Hyunjin pushed his silver hair out of his face as he willed himself to untangle himself from his jungle of sheets and blankets. Forcing his sore body up from his bed and into the bathroom, Hyunjin couldn't contain the shaky exhale that escaped from his throat. Seeing as he was sharing a dorm with 3RACHA, it was never silent in the dorm unless they weren't in it. And seeing as the dorm was silent... Hyunjin was able to deduce that they weren't here.
It was most likely due to the fact that they were all still crammed inside of Chan's studio, going over the little details of their songs and trying to tie up any loose ends that they possibly could in the short amount of time they had left. Hyunjin decided he wouldn't mentally scold the three of them for being out until the next morning. He knew all too well that this upcoming promotion was taking a toll on the entire group. Without thinking, Hyunjin's hand travelled up to his throat, rubbing it. His voice was absolutely exhausted and he wanted to whine about it but anymore stress on his vocal cords, and Hyunjin was sure that his voice would stop working all together. Thinking about how exhausted his voice was only made him think about how sore his entire body was. His arms, his waist, his abdomen-
"Fuck..." Hyunjin swore, clenching his teeth as a sharp, awful pain violently tore its way through his bruised legs. His legs too.
Hyunjin hobbled over to his water stained mirror and stared blankly into it as he messed with his hair, trying to make it look normal and less like he had slept in his bed for hundreds of years. He then pulled his hair back and he could clearly see that it was damaged. He wondered to himself when his stylists would decide to finally stop abusing his poor, overtreated hair. However, even if the bleach was insisting on waging war against his poor, pitiful hair, Hyunjin knew that his new hair colours each promotion were something that his adoring fans looked forward to.
Sighing and giving up on any chance at making his hair appear decent in some semblance, Hyunjin exited his bathroom and curled up on the couch and closed his eyes. It was only 2 hours and 56 minutes into the day, so it was still dark out. So dark, that not even the rest of Seoul was completely awake yet, save for the occasional car that sped past the dorm building.
Hyunjin knew that the night before, his roommates had left without him to record vocals in order to give him a break, but what was the use in taking a break if he kept waking up way too early? Hyunjin had attempted numerous times to force himself to go back to sleep after he found himself waking up hours before his alarm was set to go off. He even remembered how he had laid curled up in his bed, audibly pleading and begging his brain and body to finally shut down and grant him some of the rest that he so desperately needed.
Still keeping his eyes shut, trying to get any sleep that he could, Hyunjin nearly missed the soft knock on his door. "Hyunjin-ah?" Hyunjin heard the whisper from the other side of the door. "Yongbok..." Hyunjin whispered weakly, his vocal cords pleading for him to stop talking, to stop abusing them. Despite how much his body ached and cried out for relief, he mustered up any strength he had left in him to roll over on the couch and face the door. "Hyunnie, I'm coming in, okay?"
Hyunjin whined feebly as he heard the dorm's door unlock and the eventual sound of Felix removing his shoes and walking through the entrance. "Hyun-ah, you here?" Hyunjin let out another whine, a pained one as Felix rushed over. "Hyunjin-ah!" Felix whisper-shouted. "Hyunjin, what happened?" Hyunjin stared up at his friend, his silver hair falling in front of his face, which Felix was quick to gently push away. "Throat hurts, body hurts, can't sleep," the poor idol confessed as he rubbed his eyes. His voice came out sore and weak and Felix couldn't stop himself from pitying Hyunjin.
The Aussie clicked his tongue disapprovingly at this and gently moved Hyunjin's hand away from his red eyes. "I see," the freckled boy softly expressed as he massaged Hyunjin's scalp and neck. The dancer groaned softly as the blessing that was Felix's hand began to relieve his pain.
Hyunjin let his eyes slip shut and allowed himself to become encapsulated in the bliss, forgetting the aches in his throat and body until his eyes opened drifted over to a bag Felix was holding in his hand. "What's that?" He asked despite the soreness of his throat. "Hm?" Felix paused the movements his hand was making on Hyunjin's neck and looked down at his hand, right where Hyunjin happened to be pointing. "Oh this? I couldn't sleep and I was just bored," Felix chuckled as he lifted the bag up. "And I thought you'd might want to bake this with me." Felix smiled as he took the vanilla cake mix and held up. "But you're obviously not feeling too good, so-,"
"A cake? Felix, it's 3 in the morning." Hyunjin looked up at his friend as if all of his screws were loose and they were all sticking out of his head. Felix shrugged. "Helped me sleep last time." He simply said. Hyunjin gawked at his bandmate. "But like I said, you aren't feeling well, so I'll probably just-,"
"No," Hyunjin said, his voice firm but quiet. "I- no, I want- I want to bake the cake with you." Felix gave him a look, quirking his eyebrow. "Hyunjin, your body is sore, you really shouldn't-," A strained whine escaped from Hyunjin's throat. "Please, Lix, anything to just take my mind off of the pain," he pleaded, his eyes wide. "Plus, my- my cravings have been going haywire lately and cake sounds really, really nice right now," Hyunjin continued. "Lixie, please, please, please can I-,"
Felix stifled a laugh as a carded his small fingers through Hyunjin's hair. "Yes, yes, you can help me bake this cake." Felix's tone was exasperated, but it was dripping with fondness and adoration for his best friend. Hyunjin's oh so beautiful smile made an appearance once Felix had agreed to let him help with the cake. "Can you even stand?" He asked Hyunjin as he looked him over, checking his body for any signs of pain or discomfort. Hyunjin nodded, his excitement to bake the cake taking over as he hastily pulled himself up to his feet. However, his body protested in the form of a dull cramp in his lower abdomen causing him to groan in distress.
Upon hearing Hyunjin's cry of pain, Felix gently braces his arm around him, using his free hand to massage his aching abdomen. "I got you, I got you," Felix shushed Hyunjin's whines as they both made their way to the kitchen. "Are you sure you're okay?" Felix asked, attempting to confirm whether Hyunjin should be in the kitchen or if he should just force him back into his bed with a warm cup of tea. Hyunjin nodded while Felix scanned his face for any anguish. When he found none, he sent Hyunjin one final look before setting the cake mix on the counter.
Hyunjin watched as Felix quickly followed the instructions printed onto the box. Felix was explaining how to bake the cake, what it should look like, and how not to mess it up, but Hyunjin was certainly guilty of not completely paying attention to his words, for he was busying himself by admiring Felix's hands and how nimble they were in arranging and mixing the ingredients. Hyunjin smiled a cheesy smile- god, his best friend was so talented.
By the time the cake was in the oven, Hyunjin had cracked and wasted four eggs, the poor things becoming a victim to his shaky hands and clumsy mannerisms. Felix had rolled his eyes with a fond smile and scolded him. Here they were, ten minutes after that, cake in the oven and kitchen a mess. Hyunjin took advantage of this and dug his hand into the flour, throwing some onto Felix.
Felix shrieked and whined as his platinum locks fell victim to Hyunjin's flour assault. He tried his best to get all of it out of his hair, but the white of the flour still clung to his hair, unwilling to be moved. "Hyunjin, whyyyy," Felix whined, ruffling and mussing his own hair in an attempt to save it from the treachery that was flour. Rather than reply or acknowledge his bandmate's pleas, Hyunjin stared at Felix with a grin on his face as his cheeks were painted a lovely scarlet by an artist named Love.
Love.
Hyunjin loved Felix. He loved him. Felix, his best friend whom he shared matching rings with. His best friend who had come over because he knew his insomnia had him stuck, sitting up and alone when he shouldn't be.
In the midst of Hyunjin admiring Felix and his great qualities and how adorable he was being, trying to get the flour out of his hair, he was hit with flour in the face, landing all over the front of his shirt and the top of his sweats.
Felix, his best friend who was also a menace and a little gremlin.
Hyunjin tackled him out of the kitchen, not caring about how much his body hurt as he pushed his friend down onto the couch in a relentless assault of tickles and poking. Felix's never ceasing pleas for mercy and liberation filled the dorm as well as his radiant laughter. Oh how his laughter sounding like a song composed by the sun itself.
The two friends passed their time that way, tickling and wrestling each other. Eventually the two fell into an affectionate cuddle as a comfortable silence wrapped its warm arms around them. Felix was massaging Hyunjin's back this time and Hyunjin was undoubtedly appreciative of the touches, greedily pouting and whining whenever Felix would take his hands away to do anything else that didn't involve his hands on the other boy's body.
They continued on like this for some more time when the oven inevitably beeped, signaling that it was now time to free the freshly baked cake from its heated prison. Hyunjin pouted when Felix's hands left him so that he could go grab the cake and he glared at the oven. He got up to follow Felix into the kitchen but he was gently pushed down by the Aussie and he was reseated back onto the couch.
"You've moved around enough with your sore body," Felix said firmly. "I'm not letting you move another inch, so stay there while I get the cake." Hyunjin groaned and moaned, feeling agitation skip and hop through his body. "Sit here? What do I do then?" He asked, lower lip jutting out in a pout that failed in convincing his friend to let him stand up and walk into the kitchen after him. "Hmmm," Felix said as he feigned deep consideration, putting his forefinger to his head for good measure. Hyunjin waited expectantly. "Ah! I have it!" Hyunjin perked up at this and Felix snickered. He could practically see an invisible tail wagging behind Hyunjin. "You should sit there and continue to look pretty." Felix smiled, disappearing into the kitchen. Hyunjin whined and groaned as he flopped back onto the couch. He continued to groan loudly and dramatically into a pillow until Felix came back with two slices of cake, the vanilla hitting his nose.
"No more tantrums, you dramatic ferret," Felix playfully scolded. "Eat your cake." He said, shoving a forkful into Hyunjin's mouth. Hyunjin practically melted at how rich the taste of the vanilla was and he flopped his head against Felix's shoulder. "Is it good?" Hyunjin nodded, taking in another mouthful of the sweet dessert. He hummed contently as his lips closed around the fork, scraping the cake into his mouth. "Thank you, Yongbok." Hyunjin beamed up at his friend.
Smiling, Felix's arm tightened around Hyunjin's aching body, caressing his neck and shoulders as he indulged in the warm cake. "I couldn't just leave you here alone," Felix said, feeding bits of cake through Hyunjin's rosy pink lips. "You're fun to bake with, Jinnie." Felix whispered. His warm breath tickled the boy's ear, making him giggle and laugh. "Sleepy yet?"
Hyunjin looked at his empty plate and back at Felix. Unexpectedly, he found himself nodding in answer to his question. It was now 4 am. "How..." Hyunjin blearily stared up at Felix, a confused and dazed expression colouring his elegant features. "Oh my god, Felix, did you drug my cake?" Hyunjin asked, eyes wide as he gaped at him. Felix grinned, taking his plate and setting it on the coffee table. "No, but I told you it helps." Hyunjin dazedly nodded as Felix moved swiftly to tidy everything up, whisking their plates and forks away into the kitchen.
When he came back, Hyunjin was barely keeping his head up, fighting to hold his eyes open for just a little while longer. Felix stood in front of Hyunjin, smiling down at him. "Go to sleep. You know your body needs it." Felix said, leaning down and pressing a kiss to Hyunjin's forehead. He gifted Hyunjin a gentle and loving kiss on his plush lips when he finally complied and laid down on the couch. Felix then moved away to get a blanket from Hyunjin's bedroom, but Hyunjin was having none of it and grabbed his hand in a feeble attempt to keep him from walking away. Felix tried to pull away, but his dancer friend would just whine loudly whenever he attempted to do so.
"Shh, shh," Felix gently shushed the boy, smoothing out his hair as he leaned close and pressed a consoling kiss to the top of his head. "I'm just getting your blanket, okay? I'm coming back soon." Hyunjin couldn't nod, because his eyes had fallen shut and his grip had loosened on Felix's hand. Felix quickly speed-walked over to Hyunjin's bedroom to grab his blanket. Once he deemed that he had indeed cuddled up close enough to Hyunjin's body, Felix draped the blanket over both of them, hugging Hyunjin closer and closer to his chest.
"Look at you... sleeping. It must feel nice actually resting for the first time in a while, hm?" Felix whispered he chuckled to himself as he kissed the top of Hyunjin's hair again. Felix looked down and saw Hyunjin's chest move up and down with each puff of breathe he took. He hummed as the soft and soothing sound of Hyunjin's breathing filled the room. Right now, Hyunjin looked so peaceful and tranquil as he slept, his pain and sore throat forgotten as he snoozed in Felix's warm arms.
Later that afternoon, when Hyunjin had woken up in Felix's arms, he confirmed it. That was the best sleep in his life. He sighed contently and snuggled deeper into Felix's caring arms. Maybe whenever his insomnia kicked in, he could just... ask Felix to bring himself and some cake mix to the dorm? Hyunjin laughed at the thought.
All he knew was that he definitely wanted to try this again next time.
