Work Text:
Mamoru had been awake for the past ten minutes, however his body could not move out of bed.
“So c-cold….” Kensuke complained as he hugged his arms around Mamoru’s waist.
The morning was particularly colder than the past few days. Kensuke, who couldn’t handle cold weather or winters compared to the other Growth members, snuck into Mamoru’s bed last night since Mamoru had the warmest blankets and also wore extra layers of clothing.
“Ken-kun, if we don’t get out of bed soon, Ryo-kun is going to scold us for being late–KYAA!” Mamoru suddenly screamed when Kensuke’s cold hands snaked underneath his layered pajama clothes and touched his bare stomach.
“Ahhh, Mamoru’s tummy is warm,” Kensuke seemed content with the body warmth that radiated from Mamoru.
“Ken-kun! Your hands feel like ice! Now I feel cold!” Mamoru complained as he tried to remove Kensuke’s hands from underneath his shirt.
“But Mamoru feels so warm! You’re like a heater!” Kensuke described.
Mamoru gave up struggling and let Kensuke hug him for another five minutes underneath the warm blankets until Ryota barged into Mamoru’s room.
“Mamoru! Kou’s tried calling you five times! If you don’t get up right now, you won’t get breakfast!” Ryota warned.
“Geh! I don’t want to miss breakfast! Come on, Ken-kun, could you please let go of my waist so we can go eat?” Mamoru pleaded.
“Huh? Ken?” Ryota stared at the extra lump on Mamoru’s bed next to Mamoru. “Don’t tell me…”
“No, no, no! It’s not what you think, Ryo-kun!” Mamoru defended as Ryota stared at them, or rather only Mamoru since Kensuke was still underneath the blankets, with disgust. “We didn’t do anything! Ken-kun was cold, so he wanted to feel warmer with my body!”
“I don’t want to hear it,” Ryota glared with daggers in his eyes.
“Ryooo, it’s too cold. Can’t Kou bring over the breakfast here?” Kensuke requested in a muffled voice as he slowly poked his head a bit out from under the blanket. His short dark blue hair stuck out in several different directions.
“I’ll bring your breakfast over and throw it in your faces,” Ryota teased with a serious expression.
“Please don’t!” Mamoru begged.
“You have thirty seconds then,” Ryota started counting as he went back to the shared room.
“Ken-kun! Hurry!” Mamoru scrambled out of bed, dragging Kensuke along since he seemed to refuse to let go yet.
“But it’s so cold!” Kensuke was still not good with the cold morning. Kensuke ducked underneath the outer layers of Mamoru’s pajamas so he wouldn’t feel the cold air inside the dorm.
Mamoru walked awkwardly to the shared room with Kensuke closely behind him, literally.
“Good morning, Mamoru, Ken,” Koki greeted them when they finally appeared at the kitchen table. “Glad you two managed to wake up.”
“Good morning, Kou-kun!” Mamoru greeted him.
“Morning, Kou….” Kensuke spoke muffled underneath Mamoru’s shirt.
“Ken? What’s wrong?” Koki was worried.
“Ah, Ken-kun isn’t good with the cold temperature this morning, so…” Mamoru tried to explain.
“The two of them were being lovey dovey, sharing a bed together…” Ryota said darkly as he cleaned a kitchen knife.
“We didn’t do anything, honest!” Mamoru held up his hands. “I didn’t even know Ken-kun snuck into my bed until I woke up this morning!”
“But Mamoru is so warm,” Kensuke said.
“I see Ken is the same as always,” Koki chuckled. “I’ll turn up the heater in the shared room, then let’s enjoy breakfast together. I made french toast with hot coffee,” Koki told them.
“Yay! French toast!” Mamoru was happy.
Koki turned up the heater in the shared room, and after a few minutes Kensuke’s body relaxed and he finally unburied himself from Mamoru’s clothes.
“Ahhh, warm~, I feel alive,” Kensuke said.
“Wash your hands first, Ken, Mamoru,” Ryo reminded them.
“Yes~!” Mamoru and Kensuke quickly took turns to wash their hands.
The four of them all sat down at the table together and enjoyed Koki’s fluffy warm french toast with fresh sour cream and hot coffee.
~ Later ~
“Huh? I can’t find them,” Mamoru said to himself as he looked through his drawers. Mamoru noticed he was missing a few pieces of his clothes. He knew that Koki had washed his laundry recently since his laundry basket was pretty much empty except for a few mismatched socks and a shirt.
Mamoru went out into the hall to the shared room. He was going to look for Koki to ask if Koki knew where his missing clothes were. In the shared room, Mamoru noticed Kensuke was sitting on the couch reading a magazine.
“Ken-kun, do you know where Kou-kun is…?” Mamoru started to ask, but then he blinked and noticed Kensuke was wearing a different outfit today.
“Kou? I think he went out with Ryo to pick up some more coffee and tea,” Kensuke answered. When Mamoru didn’t say anything else, Kensuke looked up at Mamoru and saw he was staring at him. “Mamoru?”
“Ken-kun, are you wearing my clothes?” Mamoru asked.
“Oh! Yeah!” Kensuke answered. “I saw Kou was in the middle of folding laundry when Ryo asked if he wanted to go shopping, so I offered to finish folding the laundry. You have a lot of warm layer clothes, I couldn’t resist wearing them since Ryo turned the heater back down.”
“Ahh, that explains why, haha,” Mamoru understood.
“Sorry, I promise I’ll return them later,” Kensuke clapped his hands in apology.
“Mm-mm, it’s okay! I don’t mind at all lending my clothes to help you stay warm, Ken-kun!” Mamoru said as he came to sit down on the couch next to Kensuke.
“Seriously, it’s so, so cold today! I’m amazed Ryo and Kou can go out shopping in this weather,” Kensuke mentioned.
Mamoru couldn’t help but think Kensuke looked really different in a cool way wearing his long sleeve overshirt and cardigan. Mamoru was always used to seeing Kensuke wear short sleeves during the warm weather days.
“Mamoru? If you keep staring at me with those puppy eyes, I may be tempted to kiss you on your nose,” Kensuke teased a little.
“Uh! Sorry!” Mamoru leaned back a little. “It’s only that it feels a little strange seeing you wear my clothes.”
“I used to borrow Kou and Ryo’s clothes sometimes too, although Ryo gets upset if I return them wrinkled,” Kensuke mentioned. “I figured your clothes would fit a bit too big on me, but we actually seem almost close to the same size and it’s nice that it’s loose!”
Kensuke held up one of his arms and playfully hid his hand inside the sleeves.
“Ken-kun is being too cute.” Mamoru chuckled.
“You might fit in some of my clothes too! We should try dressing you up one of these days for a different style!” Kensuke suggested.
“Sure? But I don’t know a whole lot about fashion trends,” Mamoru admitted.
“We’ll have Kou and Ryo be the judges, kind of like our own fashion show!” Kensuke said.
“Fashion show? Now I feel nervous,” Mamoru responded.
“You’ve done photoshoots with GROWTH before,” Kensuke pointed out.
“That’s because it’s work! It’s easy to focus on working, even if I do feel a bit nervous in front of the cameras.”
“It’ll be for fun, so don’t think too hard!” Kensuke patted Mamoru on his shoulder.
“Yeah! I’ll try my best!” Mamoru said. Then Mamoru looked around the room and noticed something. “Um, Ken-kun?”
“Yeah?”
“If you were feeling cold, why don’t we turn up the heater?” Mamoru asked.
“Ahh, I’m fine with wearing the layers you let me borrow, and besides–”
“Besides?”
Kensuke smiled as he leaned against Mamoru and gave him a big hug. “I told you before, you’re like a heater! So warm!”
“Ahh, so that’s what you meant–GAH! Wait! Kensuke! Your hands are still cold!!” Mamoru complained.
“Then warm them up for me!” Kensuke said. “You can warm up my whole body too!”
Mamoru blushed at the thought. “You don’t mean–”
“You two! If you’re gonna get all lovey dovey again, please don’t do anything indecent in the shared room!” Ryota announced clearly as he and Koki entered.
Mamoru gasped. “Ryo-kun! Kou-kun!”
“Welcome back, you two!” Kensuke casually waved.
“We’re home,” Koki responded as they put bags of tea down on the table. “Would you two like hot tea to warm up?”
“Kou, they clearly have other plans to warm themselves up,” Ryota hinted.
“Oh? Then we won’t interrupt you two.” Koki caught on.
“Kou-kun!!” Mamoru’s face was already red.
“Haha, maybe next time, Mamoru. We’ll start with tea, please!” Kensuke requested.
