips through the door, placing his backpack on the couch. He heaves a sigh, throwing himself down next to it, tossing his arm over his eyes.

College classes were a bitch, and they hadn’t gotten any easier even though he was in his second semester. At least he could come home and eat his mom’s food every day. That was the biggest perk, in his opinion, for living at home still. His parents had offered to get him an apartment, but he refused. He didn’t see the point.

He sits up, ruffling his already messy hair. His mom comes out from the kitchen, wiping her wet hands on her apron.

“How was class?” She asks, and Gyuvin just groans, shoving his face into the pillows of the couch. His mom just laughs, before humming under her breath. “I think I might have something that will make you feel better.” Gyuvin snaps his head up to look at her, and his mom grins, tilting her head. “If you’re quiet, there’s something in your room.” Gyuvin scrambles to his feet.

“Is Yujinnie here?” His mom nods, but she frowns slightly, coming over to grab Gyuvin’s arms, looking him in the eye.

“He didn’t seem to be in much of a good mood, a little upset even. He just came in, said hello, and went straight to your room. So be quiet and patient with him, okay Gyuvin-ah?” Gyuvin nods, and his mom lets his arms go.

Gyuvin quietly opens the door to his room, and his heart melts at the sight that he sees. Yujin lies on his bed, his hoodie pulled over his head and one of Gyuvin’s pillows wrapped in his arms. Gyuvin can tell by the rise and fall of his chest that the younger is fast asleep, probably exhausted from the double whammy of practice and his third year of high school. Gyuvin closes the door behind him, careful that it doesn’t make too much of a noise.

He crosses over to his bed, sitting down next to the sleeping boy. He situates himself on the bed carefully, taking the pillow from Yujin’s arms and placing it behind them, before pulling Yujin’s body into his arms, relaxing against the familiar feeling of his boyfriend.

Yujin stirs, blinking up at Gyuvin blearily, his eyes a bit unfocused. He squints, the hood falling off his head with the movement as he wakes up.

“Hi, baby.” Gyuvin says softly, and Yujin just huffs, rubbing one of his eyes with his hand.

“Hi. How was class?” Yujin says, his voice rough with sleep. Gyuvin just shrugs, reaching up to mess with Yujin’s bangs a bit, arranging them out of his eyes.

“Class was class. What’s wrong? Mom said that you seemed upset when you came in. You never fall asleep here unless I’m here, too.” Yujin just sighs, burrowing himself into Gyuvin’s shirt.

“I just had a rough day is all… I failed a test in math today.” Yujin says quietly, and Gyuvin frowns. “I’ve been having trouble sleeping again… I think I need to cut down on practice a little bit. Getting ready for the CSAT is really killing me. I know where I’m gonna go to college because of my National Team status but…” Gyuvin understands. He had been juggling CSAT last year, on top of making sure Yujin wasn’t killing himself with practice.

“I’m glad that you realize when you’ve been practicing too much. It’s very different from last year.” Yujin scowls at him, and Gyuvin can’t help but laugh, pressing a kiss to his boyfriend’s hair.

“I’ve been studying with Gunwook a lot, we have a study group after school before practice on Thursdays.” Gyuvin nods, running his fingers through Yujin’s hair. “Hanbin hyung helps me out sometimes as well, since he's already graduated too…”

“You can always ask me, Yujin-ah. I will help you study if you need it. I can find my study materials from last year too. Anything to help you.” Yujin shakes his head.

“Hyung, you’re just starting college and you’re so busy. I don’t want to bother you with my stupid high school stuff...” Gyuvin cups Yujin’s cheeks, making the younger boy look up at him, his lips slightly sticking out from how Gyuvin is squishing his cheeks.

“Yujin-ah. I told you before that I would do anything for you. Anything you need, hyung will do. Isn’t that what a good boyfriend does?” Yujin’s cheeks flush a dark red, and he avoids Gyuvin’s gaze. Gyuvin knows that Yujin still isn’t used to the word boyfriend. It hadn’t been that long since they had officially started dating anyway, only since May or so.

“I know hyung… I just don’t want to be a burden.” Gyuvin frowns slightly, looking directly at Yujin.

“You’re not a burden to me, Yujin. I promise. I like YOU. I’m dating YOU. Everything that comes with it.” Yujin fidgets a bit, before he reaches up to grab one of Gyuvin’s hands, twisting their fingers together.

“I’m still not used to that hyung… you saying that. You being like this to me. It all still kind of feels like a dream to me. Holding your hand… you kissing my cheek. Calling me your… boyfriend.” Gyuvin laughs softly, squishing Yujin’s cheeks again.

“You are too damn cute.” He says, making Yujin complain. Gyuvin just laughs, wrapping his arms around Yujin again. The younger settles into his embrace, and sighs wistfully.

“I like this. I’m comfortable just being around you. I feel safe. Like I could finally sleep. I guess I’ve been missing you too much I fucked up my sleeping again. But here… I can sleep.” Gyuvin just hums, rubbing one of his hands up and down Yujin’s back.

“You’re always free to sleep here, Yujin-ah. My door will always be open for you. You know my mom adores you.” That makes a scarlet flush creep up Yujin’s neck, and he hides his face in Gyuvin’s chest, grumbling something under his breath. “It’s true! Your first time here she made you COOKIES, Yujin-ah.” Yujin just waves his hand, pressing his cheek against Gyuvin’s chest. Gyuvin relaxes, knowing the younger is listening to his heartbeat.

“I like your mom too. My mom likes you, though. She always asks when you have free time and can come by for a meal.” Gyuvin hums. He’d only been to Yujin’s house a handful of times, all of those in the last 2 months. Yujin just vastly preferred being out of his own house.

Gyuvin notices Yujin’s eyes closing as he talks, and he can’t help the fond chuckle that bubbles out of his chest.

“Do you want to sleep, Yujin-ah? I can text your mom for you and ask if you can spend the night here.” Yujin just hums, burrowing further into Gyuvin’s shirt.

“Mm. Jus’ for a little bit. ‘M tired.” Gyuvin’s eyes soften, and he lifts his hands back into Yujin’s hair.

“I know you are, baby. Sleep for a little while. I’ll still be here when you wake up.” Gyuvin shoots off two texts as Yujin drifts into sleep, one to Yujin’s mom, who replies quickly with a yes to his question, and one to Ricky, to cancel their plans for later that night.

He wasn’t about to leave Yujin by himself if he could.
