Work Text:

It was an ordinary day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and Fred and George Weasley were huddled in a secluded corner of the castle, plotting their latest prank. The target? None other than Professor Snape, the intimidating Potions Master. With mischievous grins, the twins mixed and measured their concoction, suppressing their laughter as they imagined the chaos that would ensue.

Fred chuckled, "Imagine Snape's face when he sees his precious Slytherin common room turned into a sea of bubbles!"

George added, "This is going to be legendary, mate."

As they made their daring escape from Snape's private potion stores, a mischievous giggle echoed in the air. It was Peeves, the Poltergeist, always eager to join in on the fun. Unbeknownst to the twins, Peeves added a secret ingredient to their potion, ensuring that the prank would have unforeseen consequences.

The next day, chaos erupted in the Slytherin common room as bubbles floated and filled the air. Laughter and shouts echoed through the room, but amidst the commotion, a stray bubble burst near Fred, enveloping him in a shimmering light.

In an instant, Fred found himself magically shackled to someone nearby—you, an unsuspecting student who had been watching the chaos unfold. Panic flashed across Fred's face as he desperately tugged at the invisible shackles.

"Blimey, George, what did we do?" Fred exclaimed.

Meanwhile, equally bewildered, you stared at Fred in disbelief. The Slytherins were too occupied with the floating bubbles to notice the magical mishap that had occurred.

Fred turned to you, urgency in his eyes. "Listen, we can't let anyone know about this. If the professors find out, we'll be in more trouble than we've ever been. Please, help me out here. Pretend we're dating or something—just until we figure out how to undo this."

You hesitated but eventually nodded, realizing the gravity of the situation. Together, you ventured back into the castle, doing their best to act like a couple while Fred frantically searched for a solution to the magical entanglement.

You and Fred navigated the crowded hallways, shared lunch in the Great Hall, and spent time in the library together, all while desperately searching for a solution.

That afternoon, in Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall noticed the peculiar behavior of you and Fred. Fred, usually lively and mischievous, seemed unusually preoccupied. You kept your hands under the table and didn't do much wand work.

"Mr. Weasley, Miss [Y/L/N], kindly stay behind after class," McGonagall announced, her stern gaze fixed on you.

The rest of the class left, leaving Fred and you with the stern professor.

"I've observed some rather peculiar behavior from the two of you today. Care to explain?" McGonagall's tone was sharp.

Fred stammered, "Well, you see, Professor, it's just... we've been working on a project together. A secret project, you know? For the upcoming Hogsmeade trip."

McGonagall arched an eyebrow, unimpressed. "A secret project, you say? That wouldn't happen to involve any unauthorized magic or pranks, would it?"

You and Fred exchanged guilty looks, unable to come up with a convincing response.

"I thought as much. Detention. This evening. Forbidden Forest. Be there promptly," McGonagall declared before dismissing them.

As you left the classroom, you couldn't shake the sinking feeling in your stomach. Detention in the Forbidden Forest was never pleasant, and it seemed the secret would be even harder to keep if they couldn't figure out the solution soon.

As you and Fred trudged through the Forbidden Forest for detention, the air thick with an eerie stillness, you couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. The enchanted trees whispered secrets, and the shadows seemed to dance with unseen creatures. Detention in the Forbidden Forest was never a walk in the park, and the anticipation of what awaited them hung heavily in the air.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the magical shackles that bound Fred and you began to emit a faint glow. Fred furrowed his brow, eyeing the shackles cautiously. "Something's happening," he muttered.

You felt a strange warmth spreading through the shackles, and as they exchanged curious glances, a soft click echoed through the forest. The invisible bonds that had tethered them together vanished, leaving you and Fred standing free.

Fred blinked in disbelief, then grinned. "Well, that's unexpected. Looks like we're no longer magically stuck together."

You couldn't suppress a relieved laugh. "Finally! I was starting to worry we'd be joined at the hip forever."

As they continued through the forest, the tension of the magical mishap lifted, and a newfound sense of freedom settled between them. Yet, a different kind of tension lingered—a subtle awareness that the dynamic between you and Fred had shifted.

The Forbidden Forest, with its magical creatures and ancient mysteries, cast a spell of its own. The dense canopy above filtered the moonlight, creating a surreal atmosphere. A soft breeze rustled the leaves, and the duo found themselves in a small clearing bathed in silvery light.

Fred turned to you, his eyes reflecting the moon's glow. "You know, I never expected the Forbidden Forest to be the place where our magical mishap would unravel."

You chuckled, feeling a mix of amusement and gratitude. "Well, at least it seems like things are back to normal now."

Fred's gaze softened, and a mischievous glint returned to his eyes. "Or maybe," he said, taking a step closer, "this is the perfect moment for a different kind of magic."

Before you could fully grasp his intent, Fred leaned in, and their lips met in a gentle kiss. Time seemed to stand still as the enchantment of the Forbidden Forest wove around them, creating a moment that felt both spontaneous and inevitable.

As he pulled away, Fred grinned, a hint of mischief still lingering in his eyes. "Consider that a thank you for sticking with me through this magical mess."

You, slightly breathless, couldn't help but smile. "Well, if all detentions end like this, maybe they're not so bad."

They continued through the forest, hand in hand, the moonlight illuminating their path.
