Jealousy Unneeded

Work Text:

"You're not going out this late. Especially alone."

Jolting in surprise, Mikey twirled around to find his eldest brother standing a few feet behind him with his arms crossed and expression set in a stern glare.

He knew that look…he groaned, rolling his eyes.

"Leoooo..! C'mon! I just want to hang out with Woody and get some pizza."

Somehow, Leo's azure eyes narrowed even more.

"Woodrew? You're going out to see him again? This is the third time this week, Michelangelo!"

Irritation slowly waning, Mikey found himself frowning in confusion with a tilt of his head.

"Uh…yea? It is? Why do you care, man?"

Bristling, Leo stepped forward, walking past Mikey's doorway and cornering him against the cement wall of his room. Mikey tensed, not liking how close he'd gotten and how uncharacteristically solemn and serious he was being.

"Because you barely know him, Mikey! What if he's just using you? We can't trust him."

Irritation flaring once more, Mikey huffed, crossing his arms.

"We? There isn't a WE here, Leo! He's MY friend!"

Leo growled low in his throat, suddenly slamming his fist above Mikey's head and covering him with his taller form. He ignored the gasp of fear and startlement coming from his baby brother, glaring right into his baby blues.

"When it involves you, it automatically involves ME!"

Mikey remained quiet, staring incomprehensibly into his older brother's darkened eyes. Leo kept eye contact for a steady minute more to really sell it before slowly pulling away.

Mikey watched as Leo turned and walked towards his door stiffly.

"...I think you're just jealous."

Leo stopped, body going rigid.

Feeling annoyance and pity swelling inside of him, Mikey huffed and relaxed into a cross-armed stance, expression stern yet compassionate.

“Leo..! I’m sure you’ll find yourself a friend, too! Who wouldn’t like you and wanna be with you?”

Leo seemed to relax at the statement, turning his head to look over his shoulder at his baby brother intently. He noticeably perked up at the compliment, cheeks becoming slightly more dark for a moment.

The two stood there in silence for a minute before he sighed softly, nodding once.

“I…thank you, Mikey. I suppose…I am jealous.”

Mikey smiled softly, dropping his arms as Leo turned to face him once more, walking over.

“Aww, it’s okay, big bro! Give it time, I’m sure you’ll have a whole flock of friends!”

Leo smiled affectionately down at him, raising a hand to affectionately cup his cheek.

“I don't need friends.”

“That's the spiri- wait, what?”

Leo's thumb gently caressed his face, making him blush lightly and swallow thickly.

“You're all I need, Ototō.”

Mikey blinked somewhat stupidly up at his big brother, finally taking notice of that certain spark in his eyes. He relaxed, sighing softly in relief before giving him a dopey smile and covering the hand on his cheek.

“You're not jealous of me, are you?”

Leo chuckled, leaning down to rest his forehead against his.

“No, Michelangelo.”

“Dork. Like Woodrew could ever compare. You really worry too much, Aniki.”
