“It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!
Those words echoed in Will's mind the entire bike ride home. Did Mike know? Well if he didn’t he definitely does now. And of course he has to fall head over heels for the most oblivious boy in the world.
As he pulls into the driveway he throws his bike down and runs, slams the door shut and runs to his room and just cries. He doesn’t know when or how but he falls asleep.
About 20 minutes later he was woken up by loud banging on his front door .
“Will! Will!”
It’s Mike. He knows thAt voice from anywhere so he gets up and heads to the front door only to open it and tell Mike to go away. Mike is left stunned by what had just happened, there’s nothing else he can do so Mike just heads back home.
It’s been two days since their fight and Will still wants absolutely nothing to do with Mike. Lucas has since apologised and of course Will forgave him straight away. Lucas doesn’t know exactly what happened between Will & Mike he wants to know but doesn’t push the other boy.
Later that day Will is hanging out with Lucas at Will’s housse and he can tell Will just isn;t himself.
“Hey Will i know that you and Mike got into an argument and I know you’re not ready to talk about it but I’m here for you man.” Lucas says with a soft tone.
“Thank Lucas. I know I should talk about it and i think i want to, i just don’t wnat you to hate me.” he says with a wobbly tone.
Lucas looks at will with a soft expression on his face and says “Will you can tell me anything and there’s NOTHING and i mean NOTHING will make me hate you.”
And that’s when WIll breaks down crying. Lucas quickly wraps will in a hug and they sit like that for a while. About 30 minutes late Will is the first one to break the hug.
‘I really needed that thank you Lucas.”
“NO problem man.” Lucas replies with a smile on his face.
Will then starts to recount the fight he had with Mike and Lucas has never been more pissed off and guilty.
“I really am sorry Will it was a cool campaign and i know you really wanted to play it.” he says genuinely.
“Lucas, it's okay, I forgive you.” Will replies.
“Mike had no right to say that about you at all, he’s such a dick!” Lucas shouts.
Will is taken back a little bit but he replies “I know and I really didn’t think he would say something like that and use it against me like Troy and James.”
Will quickly covers his mouth and quickly realises what he’s said.
“Shit i- i-” with a panicked expression WIll quickly gets up and starts to head towards the door. Lucas quickly stops him and look at him.
“Will, are you gay?” Lucas asks, voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah, I am.” the boy replies.
“Does anyone else know? Lucas questions.
“ No. No one else does, Jonathan might know,” WIll admits,
“Thank you for trusting me with this, I promise I won't tell anyone else.”N Lucas smiles at WIll and his cheeks turn red.
“Will! Are you there? You can’t be mad at me forever!. Mike says through the walkie.
Lucas looks at Will and he nods, giving Lucas the okat to answer for him.
“Will! I know you’re there, please talk to me.” Mike’s sounding upset? No he doesn't get to do this to will again. He’s sick and tired of Mike treating him like shit.
“Mike, seriously just leave him alone he doesn't want to talk to you. Over and Out.” Before Mike can get a reply Lucas shuts off the walkie.
Will mouths a thank you to him and they both head down stairs.
Lucas and WIll are sitting on his sofa when they hear a knick at the door. Lucas gets up to open it and to his surprise it’s Mike.
Lucas is standing there in shock and he oesn’t realise it but WIll is standing behind him.
Mike takes a look at Will and swallows the lump in his throat.
“What are you doing here Mike? I thought i made it clear that i don’t want to talk to you anymore.” Will said bitterly.
Mike looks like he’s about to cry but he blinks away the tears.
“I came here to apologise.” he says while rubbing the back of his neck.
“Mike whatbere you have to say i don’t want to hear it. You really hurt me Mike. After everything I’ve been through with the bullying the last person I would expect to throw something like that back in my face would be you! I thought you were my best friend. I don’t think we can be friends anymore. One of my BIGGEST fears was you figuring out that I was queer and you throwing it back in my face and guess what? I was right. I NEVER would have thought that you would be like Troy and James and bully me. But you know what, I just don’t care anymore. I don’t care that you hate me, I don't care that you know that I was hopelessly in lloe with you for all these years. I’m just over it. So please leave and never speak to me again.” feeling satisfied WIll turned back and headed back up to his room.
Mike and Lucas stood there in shock at what just had happened.
“You hurt him. You know that.” Lucas said to Mike with a stern voice.
Mike tried to think of what to say bck but before he could Lucas continued
“I think you should leave.” Lucas replied and shut the door in Mike’s face.
Lucas then went back up to Will's room and found him curled up on his bed. He smiled and chuckled to himself.
“Hey. It’s me.” Lucas’ voice is barely above a whisper
Will turns around his face red and puffy from crying smiles weakly back at Lucas.
Lucas sits next to Will with a fond smile and says “I’m proud of you, for standing up to him. You don’t deserve someone like that.”
Will turned to faceLucas. “I know and i know it’s going to be hard not being friends with him anymore but I honestly just coudn’t take it anymore.” the boy replies.
They sat in a comfortable silence and Lucas looked down at Wills lips but quickly looked away and blushed.
Will then looked at Lucas and he turned back to look at Will. They both stared at each toher for what seemed like hours both breathing heavily. Will didn’t know who leaned in first but the gap between them was now closed and their lips met.
Lucas wrapped his hands around Will and the kiss deepens. The kiss lasts for a few minutes before the break apart.
Both boys just smile at each other knowing that they both like each other and that was enough for now.
And if Joyce sees Lucas and Will asleep curled up to each other well that was her business.
