I had a dream once.

Summary:

Okay, this isn't really a story of some kind. I mean, it is a story, but not really a coherent one since it's a dream. I won't post this often, given that i already just released a fic yesterday, but this is just me recollecting a dream that I had yesterday. It was so random, and also a rare occasion that i was able to remember most of it, so I decided that this was the best course of action of telling other people about it. I hope you enjoy this bundle of randomness.

Work Text:

I’m unaware of my surroundings. It’s as if it's a blank. Like it never intended to exist. Instead, all I can view is the source of an infinite loop: Twitter.com. I felt myself scrolling mindlessly, to the point where everything I saw there felt like a blur of sorts, unable to remember even the smallest of details. Until, eventually, one post unblurred itself. All that unveiled was a 3x3 puzzle of some Pokémon characters.

I was.. confused. Why was this being recommended to me? Why am I seeing this? And most importantly, why is this a challenge to complete? Why are twitter users struggling to even comprehend the machinations of this puzzle? Are they stupid? I didn’t bother giving it a second look. Although the artwork was beautiful, it was probably intended for a five year old, to witness colors for the first time. I’m unaware of how baby’s perception of colors work, but i’m sure it’d go into peak performance upon sight of the beauty that were those artworks of Pokémon characters. It is worth noting, however, that I had no clue as to who these Pokémon characters were. Their faces are a blur. I can only merely recognize the art-style.

I back out of the page, and then scroll, but there I see another puzzle. And another. The same format, 3x3, in image form, with many twitter users struggling to piece it together. Many different drawings of many different generations, perceived by humans with the brain of an Ostrich. Perhaps that’s why they can’t solve the puzzle.

“This is stupid. Why are they stupid?” I thought to myself. However, after more mindless scrolling, I came across one puzzle that stood out to me the most.

There were two characters in this one. I’m unsure of who the identity of these two were, as well, but if I had to guess, it was probably Avery (from Gen 8, not from Gen 5) or someone colorful, and Ghetsis, or someone of similar status. There appeared to be green grass everywhere, a circular river, and a white bridge leading to a white building, perhaps a castle. Take this with a grain of salt, as their faces were still much of a blur to me.

I felt the screen widen, as if I just accidentally went Windows key + shift + enter, and it covered my enter surroundings. I wasn’t on Twitter anymore, no. I was in the piece of art, immersed with its universe. I don’t take much time to look around as an immediate commotion is caused right in front of me. The white building from earlier had just combusted, to the horror of Avery, probably, and to the entertainment of Ghetsis, probably. Out came a monster, which horrified both. It conflicted me, but I wasn’t able to take action. After all, during these events, I took the place of an outside viewer. It was as if I were invisible.

All of a sudden, the scenery changes. I’m on a stage of some kind? Well, not really me. I’m not there. But it’s like the backdrop magically changed. Both the environment.. and the characters, too. Now in front of me, I see Blitzø, the assassin from Helluva Boss, which I remember much more clearly than the pokemon characters. However, there was another character. He was unfamiliar to me, but Blitzø said some dialogue referring to this unnamed character as his brother, therefore, he will be dubbed as “Blitzø’s Brother”.

The two of them were running. Presumably from the monster released from the white castle. The brother was armless, but Blitzø was armed with a peanut gun of sorts, similar to that of Diddy Kong’s.

“Quick, take this!” Said Blitzø, in some mannerism, as he threw the peanut gun to his brother. The brother didn’t catch it, however he instead absorbed it. I wasn’t confused at the time, as my ability to express emotions was now static somehow. The scene, same background, cuts to the monster, standing still while another character stands in front of him, floating. It was Caine, from The Amazing Digital Circus, I can remember that much clearly.

He appears to be enthralled by the design of the beast. Although I don’t recall the full design of the beast, and it was most definitely not Kaufmo’s beast design, I do recall the reason he was charmed and that one aspect of his design, being a large set of chattery teeth separated from the remaining body. As if the upper body of Caine were pasted onto the beast. Now, I don’t recall these details appearing from the first time the beast appeared, otherwise I believe I would’ve laughed my head off and felt something beyond static.

As he admires the beast, a shadow appears below the beast, and suddenly, an immense ball of peanuts falls onto the beast. It squishes the beast.

And then I wake up in a cold sweat, unsure as to why I dreamed this, or how this reflects my state of being in any way, but one thing was for certain:

The human brain is really fucking weird.
