The Alder Elves

Summary:

I've had an English assignment: read a book, write a poem for it. I've read Reckless: The Golden Yarn, and decided to write the poem about the myth of the Alder Elves. Might not be completely correct, but tried my best^^

Enjoy! I might add more poems, if my teacher decides so... TvT

Work Text:

In a past, long forgotten, deep under the ground,
Too hot for even Goyl to live, so they would never be found,
There lived the Alder Elves, in their palaces so deep.
Silver castles, there they lived, with secrets they still keep.

Once lived together with the Fairies in peace,
Now almost all of them, turned into Alder trees.
Stole water from the Fairies, to use it for their own,
And for a very long time, they could do so, unknown.

Turned the water into mirrors, and these mirrors were their way,
To go to another realm, the Real World, we would say,
But when the Fairies found out, they demanded revenge,
The casted a powerful curse, from which the Elves had no defense.

Twelve were left, from the thousands that have been,
But even though they survived, Alder Elves remained unseen.
But what happened to the elves that live? Well you could have known,
They mingled in with the people living here, making this world their own,

They still sent creatures through the mirrors, tried to reclaim their land,
But the world silently defeated all the creatures that they sent.
Once there Will be a time, then they Will finally win.
Will they send the right person, that Will kill the fairies from within.

But even though they're killed, betrayed, by their own flesh and stone,
The curse still lives, bark grows, guess Willows never stand alone.
So if you see a silver alder, then please do realize,
That is NOT a normal tree, it is an Elf that payed it’s prize...
