A Compromising Situation

Summary:

Yoongi has to deal with Jungkook confessing overnight, and the turmoil that hits after turning him down despite it being for both of their sakes.

Work Text:

A head landed on Yoongi's lap.

Strange. There was ever only one of the seven who did that, but there wasn’t a white hat in sight; that hat Taehyung had absolutely refused to stop wearing no matter how many times Yoongi said he looked ridiculous with it.

Really, Taehyung 'looked ridiculous' in just about anything to Yoongi. He could be wearing a simple shirt and the most ordinary pair of pants, and Yoongi would still tap his shoulder, say, "You look ridiculous, by the way," then walk off as if he'd never interacted with Taehyung.

Inside joke.

Emphasis on the joke; Yoongi had to clarify at one point because Taehyung genuinely started feeling insecure in whatever he wore. Yoongi hadn't thought Taehyung would take it seriously, but they came to a mutual understanding that Yoongi wasn't going out of his way to make Taehyung feel horrible. That, nine times out of ten, he didn't look ridiculous.

Regardless.

Yoongi’s eyes fell from the screen of his tiny iPhone 4. Curious gaze landed on black hair, brown eyes, a black tank, ‘97’ written in white and bold numbers. Black wristbands, eyeshadow, smokey eyeliner.

Jungkook wasn't supposed to be back from school until two.

Studying the members' schedule wasn't completely out of Yoongi's convenience, interest was in that mix. He'd know when to get snacks for Namjoon, when to put an ungodly amount of SPF and collect Jungkook from school at exactly three in the afternoon, when to stop by a ramen shop and have a plastic tub in the microwave ready for Jimin.

The little things, anything to make their hectic schedules less of a pain.

"Hi."

"What?" Yoongi followed, monotone.

"How are you?"

From what Yoongi picked up, Jungkook just attempted to make conversation, probably bored out of his mind because Taehyung was still in class, so was Jimin. Namjoon had gotten trapped in his studio for the rest of the day, Yoongi had no clue what Hoseok and Seokjin were up to, but he hadn't seen them whatsoever.

Already hearing Jungkook's, "Okay, bye!" despite the younger one not having said anything along the lines of a goodbye had Yoongi looking at his phone again.

He resumed scrolling through their tweets.

"Yoongi?"

"I'm fine."

"Are you?"

Yoongi hummed, and Jungkook grabbed his wrist, tugging at it. He wasn't interested in what Jungkook tried to do, the kid was always up to something; in a way, Jungkook had taken from Seokjin, from Yoongi himself too.

He brought his phone closer to his face. He ignored Jungkook so much that he didn't catch a word the boy said, hearing nothing but an, ' Ugggh! ' of frustration. Along with it came Jungkook hitting his forehead on the edge of Yoongi's phone when he got up.

"Careful," Yoongi muttered, and a new weight settled on his lap. Still Jungkook, not just his head, but he sat on Yoongi's lap.

Compromising.

"Get off."

"No. Pay attention to me."

Yoongi didn't like being rough with the guys (when he was in a neutral mood). He knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of Hoseok's smacks when he laughed, of Jimin's back-of-the-shin kicks. He didn't want to contribute.

However, Jungkook tested him — and of course Yoongi wasn't going to be violent, he just hoped his glare was enough to tell Jungkook to get off before he grabbed him and gently placed him elsewhere.

Yoongi was oddly gentle with Jungkook, as Seokjin had once said.

Or Hoseok.

Or Jimin.

Really, Yoongi wasn't too sure. He was busy making sure he didn't accidentally slam Jungkook into the nearest surface after they had an argument; anyone else and he would've incidentally elbowed them.

He wasn't so immature nor violent on the daily.

— Monthly, however, would be correct. It depended on whether the guys caught him on a bad or good day.

"Are you listening to me?"

"I'm listen — "

"I like you."

Yoongi nodded.

He couldn't stop what Jungkook felt.

Didn't mean he'd play into it either; he placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder, his other staying down with his phone that'd been crassly pushed down.

"That's flattering, Jungkook, but — "

"I like you a lot and I hate how you keep ignoring me every time I try talking to you." Jungkook took Yoongi's hand, staring at him with big eyes. "What can I do to make it right?"

"I'm not ignoring you." Yoongi slithered his hand out of Jungkook's, bringing it to himself. "We can talk if you get off me."

"You are ignoring me! I was talking to you yesterday and you were pretending to sleep, but you talked to Hoseok and Jimin."

"I wasn't pretending to sleep. I wouldn't purposely ignore you."

They both knew that was a lie — but Yoongi mainly did it when Jungkook got on his nerves, which wasn't often. Still, an occurrence in which Jungkook would know he was being intentionally ignored.

Yoongi grabbed Jungkook's sides and he heard another groan from the boy, who got Yoongi's hands off him and moved himself on the couch.

"Fine. Do you like me back?" Jungkook questioned with crossed arms.

"It's... very flattering how you see something in me," Yoongi started, his hand finding Jungkook's shoulder again, unable to find anything else to say about the matter other than, "but no."

"Why not?"

Yoongi chuckled.

"You're a child."

"If I wasn't one, would you?"

"...Probably not, Kook. Probably not."

Yoongi let his hand slip away, return to the side of his phone; he'd been trying to let Jungkook down as easily as possible. Whole time, he saw Jungkook like his younger brother. Never in a million years would he treat him otherwise, whether he was sixteen or a hundred.

"Why not? Am I ugly?"

"No, I just — " Yoongi sighed and looked at Jungkook. He expected him to drop the conversation and run along, but he suddenly decided he wanted a concrete explanation. "You're sixteen, I'm twenty."

"I'm gonna be seventeen."

Jungkook wouldn’t be blowing out candles for the next ten months.

"Doesn't change anything."

"It does! I'm not a baby."

"I know, Jungkook. I know that." Jungkook, in Yoongi's and Seokjin's book, was definitely a baby — he'd been exposed to so much, yet so little. It was endearing, really. Yoongi wished he could have that naïvety back, but life can't be nice to everyone.

"You know, I don't think you should be seeing me like that," he continued, not thinking much of the harmless crush until Jungkook became insistent. Yoongi was ready to resume scrolling through social media and live with the fact Jungkook had practically come out and confessed to him on a Tuesday morning instead of going to school, but Yoongi couldn't go down that peaceful route.

Jungkook was determined to not let Yoongi have the peaceful route, it seemed.

"But why not?"

"Because."

"Because what?" Jungkook grabbed Yoongi's shoulders. "Give me an actual reason that isn't just our ages. I don't care that you're an adult, I won't say anything."

"Oh, woah, woah now," Yoongi moved away from Jungkook, "I think you should go. They've probably called the manager because you're skipping."

"Nuh-uh, I don't have classes today until night. I thought you memorized my timetable," Jungkook said. "Oh, whatever." He grabbed Yoongi's arm with a tight grip. "Give me a single valid reason and I'll leave you alone if it isn't stupid."

"I'm not doing this with you, Jungkook. Get out." Yoongi's tone came a lot harsher than he intended it to be, but as he was going to apologize, Jungkook gasped. His eye twitched and he hurled Yoongi's arm before storming out of the room.

Though Yoongi heard a sob beyond the door, he didn't chase after Jungkook. Granted, Jungkook was a teenager, but he was old enough to not react so volatilely.

Yoongi felt bad.

At the same time, he couldn't help having to stifle a laugh.

It all was sudden; Jungkook hadn't ever given hints that he liked him. Yoongi discounted the times his face had been cupped and brought dangerously close to Jungkook’s, the times Jungkook would stare at him for no specific reason, randomly coming up to him and engulfing him in a hug “just because.”

Those were all things Jungkook did with the whole group, especially Taehyung.

It took Taehyung waking up and deciding to be all over Jimin that had Yoongi realizing, maybe, Jungkook and Taehyung hadn't coupled up. It wasn't his business, of course, but he, Hoseok, and Seokjin did like to observe and report on their findings every now and then — they liked to gossip.

What had just gone on would go to Hoseok's ears before anyone else, especially with the crazy shit Jungkook said a minute ago about 'not telling anyone.'

Why was he assuming Yoongi's worry had been over him telling anyone about a hypothetical relationship that made him feel near nauseous?

Yoongi shouldn't have been jumping to conclusions, but boy was it hard not to. Clearly Jungkook was aware that he was way too young, also understood he'd be getting Yoongi in trouble, but he still wanted to proceed?

Yoongi stopped staring at the white wall, let himself close his eyes for a moment because they'd been so focused on the blinding colour. He resumed scrolling through replies, hashtags, photos. It took his mind off everything, not quite of Jungkook, but halfway there.

"I'm sorry," Jungkook mumbled, head hanging low while he stood before Yoongi, hands linked behind his back. "I shouldn't have left like that. I know you're just... I know we can't be together."

Yoongi didn't bother trying to get Jungkook's original sentence out of him, he just nodded.

"You don't have to apologize. It's alright."

"Please don't tell the others. I'm really embarrassed."

Jungkook was lucky Yoongi hadn't properly sat to talk with Hoseok. They'd waved at each other in the halls while on their way to opposite ends of the building, that was all they could get.

"I won't, don't worry about it," Yoongi assured, now having to keep it inside because Jungkook sounded like he was on the verge of tears. "Is there anything else?" he questioned when Jungkook remained still, staring at the ground.

"Um... can you help me with my homework? It's okay if you're busy, I just don't understand it and I've been on the same question for thirty minutes." Jungkook held out a sheet of paper, a pencil too. "It's English. I don't know what those words mean."

"Have you tried a translator?"

"We aren't allowed to use translators. That takes away the purpose of learning it."

Yoongi sighed.

Most of his studying had been on his own time, at his own pace, using a translator website and finding out what he'd been blindly repeating. It was like a game to him, it was fun.

Analyzing a block of text, something that seemed like a story, was not fun. It reminded him of being in school and having to sit through boring lessons for seven plus hours a day. The only difference was the language.

"It's okay if you don't — "

"Sit. Let's get it done," Yoongi said, looking for a chair, but Jungkook had a seat on his lap. "Jungkook — "

"I'm just sitting. You don't have chairs in here," Jungkook flipped the page, "don't make it weird, Yoongi. I do this with everyone. Kinda."

Yoongi kept both of his hands on the table.

He didn't know what Jungkook was playing at, or if he was playing anything at all, but he and Jungkook were better safe.

"What question don't you get?"

"Who... is... Who is Tommy's witness," Jungkook said, sounding like perfect English to Yoongi; he was quite qualified to vouch. He'd held an English conversation with Namjoon for a solid five minutes.

He didn't know exactly what he was saying, but he was speaking it.

"There's no witness in the story. It doesn't make sense,” Jungkook continued, flipping to the first page, where the block of text was written.

"Let me read it."

Jungkook slid the booklet to Yoongi and placed the green pencil on the table. The back of his head was on Yoongi's inner shoulder, he stared at the ceiling.

"Can you touch my hair, please?"

"..."

Yoongi carried on reading.

"Please?"

Yoongi carried on reading.

"Yoongi?"

Yoongi carried on reading.

"Touch my hair!"

" Tsk. Let me read, Jungkook. How do you want me to help you if I don't know what's going on?" Yoongi said, keeping his voice considerably calm so he wouldn't piss Jungkook off and have him storm out again, but it wasn't enough.

Jungkook still huffed and tried getting off his lap. Yoongi held him back, arm circling the boy's torso.

"Stay still. We're finishing your work and then you can go be moody somewhere else."

Yoongi did not mean to think out-loud just then, however, he faced the consequence and held Jungkook tighter, feeling the boy struggle behind his arm.

"Let me go!"

Yoongi had never seen Jungkook be so immature.

— Not that he wasn't expecting it.

"Alright," Yoongi shoved the paper aside, the sudden slam of the sheet making Jungkook jump and halt, "what is it? What's got you like this? Is it because I rejected you?"

Jungkook sniffled.

"It is?"

"No." Jungkook didn't look at Yoongi. "It's not because of that. That'd be stupid."

"Then, what is it?"

"Well," Jungkook's hands landed on Yoongi's arms, "uhh… can't we just finish the work?"

"What has you upset, Jungkook?"

"Let's finish the — "

"Talk to me."

Giving Jungkook a taste of his own medicine.

Trivial, childish, but he'd get something out of it: understanding, insight into what made Jungkook so irritable. He hadn't only been blowing up on Yoongi, but on Seokjin and Jimin too.

Somehow, on Taehyung.

Taehyung had told Yoongi earlier, scared he'd done something wrong and seeking advice on what to do, but Yoongi wasn't much help. Yoongi suggested waiting out the next two years for Jungkook to calm down, he'd only just started wreaking havoc in the place.

Two years late, but better late when he's still allowed to be all over the place than late when he's in his twenties, Yoongi had said.

"I don't want to talk. I just want to finish my work."

"No, no, you do want to talk. You say I keep ignoring you, but you have my attention, Jungkook. Say what's on your mind, kid," Yoongi said, letting the pet name slip, and Jungkook's lips pursed. He didn't call Jungkook 'kid' often, but when he did, Jungkook would giggle, say 'I'm not a kid,' then carry on with the conversation.

"I'm not a fucking kid."

"Don't change the subject."

"You keep seeing me as if I were a literal child. I'm not." Jungkook turned to Yoongi. "I know what I want, Yoongi. I want yo — "

"Thomas is the witness," Yoongi interrupted. "Write that down. It's the last question on there."

Jungkook huffed and grabbed his pencil. While he wrote, Yoongi watched. That was all he could do.

"Okay." Jungkook set the paper back and looked at Yoongi.

"Isn't it your bedtime soon?"

"I don't have a bedtime. I am sixteen."

"You don't have to keep reminding me your age. I know," Yoongi said, finally placing a hand on Jungkook's head to get him to settle down.

He wasn't sure if it worked or not at first, but Jungkook smiled, and that was all Yoongi had to see to continue.

The act was fairly innocent, and it wasn't like Yoongi could exactly keep his hands off Jungkook's soft hair either way. The same occurred with Jimin; Yoongi was yet to find out what conditioner they used.

"You should sleep," Yoongi began again, "you'll be tired in the morning."

"Yoongi, you're ignoring me again," Jungkook mumbled, despite having Yoongi's hand on his head and being spoken to.

"I'm not."

"You are." Jungkook's eyes flickered to him. They'd gone tired in an instant. "Please say something back."

"What do you want me to say?"

"I..." Jungkook stared at Yoongi, mouth hanging open. He went to bite his lower lip then shook his head, just looking front, blankly. "I don't know. I don't know what I want you to say. I want you to know that I want you, and I like you a lot, and I think I'm going slightly crazy."

Yoongi was practically being forced to listen to him.

"Why's that?"

Jungkook pulled his sleeves over his hands, lip finding itself between his teeth again. In an effort to ease him, Yoongi dropped his hand and placed it on the side of Jungkook's arm.

"Do you want to stop talking about it?" Yoongi said just as he noticed Jungkook's eyes had gone watery.

"I should really go," Jungkook whispered, and Yoongi didn't hold him back. He let the boy venture out.

But he'd left his homework behind.

Yoongi brought it toward himself.

There was no name section, no date section, nothing.

All he saw was a website at the bottom of the page, though Jungkook had told him all material was made by the professors so they couldn't cheat their way through.

The paper went to his clipboard. He placed it above a sheet of lyrics Namjoon had given him, returning his pen between the clip.

Although he tried concentrating on what he was doing, Yoongi couldn't do it. His eyes kept going to the door, trying to see if the boy would return, but he didn't.

For weeks.

Yoongi knew he was being avoided by the third day. It slightly pained him.

Still knew it was for the better.

All the way to the twenty-fourth day, he hadn't once dropped that mindset, that he and Jungkook were better off separated.

Yoongi wasn't looking to act upon anything, but Jungkook clearly was. He needed time away, time with people his own age, but Yoongi wasn't quite sure if Jungkook had been getting that time.

"Yeah, online school. I heard he's not doing well in class, something about anxiety," Hoseok said, exactly when Jungkook entered the bathroom, letting them talk freely for a couple of minutes.

"Anxiety?"

"Doctor's diagnosis." Hoseok put his phone on the couch, sighing and copying Yoongi's position of sitting back and crossing his arms over his abdomen. "Don't trust me, though. I haven't talked to him directly, Jimin and I were busy. This is all I've heard from Namjoon, who heard from Hitman." Hoseok chuckled. "Even he doesn't know what's going on sometimes," he mumbled.

Yoongi could not have been more grateful Hoseok kept his voice down. He couldn’t afford to get fired, their career was only just starting.

"What else have you heard?" Yoongi questioned, and Hoseok gave him a quick side-eye, giggling. "Huh?"

"And you say you aren't nosey."

Yoongi nudged Hoseok. "Hurry up before he gets back."

"I don't know if I should tell you the rest. Namjoon said some stuff that doesn’t sound like Jungkook," Hoseok said. "You’re focused on him already, I don't want you to get unnecessarily wary over something that's probably not true."

"What is it?"

"Pay attention to his arms. If you don't see anything, then it's a lie. If you do, well."

Yoongi looked at Hoseok.

"What does that mean?"

"You'll understand soon."

Cryptic.

Yoongi let their conversation die and watched Jungkook exit the bathroom. He fidgeted with his sleeves to bring them down, nothing abnormal about it.

He watched Jungkook go all the way to his chair, ready to get a brush dragged across his face multiple times, and still saw nothing on his arms, or about them.

Yoongi looked to his right, but Hoseok wasn't there anymore.

His mouth closed.

Curiosity could be a major bitch at times.

Yoongi could testify; it hadn't left him alone ever since Jungkook stood right next to him a few days ago.

Jungkook didn't look at him, he just stood, then left to go grab something and did not return to Yoongi's side.

That wasn't what bothered Yoongi.

What bothered him was the lack of information. He wasn't even sure if Jungkook was doing online school, if he'd been diagnosed with anything. Yoongi didn't want to bring it up to Hoseok, the guy had been selective with his information the last time, and Yoongi wasn't trying to parkour his way around it.

He went straight to the source, knocked on Jungkook's door at a little past one.

Because there was no response after three knocks, Yoongi let himself in.

A figure hid underneath the cream sheets.

Yoongi approached it, the cocoon, and his body leaned to the left to see Jungkook properly.

Jungkook's lashes were wet, cheeks were a dusty pink. For the first time in a long time, he wasn't wearing any eye makeup; in his state, Yoongi had no doubt it would've completely smudged and made a mess on the bed.

"Hi," Yoongi whispered, getting down to Jungkook's level.

He usually didn't do this. Not for Namjoon, not for Hoseok, not for Seokjin, never for Jimin because they never quite argued, and very rarely for Taehyung.

However, it was necessary to have a proper conversation with Jungkook. He wanted everything to return to how it was, for them to just be bandmates and friends off the stage.

"Do you want to talk?" he began, and Jungkook stared at him, mouth hidden behind the blanket.

"I can leave you alone if you need time," Yoongi offered, placing a hand on Jungkook's head; he felt like he was taking care of him while sick, or because he hadn't gone to school for X reason.

Often, Yoongi was appointed to get Jungkook out of his room, cheer him up. Jungkook had become almost a mini version of him, and Yoongi knew exactly what he had to do. He'd look within and execute what he felt would have himself feel a little less shitty.

A method yet to fail.

"Please don't go."

"Okay," Yoongi responded, petting Jungkook's hair. It was slightly damp, not abhorrently wet. He would still comfortably bring his hands through Jungkook's hair in an effort to soothe him, and Yoongi was done playing oblivious. "Why aren't you in class?"

"I feel... scared. It's intimidating, I want to do it from here," Jungkook said, reaching his hand out. The blanket dropped from his mouth. "Hobi and Namjoon know I got those evaluation things. Management thinks I have anxiety issues so they're letting me stay here, with you."

"With me?"

Jungkook chuckled. "Not you specifically, but we're in the same house," he clarified, and Yoongi thought of taking Hoseok's word more often; his gaze drifted to Jungkook's hand, his arm, his wrist. All of it was covered by his red sweater.

"And that night you were in my studio?" Yoongi brought up, his hand going down to Jungkook's arm. The younger one winced and brought his hand back. "What's wrong?"

"I told you I went to my friend's house for a project, right?"

Yoongi sensed an excuse.

"Yeah."

"She has a cat and it kept scratching me, it was called... Lu? Lulu? I don't know. But my arms have a bunch of scratches because I wore a short-sleeve, and now it looks like something else," Jungkook said, mumbling some of his words.

Cat scratches; Yoongi was keeping that in mind.

"Did you bandage them?"

"I did, but they're gonna hurt until they heal."

"Can I see?"

"Um." Jungkook shook his head. "No, every time I pull up the sweater, the bandaids act weird and pull my skin. Why do you wanna see?"

Unfortunately for Jungkook, Yoongi, too, had an excuse for everything.

"Wanted to know if they were severe or not."

"Oh, no. Not anymore. It happened last week," Jungkook said, moving under the blanket. "Anyway, why are you here?"

"Studio."

"I don't wanna — "

"What did you mean you felt going crazy?" Yoongi asked, and Jungkook sighed.

"I get into these moods where I'll say a bunch of stuff I don't mean. I don't know why, but it just happens, Yoongi. Ignore it," Jungkook dismissed.

Yoongi smiled.

"You don’t actually like me?"

"Will it make you happy if I say yes? That I don't like you and I was just feeling too much at once?" he said, and Yoongi's smile went away. "It's not the truth, but will it?"

Yoongi stayed quiet.

"I," Jungkook cupped Yoongi's cheeks, "can't stop thinking about you."

Yoongi didn't take away Jungkook's hands. He needed to express himself in some way, after all.

"I keep trying to avoid you because I know you're uncomfortable around me, but I can't do it."

"I'm not uncomfortable around you."

"You're not?"

Yoongi shook his head. "I don't appreciate what happened in the common room, but that doesn't change that you're my friend," he said, and Jungkook shut his eyes for a moment, nodding then opening his eyes. "I know you want us to be more, but — "

"I need us to be more. When I'm eighteen? Please?"

Yoongi would feel like even more of a creep if he agreed to that.

"I'm consenting to it."

"You can't consent."

"I can. It's my body and my feelings and my future and you're mine." Jungkook's thumbs pressed Yoongi's cheek. "Okay?"

Though confused about the 'body' mention, Yoongi replied, "I don't belong to you," followed by a quiet chuckle.

He placed his hands around Jungkook's wrists, noticing the tint of pink shadowing Jungkook's face, but he still wore a smile.

Yoongi carried on, "If teasing me makes you happy, fine. But don't say this type of stuff around the guys."

There just seemed to be zero way to stop it, the jokes that weren't jokes but Yoongi had to convince himself they were so he wouldn't snap at Jungkook.

"I know."

I know?

Yoongi couldn't help go through the same thought trail he'd gone down while on the couch in the common room.

"Is it okay if I ask something personal?"

"Only if you tell me I'm pretty."

"You're very, very talented, Jungkook. You'll look great on stage tonight," Yoongi said.

"I said pretty, but I'll take it." Jungkook's thumbs continued caressing Yoongi's face and he prompted, "What's it about? My sex life or something?"

Bold.

"I don't need to know about that," Yoongi started, a bit concerned on how a sixteen year old already had any of that. "Have you ever dated outside your... age group?"

"Pfft. Age group," Jungkook muttered. "I haven't dated someone my age. Why're you asking?"

Hope filled Jungkook's eyes, and before Yoongi could cut in, Jungkook said, "Do you want to date me? Oh — yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" Jungkook quickly nodded, a huge smile on his face. "Where are we going? I — I won't tell anyone, I promise!"

"No — No, Jungkook. I don't want to date you." Yoongi carefully took Jungkook's hands off his face, keeping his thumbs on the sides of his wrists, hands covering the outer instead of the inner to not touch the cat scratches. "It’s... not normal. What you're saying."

"What?" Jungkook's expression dropped. "What's not normal?"

"You keep saying you won't tell anyone, have you — "

Jungkook took his hands back, slipping past Yoongi. He resumed laying on his side. "You never just pay attention to me," Jungkook muttered, a dull expression on his face again. "Why can't you talk to me?"

"...Huh?"

"You're not talking to me. You're just — ugggh! " Jungkook turned on his back and threw the blanket over himself. "Get out of my room."

"Jungkook, I am talking to you."

"You're not!" Jungkook said from under the blanket. "You're never present with me."

Yoongi wondered how many more accusations Jungkook had in his back pocket.

"What does that mean?"

"You don't care," Jungkook mumbled, and Yoongi grabbed the blanket, pulling it down. Jungkook's eyes had gone red and teary again.

"I do care. C'mon." Yoongi let the blanket fall on Jungkook, keeping his head exposed. "Just tell me, have you? Have you dated someone years older than you?"

"You won't give me a chance. It doesn't matter if I have experience or not," Jungkook muttered, hands moving under the blanket.

Yoongi was finding it hard to not copy that little sound of irritation Jungkook made every time he somehow said something off-script, however, he held back.

"It's not about you having experience, it's about it being illegal."

"I wanted it."

"You're a kid."

Jungkook took his pillow from under his head and threw it at Yoongi. "Get out of my room!" Jungkook screeched, hiding under the blanket again and driving Yoongi out of there.

When Yoongi stepped into his room with Seokjin, the vocalist looked at him with a raised brow.

"Why was Jungkook screaming?"

"No reason."

Jungkook climbed on Yoongi, sitting on his lap.

"Hi."

"Hi," Jungkook responded, his palms on Yoongi's shoulders. "Um, sorry — "

"You don't have to apologize." Yoongi refused to look at Jungkook. "Can you get off?"

"Listen to m — "

"I've listened to you enough, Jungkook. Get off," Yoongi said, looking at Jungkook. Instantly, Jungkook’s eyes watered. "Go cry somewhere else," he muttered.

"I'm sorry."

Yoongi didn't respond, continuing to type until Jungkook's hand landed on the screen, pushing the phone down like the first time.

"I said I'm sorry."

"You can go now."

"No. Accept it."

Yoongi set his phone aside and grabbed Jungkook's sides, placing the smaller boy on the couch. Jungkook giggled. Yoongi grabbed his phone and maintained a straight face. There was nothing amusing about anything going on. Jungkook was trying to be a pain in the ass again.

He went to leave the room, but Jungkook stood against the door.

"Touch me and I'll scream," Jungkook whispered.

"You're insane," Yoongi finally said; it'd been a thought that hadn't left him alone in all his time of being without Jungkook. "Move."

"Make me."

The phone dropped into his pocket and Yoongi lifted Jungkook, placing him over his shoulder, legs kicking as if it'd do anything but slightly make Yoongi lose balance.

"Put me down!" Jungkook screamed, continuing to kick all the way to the practice room; Namjoon stopped them in the hall, asking what the hell was going on.

"Nothing, nothing," Yoongi dismissed, entering the practice room and slamming the door shut.

Jungkook fell silent.

Yoongi dropped Jungkook on the ground, making sure he was steady because he didn’t want to hand him a reason to be loud.

"You are going to listen to me — "

"Blah-blah-blah, I can't hear you," Jungkook said with his hands over his ears, and Yoongi really shouldn't have chuckled, but he couldn't help it.

"I'm being serious," Yoongi said, and Jungkook's hands came down.

"Fine. What?"

"Stop being so... weird, around me. When I tell you to get off, you get off me," Yoongi said, and Jungkook had a seat on the floor, giggling. "I'm being serious, Jungkook. It makes me uncomfortable."

"I wouldn't have to do that if it wasn't the only way to get you to listen to me," Jungkook said, laying, kicking Yoongi's foot so he could stretch his legs. When Yoongi didn't move and only stared down at him, Jungkook grunted and placed his legs on either side of Yoongi's, staring up at him. "I don't do things 'cause I'm crazy."

"Uh-huh."

"Necessarily," Jungkook continued. "I do it because that's all I can do. I mean," Yoongi stepped over the leg in his way and walked to Jungkook’s side, crouching down as Jungkook watched, "I don't know how Taehyung gets your attention. Can't copy him."

"I am listening to you."

"Mm, now you are. It's only when you wanna listen too.” Jungkook glanced at him. “This would be a perfect time to kiss me," he whispered.

Yoongi leaned down, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

"I'll take it," Jungkook muttered, chuckling. Yoongi had a seat beside Jungkook. "It's comfortable down here," Jungkook said, a hand on the older one's forearm, gently tugging. Yoongi joined him, laying, eyes closing.

"I... think I can accept it," Jungkook said.

"Accept?" Yoongi questioned, wondering how Jungkook planned accepting anything when his mood changed every other minute.

"Yeah. How we can't be anything," Jungkook continued.

"Oh."

"...Mm."

"That's good," Yoongi replied, feeling a hand on his.

"Can I...?"

"Sure."

Jungkook had done a lot more than just grab his hand. Yoongi could tolerate it.

"Can we, um, stay here?"

"Until?"
