Work Text:
Dragonland is full of courageous, chivalrous men, willing to help their guardian Zardra to protect the homeland from whoever dares to conquer it. The women, on the other hand,
take care of those heroic knights, nurture the children, and maintain peace and order in Dragonland.
In the Palace, the king and queen were blessed with Nana's existence. Their only daughter. Their precious. The one who'd make them do anything to protect her, even if everyone loses their lives in the process.
Well, who wouldn't want to protect an energetic, graceful, and angelic child? Of course, no one. And so, to have her protected even further, they entrusted her to the son of a close friend, who is almost the same age as her. They say his name is Wyman, a hardworking, brave, and obedient son. He is now serving the kingdom, attending the older knights. He is also striving to be one of the best knights in Dragonland. But of course, he cannot learn by actually putting his learnings into the test. He then went to a room full of spun thread and embroidery materials.
"Hey Princess, got any minute?"
He was met with a feisty pink-haired Nana, ready to strike Wyman with needles. Then she says in a loud voice.
"Wyman? How in the world are you allowed to
go here?"
He then puts his finger on her lips, making her know that she cannot just be noisy.
"You see, Princess, I do not have someone to train with. Maybe you can do this with me?"
"Obviously, I cannot. You see I am doing embroidery here, alright?" Nana says, annoyed.
"Oh well, how are they even finished yet? Not like I don't see you staring at us below and forget that Miss Mimi exists in the same space as you just to watch how we train."
Nana stops doing embroidery. She stood up, facing Wyman, looking at him through his eyes.
"Then how am I supposed to train with you when I do not even know how to actually do
It?"
Wyman laughs, after hearing the dumbest
statement he ever heard from the princess. It broke his ideal knight character, but at least it
was on the princess, right?
"Princess, I can teach you more about what I have learned from being a knight serving Dragonland in the future. I personally think that
you'd be able to protect the homeland with us as the future queen. As I see, you are alone, in this embroidery room.. And I see some of the wooden weapons that you 'stole' from the barracks dangling under your table. I wonder how the princess ever learned how to sneak
out."
Nana's eyes sparkled with too much
excitement.
"You... You would train me? That is good,
Wyman!"
"Shall we start now, Princess?"
She nods and gets all the wooden training
equipment. Wyman then starts training her until they both get tired.
"Guess you still need to hold your sword
tighter, Princess. You won't be able to survive sword fights with it flying." He said, teasing her. This is just unfair, Wyman" Nana pouts.
"I apologize, Princess, but if I go too easy on
you, then you would never be ready for what it is like outside." Wyman said, so smug, yet
serious. "Then I need a-"
Both hear the door cracking, making Wyman
let go of his spear quickly and throw himself on Nana's arms, in the form of carrying him.
"Mr. Wyman? Princess? Why are you two still awake in the middle of the night?" A woman came, surprised. She then turned on the light, startling the other two.
"Oh, a swordfight, never knew the Princess
would have a penchant for such things. Here, please have these sandwiches I have prepared for you"
She then gives them sandwiches and the three
of them now know the secret that the Princess
wants to keep.
"You... You sure... You won't tell the king and
queen about this, Miss Mimi?" Wyman asks, as if telling Mimi not to report about this.
"Do you think I should tell? Then I won't be able
to see the princess doing what she likes and be forced to do this unfinished embroidery with me." Mimi says calmly with her mellow voice, swearing not to tell anyone.
"Then, shall we start training after this, Princess?"
Nana thinks for a while, and responds so
confidently.
"Yes, Wyman! Promise me that you will rule
Dragonland with me after I have defeated you!"
Wyman laughed, but this time, he knows that this will happen someday, but not now.
"Then you will have to train for ten more years
before it happens, Princess.
Then the three spent the whole ten seconds
silently... Until Mimi interrupts.
"Mr. Wyman, Princess, it is past midnight, why don't we get some rest?"
"Noooooo!" The two then pouted.
"But I guess our princess feels so sleepy that
She cannot hold the sword correctly" Wyman teases Nana, while preparing to sleep.
'WYMAAAAAAAN! Nana stormed off, throwing a big pillow on the poor squire.
"Not like you have a choice but surrender, Mr. Wyman." Mimi finally laughs softly, watching the little chaos ensue between the pink-haired princess and her soon-to-be shadow knight.
