*IN THE PROCESS OF BEING RE-WRITTEN*

Notes:

Hey there! I really hope you enjoy my prologue. After this, I'm going to start drafting out the rest of the chapters, so I know what to write and how to write it.

This is my first ever attempt at a long-fic! I was inspired by the ones mentioned here. I actually meant to make this months ago, but I never really had the time to do so sadly. Now, I have a lot more time and ideas!

I noticed that the long-fics I've read focused on the main antagonists + protag of the second and third game. And I thought to myself, why not make one for THH AND make it a character who doesn't get much love? *COUGH COUGH TOKOOO*♬ ♫ ♪

Anyways, this fic will be based on canon events that happened in THH BUT I plan on putting my own twist to it! So, there will be some changes made to the canon story. Another thing I want to say is that the tags will be updated as each chapter goes by!

Before you start reading this, please note that there will be spoilers in this fic. So, if you haven't finished the first game, I'd advise you to do that first. Also if you're aware of the type of content in Danganronpa (Death, blood, suggestive themes, murder (?)) then you should know what to expect! o (^‿^✿)

One last thing is that please be patient with me! This prologue (at least what I have posted rn 〈ಠ‿ಠ〉..) alone took me around 3 weeks because of my personal life! I really want to get this done but I want to do this at my own pace.

That's all! Enjoy! ( ´ ∀`)

Chapter Text

During your childhood, art was a big passion of yours.

You had a pretty good knack for drawing, hell at the age of 9 you were heavily skilled for your age. This didn't just mean you were good at doodling specifically; you knew how to paint, sculpt, and do digital pieces. Impressive for someone at that age.

You'd think your talent would be the Ultimate Artist, right?... sadly no.

Instead, you claimed the title of the Ultimate Hair Stylist.

How? Well... art was just a mere hobby according to your dad. He did agree you had a talent for art but, he was pushing you for your Ultimate to have some form of hair relation. He ran a popular hair salon in his area, and he wanted you to eventually run it by yourself when you were ready. Despite your possible artistic talent, he didn't care for it. You always argued with him on this, but it fell on deaf ears.

Before you obtained your current talent, your dad always taught you the proper hair products to use for certain hair types and when to use them. You weren't going to lie but taking care of your hair felt good. It wasn't a main interest of you at first but, it felt nice to get compliments for your healthy hair.

He took notice of this talent for hair styling, just like you were in art, you were very good at what you did. He made sure you were more than good, but rather perfect so you could one day get into Hope's Peak Academy. And surprise, you managed to get in.

After closing the salon one afternoon, your dad got a letter, except it wasn't for him it was for you. It was a letter from Hope's Peak Academy asking for your attendance. How could you say no? After all, if you manage to graduate, you're set for life!

If they scouted you personally, you clearly must be doing something right. You weren't the Ultimate Hair Stylist for nothing. Your knowledge on different hair textures and products guarantees your customers feeling satisfied with their new hair styles.

You contemplated on what outfit you should wear, but in the end, you figured you should go with your usual and more recognizable fit. It included a buttoned up short sleeved shirt with one side of the collar inside your shirt and the other side out messily. Along with a waist apron containing your basic hair tools such as a pair of scissors, a comb, a brush, hair pins, a spray bottle filled with water and a mini blow dryer and flat iorn. Followed by simple shorts, knee-high socks, and sneakers. Nothing too fancy but not to simple either, people will tell you in fact are THE Ultimate Hair Stylist.

Now, after years of working alongside your dad you stand before the school. You stand before a new chapter in your life. Before you took a step towards the gates, your thoughts were interrupted by a person.

"Ah! Wait a second!"

huh?

You turned around to see a boy jogging towards you with brown hair and hazel eyes dressed in a green and black sweatshirt, black jeans, and red shoes. He stopped right in front of you, trying to catch his breath. He gives you a friendly smile despite him panting like a dog.

You give him a confused smile. “Hello…?”

“You’re... the Ultimate Hair Stylist. right? Y/N L/N?” He manages to say while still attempting to catch his breath. You chuckle. “What gave it away?” You tease as you adjust your waist apron, containing your hair tools. “Anyways, yes but I’m not taking any clients right now. Sorry.” You said, give him an apologetic smile. He puts up his hands. “Oh no! I didn’t mean that. I wanted to introduce myself I’m going here too.”

“Oh! Sorry! You must be one of the… reserve course students, right?”

His smile falters as he embarrassingly scratches his cheek. “Eh.. no. I’m an actual student here.” You hesitate to answer. “Oh. Sorry again hehe.. you just don’t look like someone I’d recognize to have an Ultimate.” You say, unknowingly sounding a bit ignorant. It did seem to bother the boy a little as he gave you a nervous chuckle before responding.

“Yeah... I understand that. I’m average.” He trails off before gathering himself. “Ah! I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Makoto Naegi!” He brings out his hand for me to shake, which I politely do so. “I would tell you who I am, but you seem to already know, Makoto.” I giggle. Makoto bashfully smiles. “Yeah, I hope that didn’t sound creepy, you’re pretty popular you know?”

“Oh most definitely. I don’t deny that. And hey, you didn’t tell me what your Ultimate was!” You point out. Makoto’s smile falters again. “Oh...right. It’s luck, that’s also ironically how I got in.”

“Oh really?” You playfully pat his shoulder. “You must be the luckiest person alive, yeah?”

Makoto laughs quietly at your lame joke. “Yeah, maybe.”

After a few minutes of conversation, you look at the gates of Hope’s Peak Academy, remembering why you came here in the first place. “So, Makoto... want to walk together inside with me? Might as well if you’re attending the school too.” You smile at him, and he gives you one back at you. “That would be nice.” With that, you both began to walk inside the gate and enter the main hall. You both took notice of how it was empty, it’s almost like we were the only two people in here.

Makoto looks towards the elegant clock in the corner, it showed 7:10 AM. “Man, were pretty early, aren’t we? The meeting starts at 8:00. I thought after talking to you for a bit the time would’ve passed faster but I guess not.” You said a bit disapprovingly as you crossed your arms. “I guess we were both wound up about our first day, I didn’t notice I came so early.” You shrugged. “I guess. We’ve got a whole 50 minutes to ourselves.” Makoto looks as if he got an idea. “Do you want to look around the school? Since were students here I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem. At least to pass time.”

“You know what, sure. I am curious to what else there is in this massive school.” He gives you a nod before beginning to walk alongside you further inside the main hallway…. Is what was supposed to happen. You were supposed to be taking the steps to your new life, your new future. As soon as you took that first step your vision began to blur, it began to twist into something unrecognizable. “Wha?! Mako… Makoto!... are you... do you feel…?!” You were unable to spew out the rest of your sentence before everything went black.

You thought you were brought to Hope’s Peak Academy because you were the Ultimate Hair Stylist, but rather you were brought to feel Ultimate Despair.

…

…………………………

…………………………………………….

“ugh…..ngh….what the hell..?”

You woke up with your head resting on top of a hard wooden desk. Your body feels heavy and sluggish, it felt as if you woke up from a nap that lasted hours. Wait this is very strange… where were you? You held your head up and started to look around. You seemed to be in a classroom but... when did you even get here? All you remember was taking a few steps inside the main hall of Hope’s Peak Academy with Makoto…. MAKOTO?! a hard realization hit your head like a brick.

“EH?! MAKOTO? WHERE ARE…..you?”

You quickly looked around and immediately spotted your new friend, Makoto, sleeping peacefully on the desk to the right of you. A sigh of relief escaped your lips, knowing that he was… okay... at least you hope so. You contemplated on even waking him up. He just looked so comfortable, and you didn’t want to disturb him… yet. For now, you decided to get up from your desk and investigate the classroom.

Your eyes catch the most noticeable thing in the room. The metal plates bolted onto where the windows normally are in a classroom.  You walked up to one of the metal plates and knocked on it.

*Bang bang*

It felt extremely thick. There's a low chance of that coming off for a good while. You found that odd, why was this even here? It’s like whoever put these here meant to prevent something from coming inside. But what?

Your eyes darted from the metal plates to the clock on the wall, which read 7:55. The meeting is at 8:00... which is in 5 minutes. There other students are probably already here by now, it’d be best to get out and see. But first…!

“ngh…what… where am I?” You turn your head to see Makoto groggily lifting his head from the desk A tiny puddle of drool can be seen on the desk along with a drool stain on his jacket sleeve. He spots you at the window. “Oh. Hey. I see you slept well.” You give him a small smile, obviously eyeing the drool coming from his mouth.

He notices this quickly wipes the salvia from his mouth with his sleeve with little blush forming on his face. He quickly composes himself afterwards. “Y/N! uh... when did you wake up? or well... how did we even get here...” He gets up from his desk and walks over towards you. A little wobbly no doubt because he had woken up a few moments ago.

“Honestly... I’m not sure how we got here.” You scratch your head confusingly. “The most logical explanation is someone knocked us out and brought us here but… why would they need to do that? I don’t get it.” The boy nods. “That can’t be it... why would anyone knock us out? Maybe we got to wound up and we passed out... then someone carried us here…?” You give him a look of uncertainty. “Doubt it. Very weird situation.”

The boy darts his eyes around the room curiously, doing his own investigation. He took notice of the large metal plates on the windows. He goes up to it and bangs against it.

“Odd... why would these need to be here?” He whispered to himself. Before you could respond he speaks up again. “It’s 8:00.” He states as he points towards the clock on the wall. “That means we’ve been here for an entire hour…the others should already here, we should probably head back to the main hall.” You just nod as a response.

With that, you and Makoto head into the hallway. You’re both greeted with a vibrant purple color on the walls and on the checkerboarded floor. It was an odd color choice. Makoto seemed to notice this and you both shared a look of distaste. “Who designed these the hallways? Jeez..” You said. This situation was getting stranger and stranger by the second.

You and Makoto headed straight ahead into the purple hall; two open doors caught your eye. That must be the main hall. “I think I found the main hall! This way!” You grab Makoto’s hand and begin to run but unintentionally drag him towards the open doors. “Ah! W-wait hold on!- “ His pleas went in one ear and straight through the other, the boy almost tripped a few times because of you.

By the time you two made it back to the main hall….. everyone was already there.

“Whoa, hey! More new kids?”

Before you could respond again, Makoto speaks up. “Huh? Then you guys are all…?”

“Yeah.. We’re all new here. Todays supposed to be our first day of class.”

“So counting them, that makes sixteen. Seems like a good cut off point, but I wonder if this is everyone...”

You couldn’t tell which voice was coming from who, you could only look as they stared at you and Makoto. Probably because you were just holding his hand like a kid... Anyways... these must be the Ultimate Students that had been hand-picked by the school itself. You thought there’d be way more than this considering it’s a school… maybe we are all in the same class together?

Makoto collected himself before speaking again. “um, how’s it going? My name-“ Before he could finish his sentence, you spoke.

“Hello! I’m Y/N, the Ultimate Hair Stylist!” You spoke up proudly, seemingly a bit too loud for the short haired hazel haired girl and the dark purple haired pigtailed girl as they flinched in response.

“…is Makoto Naegi….uh sorry we’re late. A bunch of stuff happened and then suddenly, we were just…asleep.” He states with a little irritation in his voice. You ignored that.

“Whoa, you too?” The boy with locs responded.

“Things just keep getting curiouser and curiouser…” Followed by the girl with large black drills. Those… seem fake. But you decided not to point it out as it would be indeed rude. “So strange… I declare beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is a strange situation indeed!” The nerd exclaimed.

“uh.. what are you guys talking about? We honestly have no idea what’s going on right now.”

“Just a moment! There’s something else we must address!” A boy with red eyes and dressed very formally spoke, a little loudly might you add. “um.. excuse me?” You and Makoto look towards the boy.

“Makoto! Y/N! Your tardiness is unacceptable! Surely you were aware the meeting was to start at 8 a.m. sharp!” You flinch at his volume. “To be late on your first day is unspeakable! I must report you, and you must accept your due punishment! I don’t know what you two were doing to be late but whatever it must be, it’s not acceptable!”

You were taken aback. What was this guy’s problem?

You scoffed at him. “Hey! Don’t point at us! We weren’t trying to late!...and what are you trying to insinuate!?” Makoto picked up on this and blushed lightly. “I-I’m sure that’s not what he meant!-“

“Everyone just calm down! Listen, why don’t we all go around and introduce ourselves?” The girl with a red jacket said happily.

“The hell!? Now’s no time for friggin’ introductions!” The boy with a pompadour exclaimed. “Maybe, but it may be good to at least find out who we all are before digging into the bigger problems here. I mean, how are we supposed to talk to each other if we do not know each other’s names?” You silently agreed.

“That’s a good point…” The hazel haired girl agreed as well.

“Okay, so let’s get introductions out of the way, then we can move on to whatever else. Sound good?” Stated the blue haired girl. You can imagine everyone else being just as lost as you.. so, this is a good place to start. You turned to look at Makoto.

“Hey, let’s meet up again after introducing ourselves to the others, okay? I’ll let you do your own thing for now.” You smile at him. He returns your smile. “Alright, that sounds good.” With that, you watch him walk over to the long blue haired girl almost immediately. Does he recognize her or something…?

Anyways you make your way to the first person you see, which just so happens to be that boy who called you and Makoto out on being late…Before you could say anything he starts to speak. “I’m Kiyotaka Ishimaru. I believe in bold simplicity! Let’s work together on our educational crusade! I am the Ultimate Moral Compass!”

Now that you’re closer to him, you should’ve known that he was the Ultimate Moral Compass just by observing his outfit. The white military-style uniform with the tall knee-high black lace-up boots screams strict. The red and bronze medal above his right chest was the cherry on top.

“I see. Nice to meet- “

“But anyway, you can call me Taka. You said your name was Y/N… the Ultimate Hair Stylist, right? What a lovely name and talent! You should thank your parents for giving you such an excellent name and helping you with your talent!”

“…How do you even know if- “

“And to keep that name from losing its value, you must devote yourself every single day...eh.. what are those around your waist?” He eyes your waist apron, containing your hair tools. “oh this? It’s my waist apron.”

“Not that! the tools inside it. Are those… scissors?”

You hesitated a response. “Uh… yes… along with combs, brushes, hair spray and a hair dry-“

“Your scissors…. are upside down!”

You give him a confused look before ultimately looking down towards your waist apron, he was right. The blades of your scissors were pointing right side up. “What…. Oh. They are.” That’s weird... you could’ve sworn you put them in there correctly before you left.

“That is dangerous! You can harm yourself or someone with those! Please fix it immediately!” He loudly spoke. You bite your lip to fight the urge to say something sarcastic, but you knew he was right. So, you decided to just suck it up.

“Right. I’ll fix that. Thanks Taka.” You give him one last small smile before leaving him. First impression of him. He’s really... intense and annoying! But... he seems alright for the most part.

Moving on from him, you spot that girl with the two long dark purple braids, round glasses and typical school uniform with a longer skirt compared to other uniforms. She looks at you but when you share eye contact, she looks away quickly. Probably shy, good thing you’re more of an extrovert than an introvert! This should be easy.

You made your way towards her while also simultaneously fixing your scissors; you took notice of her jittery nature. “Hey there! I’m- “

“I-I know who you are.” She said rather quickly. “Oh yeah! I introduced myself already.”

“T-that’s not what I meant!” She responded with a bit of attitude. “I meant I k-knew who you were beforehand…”

“Oh?... ah that’s right! I forget that I’m popular sometimes.” The girl just scoffs, muttering something under her breath “Yeah right…...”

“Sorry, what was that?”

She looks at you momentarily before breaking eye contact again. “Nothing. Anyways n-not that you’ll remember my n-name but... I’m T-Toko… Toko Fukawa… the Ultimate Writing Prodigy.”

“A writer huh? That’s an interesting ultimate.” Toko scowled at you. “W-what’s that supposed to mean? Do you think my u-ultimate I-Is some sort of joke?” She points at you accusingly.  You put your hands up to your chest defensively. “Eh?! no! That isn’t what I meant at all!”

“L-Liar! You m-must see me as some worthless worm! Y-you think you’re b-better than me?”

You huff irritably. “Again, no! I meant it as a good thing! What the hell?!” Toko narrows her eyes at you before responding shortly after. “Sure w-whatever… I’m used to it anyways. If you’re done m-mentally tormenting me, can you leave now?”

Sheesh, talk about an inferiority complex. Crazy girl.

You sigh tiredly. “Uh... yeah sure. I’ll see you around Toko, okay?” She muttered under her breath, something along the lines of ‘just go already...’ as she occasionally eyed your waist apron with a worrying look on her face. Hope she doesn’t try to stab me with my own tools! Probably should watch out for that.

You turn to your left to see Makoto and the blue haired girl again, still talking to each other. Man, it’s been like... five minutes at the max! A bit too long for introductions, right? Taka seemed to notice this and scolded them for ‘wasting valuable time with their ridiculous back and forth’. They both looked a little upset, specifically the blue haired girl as she apologizes while walking off elsewhere. You felt a little bad, but he was kind of right... again. Maybe you’ll talk to her later.

As for Makoto, he sighs but ultimately walked off and continues to introduce himself to the other students. Guess that’s your cue to keep going, time is valuable after all.

“Yo! What’s up?”

“Huh?”

Your eyes locked onto an orange haired boy standing in front of you. He had a few piercings on his face along with some rings on his right knuckles and a necklace. His outfit overall wasn’t anything special but it can be recognizable. But what’s with the goatee?.....and that random pin on his jacket—

Helloo? Anyone thereee?” He looks at you straight in your eyes, you didn’t even notice you were staring for a good few seconds before responding.

“Ah! Sorry. I was just thinking. Anyways, what’s your name?”

“No problem. I’m Leon Kuwata, Ultimate Baseball Star!” He gives you a laid-back smile. “You’re… uh…what’s your name again?” A chuckle escapes your lips. “You’re fine. It’s Y/N L/N, the Ultimate Hair Stylist.”

“Ohh that’s right! Y/N!… sorry about that. Should’ve known your ultimate had to do something with hair, yours looks good.” You blush lightly at the compliment.

“Really? Thanks!.. you don’t look too bad yourself. You don’t really look like a baseball star though… more like a rockstar.” You responded, oblivious to the fact that it sounded backhanded.

“For real?!” He gives you an unreadable look.

“Oh shit…! I didn’t mean it like—"

“Thanks a lot man!”

“What…?” A confused expression spreads on your face. He gives you a puzzled look. “hm? What’s wrong?”

“Well.. I thought I just insulted you... I didn’t expect that reaction.”

He chuckles. “Oh yeah! I guess if I actually liked playing baseball, I probably would’ve taken that as an insult but nope! You’re totally lucky I didn’t.” He joked.

“If you *actually* liked playing baseball? What do you mean?”

His smile drops and he gives you a serious look. “Can I be honest with you for a second? I don’t like baseball. Like, at all. Never gone to a single practice.”

Never gone to practice but is somehow the Ultimate Baseball Star? Amazing.

“and as soon as I got accepted here, I quit baseball for good! I have my own dream for the future!” he clenches his fists in determination. “My only path in life is getting into music! That’s why I really appreciated that comment you made earlier, at least I know I’m on the right track. You feel that star-quality aura I have, right?”

“You do, ha-ha! I understand where you’re coming from, y’know I hoped to be the Ultimate Artist or something when I got older but…life had other plans for me.” A small sigh escaped your lips. “It’s whatever, I do enjoy hair styling too, but drawing is more enjoyable.”

Leon gives you a pat on the shoulder. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out! I like your energy, keep that, okay?”

You form a small smile on your face. “Alright, sure.”

And with that, you leave him and move onto the next student, that being a plus-sized boy with a pair of black, thick- rimmed glasses dressed in a white button-down shirt, orange tie and dark gray trousers.

“Hi there! You are…?”

The boy just stares for a moment. You start to feel a little awkward. This must have what Leon felt like when I was staring… “Err…. Excuse me?” You wave a hand in front of his face; he seemingly snaps back into reality.

“O-Oh! Excuse me Mx L/N! I was just admired by your hair! It’s magnificent!” You blush as a response. With as many compliments you get on your hair, you’d think you’d get used to them, but they still fluster you every time.

“Ah! Thank you- “

“Do you mind if I just…-“He reaches out his hand to touch your hair, you immediately grab his wrist a little tightly. “Eh?!” You look at him directly in the eyes, your eyes screamed ‘angry.’

“Uh uh buddy, do not touch my hair.”

This earned a nervous gulp from him. “R-Right! My apologies… my curiosity got the best of me.” You release his hand with a huff, hoping to get this introduction over with. You just formally met this guy, and he’s already irritated you.

“Anyways... I am Hifumi Yamada, the Ultimate Fanfic Creator! But you can call me by my nickname, “The Alpha and the Omega!” I don’t mind.” You make a mental note to never ever call him that.

“Say… I got to ask… what have you drawn before? I couldn’t help but listen to you talking to Leon about your artistic talent.” Eh?! He was listening to your conversation...? Surely, he could’ve conversed with other people, but he chose to listen into you and Leon’s…creepy.

“You were listening?” You squint your eyes at him, which in return Hifumi stuttered nervously. “N-Not exactly listening per say, but rather I was just nearby and overhead!” sure man.

“Right... well, to answer your question I’m no Picasso, I drew mostly characters I’ve seen on tv. A lot of women really.”

He visibly gets flustered. “Oh yeah?... what kind of women…?” You scowl at him. “Okay! I think we’re done with this introduction!”

“Wait! Hold on! I wanted to ask you for a favor...!” He called out desperately before you walked off.

“Uh… what kind of favor?”

“Well…if you’re able to make anyone look good with your haircuts so you say… is it possible for you to assist me?" Seriously? You’ve only been here for a few hours and you’re already getting asked favors, and from HIM of all people!

“No thanks, Hifumi. And for the record, I don’t want to touch you or have your greasy hands near my hair. And I don’t do free cuts, you cheap donkey.” You exclaimed as you walk away from him, hearing a faint ‘feisty!’ from him.

Your eyes drift over to the five other people. Let’s hope they aren’t lunatics too.

You walk up to the dark brown-haired girl with a red collared jacket, white t-shirt, and blue shorts. She seems promising. “Hi there!” She gives you a smile. “Heya! I’m Aoi Asahina, the Ultimate Swimmer! But my friends just call me Hina. ‘Sup?” Hina then follows up with a stumped look. “So uh….(wrong name)? Right? I think I forgot, sorry.”

You chuckle. “Eh, close. It’s Y/N.” Hina crosses her arms embarrassingly. “Damn! I was so close!” She wasn’t but that’s alright.

“Anyways, I know I’m certain you’re the… Ultimate Hair Stylist, right? You should be! Your hair speaks for itself! It’s so pretty!” She gives you a heartwarming smile, she most definitely meant that.

“Aw.. thank you Hina! I like your hair too, very shiny.” Hina’s face flushes at your compliment. “How sweet! I’m sure we’re going to get along just fine. Anyways, it was nice to meet you stylist!”

Stylist? Did she already forget my name?

Anyways, you both say your goodbyes and head over to the short hazel haired girl with a winter school uniform set with a long sleeved dark green jacket, a white shirt with a large Peter Pan collar secured skirt and knee-high black socks with mary janes. One word can only be said about this girl… CUTE!!

The girl’s face flushes before speaking. “Hello, nice to meet you. I’m Chihiro Fujisaki…the Ultimate Programmer…. Your name is Y/N, right?” She looks at you a little nervously, silently hoping she got your name correct.

“The one and only! Nice to meet you, Chihrio. I hope we can get along well!”

“Me too…!” She smiles sweetly at you before momentarily gasping like she realized something. “Ah!..wait.. have we met before?” You give her a confused expression. “I don’t think so... though, I don’t blame you for confusing me for someone else, it’s not like my outfit is the most recognizable.”

Her face seemed to falter at this. “Oh… sorry..”

“Huh? You don’t have to apologize for that.”

“R-right.. good point..”

An awkward silence came in-between us momentarily... until you heard a soft sniffle. Chihiro began to cry. “Hey, so listen… I-I’m really sorry...” She said as she let a few tears slip from her eyes. Did you just unintentionally make this girl cry?

“E-Eh?! Wait why are you upset?” Chihiro wipes her tears. “Just cuz…. you seem upset. You’re mad at me, right?” From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like you were bulling this poor girl! You quickly put your hands up defensively. “No, no not at all! You didn’t do a thing wrong!”

She looks up at you with glossy eyes. “You…you sure?”

“Definitely! There’s no way I can be mad at you!”

That reassured Chihiro. “O-Oh, that’s good...! I was afraid maybe you didn’t like me.”

You chuckle. “I couldn’t be mad at someone as cute as you!”

She blushes at your compliment. “hehe… I’m glad.”

Jeez.. feels like you’re walking on eggshells when talking to her. You should probably watch your tone and attitude when talking to her… you don’t need to be accused of bullying... and you don’t want to make her cry. Again!

Any who… you move on to your next person, who happens to be a girl with long light lavender hair dressed in a dark purple collared blazer jacket with six buttons over a zipped up long-sleeved white blouse and brown tie. She also wore a short black skirt, heeled knee-high black boots and knee-high socks.

If you were being completely honest, this girl looked as if she really didn’t want to be approached. You almost hesitated even going up to her, but ultimately walked up to her anyways. She doesn’t look threatening…what’s the worst that can happen?

“Hi!”

She doesn’t say a word.

“……”

You try to initiate a conversation. “So….can I ask for your name?” She looks at you with a stoic, essentially an emotionless face before responding. “My name is….Kyoko Kirigiri.”

“…. Yeah?” You wait a few seconds for her to continue talking...only to be met with “… that’s it. That’s the introduction.” Your smile falters.

“…you’re not really talkative, are you?” You lightly laugh, attempting to lighten the tense mood. She only looked at you with the same expressionless look. Uh-oh.

“Eh.. So…. what are you here for?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” She questions you.

“I just meant…what your ultimate was. You were scouted by the school, right?”

“….”

“Why should I tell you?”

You flinch at her assertiveness. “I’m just trying to get to know you, Kyoko.”

“My name is enough.”

You go silent for a few seconds before biting your lip, fighting the urge to say something snarky.

“Right! Well, I’ll see you around then.” You say before leaving her be. You’re not stupid, you can tell when you’re not wanted. Besides, it doesn’t seem like she wants to give any information about herself…what is she hiding?

If she doesn’t want to converse with you, maybe this other girl will! She looked as if she came straight out of a fashion magazine. She wore a black cardigan over a white dress shirt, with both left open to show a little cleavage along with her bra. Followed by her red pleated miniskirt that was cut considerably short, black boots with platform heels and red laces. Her most noticeable accessories were her white and red polka dot tie that hung loosely around her neck and her white bunny and big red and white bow hair clips that rested nicely on her twin strawberry blonde pigtails.

You walk up to her with a smile, thankfully she looked as if she wanted to conversate.

“Hiii gorgeous! I’m Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Fashionista! Charmed, I’m sure!” Junko gives you that signature smile and peace sign. Despite not recognizing almost all the people here, you can recognize her. I’ve seen that face on many magazines, though… I must admit, she looks a tad bit different in person.

“Hello! uh…!” She notices you squinting your eyes at her, no doubt because of well… you know.

“…what?”

“Nothing! It’s just... you don’t exactly look exact the same as you do on your magazines.”

“Huh…? Oh, are you talking about my cover photos and junk?” She twirls one of her pigtails around her finger. “Ahahah, well of course! Those are totally photoshopped.”

“ah. I figured. Your face looks different!” She gives you a nervous look.

“Come on, don’t act so like that! You’re gonna make me all depressed. It’s totally normal these days to photoshop the crap out of cover photos. It’s still me! It’s not like I’m an imposter or somethin...!”

She crosses her arms. “If you’re surprised by that, you’d be totally blown away by a certain dangerous little diva of ours…they make the eyes and junk super big, tweak the skin so it looks all ceramic and porcelain!”

“Right, sorry. I don’t mean it as a bad thing, you’re still real pretty. Your freckles look cute on you.”

Her face gets really flustered, it’s like she’s never received a compliment ever which is weird cause’ she’s a model. “H-huh? …oh! Thanks!”

“I’m going to meet the rest of the guys, ill see you around Junko.” You give her a smile, she just awkwardly smiles back as you leave her be. You didn’t expect her to be so flustered over a simple compliment, shouldn’t she be getting tons daily?

Anyways! Moving on from her, you see… a tall muscular boy wearing a high-collared black long overcoat with what seems to be a dragon design on the side of it. He also wore a white t-shirt with baggy black bants held up by a belt that had the face of a Komainu. And finally, to top off his entire outfit was his hair, his pompadour. He looked very intimidating but judging others by their looks isn’t right so you’ll take your chances with this guy.

You slowly walk up to him with a slightly nervous smile. “Hi!” He just looks at you, you couldn’t really read his expression all that well, but you can tell he definitely wanted to be anywhere else but here.

“..hello. Name’s Mondo Owada, Ultimate Biker Gang Leader. Nice to fuckin’ meetcha.”

Something tells you he didn’t mean that.

“A biker gang leader? That’s cool.” He just grunts in agreement. “Hell yeah it is.”

….

Damn this was awkward.

Normally you’d be more talkative but... he made you a little nervous. At this point you couldn’t tell if it was because he was a biker gang leader or because he was attractive.

“Nice meeting you, Mondo. I guess I’ll see you again later…?”

He just nods, rubbing the back of his head while avoiding eye contact. You take it that he wasn’t the only one who was nervous. Or a better word might be just awkward. Either way you probably should watch what you say around him. You’re able to stand up for yourself but you aren’t trying to be ten ft underground because of your own mouth.

So... that was nine people so far. Only four more to go.

Your eyes glance over to the tall muscular girl wearing a traditional Japanese school uniform followed by bandages wrapped around her muscular forearms and calves. Wow…never mind watching your mouth around Mondo, what about HER?

Anyways, you walk over to her. Your tongue was tied for a moment, so she thankfully spoke up first.

“I am Sakura Ogami, Ultimate Martial Artist.”

Now that you’re standing in front of her, you can really see how tall she is.. jesus. She’s no giant but compared to you, she might as well be. You aren’t exactly short but you’re not tall either, about average height for someone your age. Is she really a high school student…?

“Hey, you.”

“E-Eh?! Yes?” You snapped to attention without even realizing it. She looks down at you before poking and prodding at your body. This earned a squeal from you when she poked at your sides.

“The hell?! W-what are you doing?”

“Muscular quality and quantity are right around that of an ordinary high school student…” She crosses her arms. “Hmph. What a shame. You’re not at all fit to act as my training partner.”

You huff. “Are you calling me weak...? I’m stronger than you think.” Sakura’s eyebrow perks up in curiosity. “Really? Do you want to arm wrestle then?”

Your confidence falls. “…No, thank you.”

With that, you leave the conversation. I feel bad for the person who becomes her training partner in the future. Your eyes come across a blonde haired, tall, slender boy with glasses wearing a black suit jacket over a white shirt and lapis blue crossover tie. You walked over to him.

Before you could even say anything, he introduces himself first. “Name’s Byakuya Togami, Affluent Progeny.”

“Ah. Nice to meet you too.”

“….”

“So… are-“

“We’re done with introductions, right? Is there a reason to continue this conversation?” He folds his arms. “Go away. I’m sick of looking at you.”

………

You scowl. “Excuse me? Who are you talking to?” He just smirks at this. “You, clearly. Now leave me alone, peasant.”

“You four eyed little monster!” You angrily said. “You’re lucky I can’t use these scissors on you.“ Byakuya just laughed. “Is that supposed to scare me? You can’t lay a single finger on me.”

At this point you really wanted to beat this guy up, but you knew that in this situation it was probably not the best idea.          maybe later. “You know what. I’m done talking to you.” Before he could respond with a sarcastic remark, you quickly left. You don’t have the energy to continue talking to that guy. Perhaps you’ll have better luck with… is that a grown ass man?

The boy didn’t look like an average high schooler… could that be a teacher? Any who. The brown-skinned boy had lovely brown locs and wore three layers of shirts, that being a green male uniform jacket which he wore on his shoulders, the second one being an open button-down white shirt and the last one being a small yellow short-sleeve shirt. As well as a brown haramaki and used a yellow rope as his belt to hold up his large black pants. You’re a little curious to why he chose to wear 3 different shirts at once but whatever.

You also took notice of the stubble on his chin. This guy has to be AT LEAST 25.

He spots you too and happily walks to you. “I’m Yasuhiro Hagakure—Hiro for short, Ultimate Clairvoyant! Take it easy, yeah? I know I will!” He gives you a warm smile. His aura is really…. Calming. He really does seem laid-back.

“Clairvoyant huh? Isn’t that like… fortunetelling stuff?”

“Bingo!” He smiles. “By the way…that’s some nice hair you got.” He puts his hand under his chin. “Let me guess... you’re a hair stylist!”

Your face becomes stoic. Your attire alone makes it heavily obvious. But since you don’t want to be rude to him specifically, you decided to humor him. “I am… how’d you know?”

He laughs cockily. “Your waist apron, duh! There’s like... scissors and stuff poking out of it.” He crosses his arms, smiling at you. “It’s super obvious! Shouldn’t you know that?” He playfully asks.

………seriously?

“Right… forgot about that.” You respond.

“But hey, I like you uh… Y/N! We should grab some brewskis sometime, yeah?”

“Huh? We’re not allowed to drink. We’re in high school.”

“Oh, I’m actually 21. I’ve been held back a few times, see, and...well, it’s a long story.”

“Ah… that explains a lot.” You murmur. “What?” He looks at you confusingly. “Nothing!” You smile at him.

“Anyways, I’ll see you later Yasuhiro, okay? I’ve got two more people to meet.”

“That’s cool. See ya, Y/N!” He waves you goodbye.

Moving on from him you see a pale girl standing in the corner. She had bright red eyes with two massive black twin drills. She wore a gothic Lolita-style outfit consisting of a white blouse with a long-point collar, a black jacket that includes white ribbon lacing down the sleeves, fastened by a simple white ribbon across her chest to reveal her red tie and a many-tiered skirt with white lace. Along with a white lace bonnet with ribbons on each side of it and knee-high stocking trimmed in ladder lace with a black ribbon on both sides of each. She looked like a porcelain doll.

“Ah… Hello?” The girl said almost uncomfortably.

“Oh! Yes, hi!” You walk closer to her; you were probably looking at her a little too hard….You’ll have to work on that. The girl gives you a small smile, giggling into her hand. “Staring is quite rude, you know.”

This earned a blush forming on your cheeks. “Yeah.. sorry! I didn’t mean to look at you for so long.”

“No worries dear, I’m used to it. Anyways I do not think we have been formally introduced yet. I am Celestia Ludenburg, Ultimate Gambler.”

“Celestia?”

“Mhm. But if you don’t mind, I would prefer for you to call me Celeste.”

“I’ve never heard anyone with a name like yours, it suits you.” You compliment her. Celeste folds her hands together and smiles at you. “Why thank you, dear. I find your name quite passable for you.”

Passable..? Is that supposed to be a compliment?

“.. Thank you. By the way.. could I ask you something?” She nods. “Of course. What would you like to know?”

“Are…. Your drills clip-ons?” Celeste just stares at you for a moment before giggling again. “Heh-heh. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I think we are done with our lovely introduction. I will see you, okay?”

“Right, sorry. I’ll see you another time, Celeste.” She nods as you leave her.

She acts polite but also forceful at the same time. I don’t think she wants to say any more about her hair…..but those are definitely clip-ons. You of all people would know, you’re a hair stylist after all.

Anyways, that was 16 students you just met, right? If you’re not mistaken that should be everyone…wait.. you’re forgetting someone!.. It’s—

“Hello?”

It’s that blue haired girl again. You didn’t get a chance to properly meet her yet cause’ of Makoto. Speaking of Makoto where’d he go? You’ll have to look for him later. For now, you go up to the girl.

“Hello! We haven’t formally met yet, right?”

“No! I saw you earlier but... I didn’t have the chance to talk to you yet.” She gives you a small smile. “I’m Sayaka Maizono, Ultimate Pop Sensation! And you are…?”

“Y/N L/N, Ultimate Hair Stylist.”

Sayaka giggles embarrassingly. “Of course! Sorry he-he. By the way… how do you know Makoto?” She looks at you curiously. “Do you know each other from school?….”

“Makoto? I just met him at the entrance a few hours ago. I guess he’s my friend! Why?”

“Ah. well just curious. You two were holding hands when you first got here, right?”

What Is she insinuating…?

“Oh! That? I more-so dragging him. I wouldn’t say holding hands…at least not like that.”

Sayaka rests her cheek on her knuckles. “Oh! I see. Thanks!” She gives you a small smile as you return it. That was a little weird but whatever, not important right now.

And finally with that, all the introductions are done. You’re not going to lie, even though they are all ultimate’s.. they certainly aren’t your ideal versions of their talents. After leaving her you spotted Makoto talking to Celeste. Like my interaction with her you assumed he most likely annoyed her too, so she shoo’ed him off.

“Hey! Makoto! Over here!” You wave for him to come here, which he does. “Hey Y/N.”

“How’d it go?” He nervously scratches his cheek. “well.. I don’t think Celeste is too fond of me right now.”

“no no, I meant overall.”

“Oh. It went okay. They are….something.” This earned a chuckle from you. “Agreed.”

“Okay, time to get down to business.” Byakuya exclaimed, folding his arms with a serious expression on his face. “This is no time to stand around making friends like a bunch of dull-eyed baboons.” He says as he eyed you.

“Oh, that’s true.” Makoto agreed. “I think someone said something about a bigger problem or something What was that about?”

“Yeah, what gives?” You asked.

Sayaka frowned. “Well, you see…Makoto, Y/N, you both said a bunch of stuff happened and then you were “just asleep,” right? Well...the same is true for all of us.”

What the hell? This is getting even more weird.

“What? Seriously?” Both me and Makoto exclaimed.

“Just after each of us got to the main hall, we lost consciousness.” Leon stated as he rubbed his head. “And when we come to, we were somewhere he in the school! That’s what happened to you, right?”

“B-but that’s just… weird! That every one of us would get knocked out like that…” Makoto exclaimed.

“Exactly! That’s why we’re all freakin’ out!” Mondo yelled.

Okay seriously... what is going on?

“And that’s not the only thing. You saw where all the windows in the classes and hallways were, right? But instead of normal glass windows, it was a bunch of big metal plates! What’s that about!?” Taka stated.

“Yeah… that was freaky. If all the windows in the school are like that then…. what’s it for?” You asked.

“Yeah, what the hell? Plus, all my stuff’s missing! Even my cellphone…” Junko stated anxiously.

Chihiro followed up in agreement. “That’s right, I haven’t seen my PDA anywhere, either…”

“And then there’s the main hall here. The front exist is completely blocked by some giant metal hatch.” Taka worriedly expressed. “But there wasn’t anything like that when I first got here…!” He clenches his fist in anger. “What the heck?! What’s it doing there?!”

“Maybe we got caught up in some kinda, like, you know…crime or something?” Junko stated.

“Wha…like a kidnapping? If that’s true what do they want with us?!” You anxiously asked.

“You think maybe someone grabbed us and hauled us off and we’re not actually at school?” Leon worriedly asked. His face was almost as white as a sheet.

“Come on, don’t think like that. Cheer up!” Yasuhiro optimistically exclaims. “I bet this is all just part of the school’s orientation procedure.”

“Really…? This seems a bit excessive for an orientation.” You say worriedly. You’re starting to think this guy has zero survival instincts if that’s what he thinks.

He laughs. “Yeah! I’m sure that’s it! So I’m just gonna take it easy for a little bit.”

“Oh…So you think they wanted to do something to surprise us?” Chihiro let out a sigh of relief.

“Huh. Well if that’s all it is, it’s nap time for me.” Leon said tiredly. “I was up way too late last night, so I could use a little shuteye.”

You could feel the tension lowering. But, you still didn’t feel safe. It was only a matter of time before—

*Ding dong, bing bong*

….IT happened.

Notes:

I hope you liked what I wrote so far! I actually planned on just completing the entire prologue and posting it here, but I figured it would've been way too long! What I have right now (including this chapter + the bits I haven't posted yet) is around 8K words so I thought it would be easier and better to just split the prologue into 2 chaps!

Btw this fic is supposed to be in second person! If you see any mistakes like where reader is saying the words "I" "me" "im" but they aren't talking to a character let me know! I was originally gonna write it in first person but I changed my mind halfway haha

That's all! I'm open to any criticism if anyone has any! (◜ε◝ʃƪ)
