Stay out of his room, they had told her. Even he told her.
The man in red’s door was tall, and loomed over the fairy in the dark hallway. She kept finding herself at his door, wishing he’d let her in.
She was aware of the dangers that came with being close to him, Wanderer had warned her when she asked about the man’s whereabouts.
“He’s supposed to feed, but no living things have come here for a while” he simply said to the fairy. They had either hunted all the animals and humans in the area, or drawn them far away.
“Human blood was better than animal blood,” Neophyte had explained. The more scarce the creature, the better quality the blood was.
Fairies were practically a myth.
He hadn’t left his room for days now.
Tracy felt like she had to do something.
Driven by a mix of curiosity and determination, she approached his door, her wings fluttering slowly.
She pushed down his handle, and the door creaked open slowly, revealing a pitch dark room. The only light was a few candle stands besides the vampire’s bed. Tracy hesitated, her eyes adjusting to the darkness.
His hungry gaze fixed on her from a corner.
"You shouldn't be here."
“I want to help you.”
"Help me?" the man in red echoed, disbelief dripping from his voice. "You don't understand what you're offering, fairy."
Tracy stood her ground. "Maybe I don't understand, but I can't just watch you wither in solitude."
Naib regarded her with wariness and curiosity. "You're playing with something beyond your comprehension.”
“I’m aware. I’m offering my blood and body.”
“I won’t hurt you.” He hissed.
“I trust you.”
“Trust goes a long way, but how long until instincts warp that bond?” Naib quickly spat. He was snappy and short tempered, he’d usually compose himself much easier.
“..I still trust you. You didn’t eat me before, you didn’t let the others eat me. You’re not all instincts.” She frowned, stepping closer to the vampire. “Take what you can without killing me. You need to eat.”
“I can go a long time without food, give it another week, fairy. I’m sure some lost humans will show up sooner or later.” He growled, standing up. The glowing butterflies on his body softly lit his appearance.
“I can't guarantee your safety."
Tracy, unyielding her determination, met his gaze.
"Safety isn't my priority. I've seen something in you beyond your hunger."
Naib hesitated, conflicted.. "You're too trusting. I can't make promises."
"I'm willing to take that risk.” The fairy quickly replied.
She took another step closer to him, and he hesitantly rested a hand on her hip.
“Please let me do this for you.” She whispered.
Her hand found its way to his cheek, and she replied.
In that moment, Naib gave in to the vulnerability, pulling her into a closer embrace.
"I want you to feed off me. I want it." Tracy whispered, her lips brushing against his.
Naib closed the distance, their lips meeting in a quick kiss that silently accepted her offer. The man gently led her to a chaise, and confined the kiss as he leaned against the fabric.
Her careful hands traced patterns on his chest, a delicate gesture of trust and consent.
Naib leaned in to kiss her again. He set her on the small couch.
Naib’s lips moved down, his mouth grazing her cheek, then her chin, then her neck. He hesitated, a shaky breath against her skin.
Naib's fangs grazed her, her heartbeat quickening in anticipation.
"I've never fed off a fairy before," Naib mumbled, his voice a breathy whisper.
Tracy's arms wrapped around him, one hand behind his head.
“Trust yourself,” the fairy reassured, tugging at his hair slightly.
The vampire nodded, and kissed her neck repeatedly, gently sucking at the unbroken skin between breaths before he finally bared his fangs.
The fairy watched the scene through their shadows, the candlelight reflecting it on the ground in front of them. His body leaned into hers, his grip tightening on her waist.
He pulled her in once more, and with one more shaky exhale, he finally sunk his teeth into her delicate skin.
As his fangs punctured her skin, a painful, yet warm sensation swept through the fairy. A gasp escaped her lips, blending with the quiet noises of the room, their breathing was all they could hear.
His chest heaved as he sucked from her neck, her blood was better than any he’d ever tasted in centuries.
As he fed, Naib's body trembled with an unfamiliar vulnerability. Tracy ran her fingers through his hair, holding him close, grounding him.
Her head fell back as he guided it with his free hand, opening up her chest to him for easier access. Tracy could feel her grip on his body tightening.
He pulled away to breathe, his eyes hungry and somewhat cruel. They softened as they met her gaze. She turned his head to the side further, and brought a hand to the wound.
She then reached her hand to the vampire’s face and smeared her blood to his lips. He hungrily licked his lips and leaned in to kiss her again.
She could taste her blood on his tongue through the kiss, it was disturbing, but it was the meal she offered him.
“You can take more.” She gently whispered, brushing hair from his face. His hand moved to her waist before stopping.
“I shouldn’t.” He whispered back, kissing her quickly again.
“I can’t go too far.”
He pressed a firm hand to her neck to stop the blood as it slowly trickled down her skin.
He brought her body back up to the small couch, and let the fairy sprawl out. He looked down at her with hungry eyes.
“Now that I’ve tasted your blood I fear I’ll want more.”
“You can have it.” She exhaled.
“Tracy-“
She pulled him closer to her, his body leaned up against hers. Her hands wrapped around one of his wrists and she squeezed it.
“I’m staying here with you.”
“Are all fairies so needy?” He chuckled.
She sighed and wrapped her other arm around his back. He rested his head in the crook of her neck, right next to where he bit her.
“Thank you.” He murmured, closing his eyes as he felt the fairy’s slightly weakened touch explore his body. Her hand brushed up against his back repeatedly.
He kissed her neck again, and resisted the urge to bite again. “I love you so much.” He exhaled, his voice hushed and breathy.
“My beautiful fairy,” he continued, kissing under her chin. His hand caressed her waist, his thumb circling over her hip bone.
She closed her eyes at the praise, and leaned into the touch. She couldn’t help the smile from plastering onto her face as he loved her.
“I love you too.” She sighed.
The two fell asleep on the chaise in each others arms, tracy’s body heavy and tired from the exchange. Naib didn’t need to sleep, but he had no reason to be awake if she wasn’t.
The night continued on, leaving their love to be wordlessly whispered through the flicks of the candles flames.
