Going A Long Way

Summary:

Many years after human’s downfall and earth factory reset; a new intellectual species arises from the gene pool. Four kingdoms, five royal children come together to give the fifth kingdom a helping hand after years of neglect. Yet this help goes a little farther than expected and an action fantasy turns into a possible romance fantasy.

It’s going to get gayer as time goes on. (Try to guess which people are the gayest)

Notes:

I’m still figuring Ao3 so please be patient with me as I work

Also warning, I make typos and grammatical errors: sorry in advance.

Chapter 1: Prologue: History Lesson

Chapter Text

Once upon a long, long time ago; after a species called “humans” have gone extinct th-

“Why did they go extinct?”

Well, some scientists have theories; volcanic eruption, mass plague, fire, war, meteor… the evidence we have described something as “Global Warming” but scientists have yet to discover the meaning of that.
Continuing on…after humans went extinct, our species was growing and developing in a large pool of mud.

“Is that why some of us have brown spots?”

Maybe!

“My mom and dad say that our spots come from an animal that was enslaved by
humans and that our people were saved by a higher being!”

…Maybe! The evidence says anything is possible! It is said that a million years after human’s death; two Herdians emerged: Adel and Even. These two are the beginning creators of our whole species!
Adel and Evan had 4 children; Wren, Elster, Nohman, and Solam. These four children soon grew, expired, and founded the four kingdoms we know today: Wren founded Wresten, Elster founded Elstead, Noham founded Nohania, and Solam founded Sole.

“That's us!”

Yes it is!
These four kingdoms lived in peace and harmony until Noham’s twelth child; the tenth ruler of Nohania abandoned the kingdom to his 5 year old daughter, Namia, in order to explore the north past his kingdom. 30 years after his disappearance an old man entered the kingdom and snuck in via a secret entrance. This man broke into Namia’s bedroom but was killed upon entering. The only item this man handed was a letter that described a kingdom far north that invites Namia to a feast. Namia mustered her courage and went to the feast; there she had learnt that her father had stumbled upon this kingdom soon after his disapearnce. He had apparently married and had a child with the queen; which who was the next ruler of Volcania. Hearing this news; Namia was heartbroke, and left before dessert.

“So…Namia and Volcania’s king are siblings?”

Partial siblings, yes. It is said that Volcania’s royal house sent multiple letters to Nohamia, but no one knows for sure.

“Tell us about the people in Volcania!”
“Yeah! I heard they are big and have massive horns!”

I only know that they were similar to us, but have thin fur and a pinker looking skin.

“So theyre basically NAKED?!”

No…their bodies are more comfortable in their home which is hot.

“Like how we have thicker fur because we live in the cold?”

Yes! Over a lot of years their bodies hace changed to make their lives more comfortable; this is called “evolution”.

“Have we evolved over time?”

Possibly; based on some old evidence many years ago we used to have long thick nails, especially on the back of our feet that helped with balance. It is also said that males had big horns that were used for hunting and fighting.

“Like the Royal Hushbrooks?”

Similar, but bigger!

“I want horns like that!”

We did not use them enough, unlike the royals, who were the ones to hunt for our food, until we created and made tools for ourselves.
Now since Namia’s rule, there has been no contact with the Volcania’s Royal family-

“Until tomorrow! I heard the Pince of Volcania was invited to the royal ball”
“I heard he is already in Sole, that he arrived yesterday evening!”

Well then, we will just have to see after the ball then, but that all for today’s lesson children gra-

“Can we say our blessings before we leave?”

Of course, let's all face the banners and say our blessings to the royal families:

Bless the Mushbrooks of Sole,
Bless the Gallowways of Wresten,
Bless the Estonians of Elstead,
And bless the Hartffords of Nohania.

“And bless the Royals of Volcania”

Yes.
Anyways, lessons are finished, I wish you a lovely next few days and please enjoy the celebrations of the ball.
