Rain Droplets

Summary:

Shizuharu angst, and fluff, a little short story (Pretty bad btw)

Work Text:

The bright lights of the cars were just enough to keep my Harukas eyes open. The streets were crowded, and the sky was dark and cloudy.

She sat there, with red eyes, sore from crying, eating a box of sushi on a bench in Tokyo at one am.

Havoc in her group of idols, and group of best friends, made her never want to go back to town. Rather study business in the city.

One of them was a little more than friends to her, Shizuku. Waiting her entire friendship to tell her, but never built up the courage to say so. Until the past evening, when she finally could get close enough to tell the group about her secrets.

They all thought it was a joke, they laughed, the only one who knew the truth was Shizuku, she left the room, running away from Haruka, embarrassed, and never said anything.

She sighed,

“There’s no point in even thinking about it anymore.. Who cares if she didn’t say anything.. It’s not like she would've said yes anyways. Even if she was going to say yes, She wouldn’t have ran out the door like that..” Haruka thought.

Soon the bright lights of all of the street signs and loud cars were not enough to keep her awake. As she soon couldn't keep her eyes from closing shut, and she had peace for once in her horrible day.

Crowds walked past, it was normal for Tokyo to be more crowded at night than at day, it was also normal to be the person sleeping on the bench.

Though, Haruka stood out to one person in the crowd..

Shizuku.

Shizuku, when sad, often enjoyed spending time in the city to get her mind off of whatever she was thinking about, but this trip to the city was different now.

Shizuku stood in the moving crowd, glimpsing through the passing people.

“Haruka…” She murmured.

Shizuku stared like a deer in headlights, as rain started to fall, she felt the drops pour into her hair.

Haruka’s eyes were slowly pried open by the rain trickling into them, as she slowly gained her consciousness back.

She stared blankly at Shizuku in the crowd, thinking she was just seeing things.

Finally, one spoke.

“I- I didn’t expect to see you here.. Haruka.” Shizuku spoke.

“Why are you even talking to me, aren't I just a joke to you..” She said wistfully

“I’m- I’m so sorry Haruka.. I really didn’t mean-”
“Sometimes.. Sorry isn't enough Shizuku. You're only some self centered girl who only cares about her looks to me..” Haruka cut in.

Shizuku’s eyes widened, her face turning pale. Tears from her face quickly blended in with the rain, wiping away the happiness from her face, as she finally got a chance to apologize to Haruka. Clearly, it just meant nothing to her.

“Is that so..” Shizuku wiped the tears and rain droplets from her face, trying to tell if she could see hate, or sorrow in her eyes.

Haruka slowly started to shut her eyes again, wanting to feel the peace of sleeping.

“Look at me!” Shizuku sobbed.

Haruka’s eyes sprung open

“I just.. I just want you to tell me.. Did you really mean what you said to me..? Am I just some self centered child to you..”

Haruka stood up off the bench. She pushed through the heavy crowd, and warped her arms around Shizuku.

“No.. I didn’t mean it, I love you Shizuku.” Haruka felt her eyes start to tear.

“Please promise me you love me back..”

“Haruka, I- I love you too. I really do, I promise this time.”

They bring their arms back to each other, they have a brief moment of silence together. Haruka holds her hand out to Shizuku.

“Would you like to dance with me on this rainy night..?”

Shizuku looks at her hand offering, and looks back at Haruka.

“I believe I would be honored, let us have this dance Haruka.”

The girls took hands and spun each other around in the pouring rain, their hair getting soaked as if they were in a shower, getting the happiness Haruka had just dreamed of, but didn’t think would ever come true.
