Work Text:

"Gatinho?" Roier asked as he looked around the boat he’d just about managed to scramble onto, "Gatinho? Donde estas? Cellbo?"
He wasn’t there. The timer ticked down, frantically Roier reached into his pocket and grasped his communication device as he felt it buzz. ‘Adios Guapito’ He read over the message a few times ‘no pendejo’ he wasn’t going to leave without his husband, he was all he had left. The device buzzed again and he looked down at it, as he read the message tears threatened to spill from his eyes ‘te amo’
"No, no, no" ‘dónde estás?’
‘Take care of yourself guapito, te amo’
‘dónde estás?’ he repeated.
He stood still, waiting for a response, but it didn’t come. The timer had reached zero and the boat started sailing away as the island in front of them exploded.
"GATINHO" he cried out, the tears he had previously been able to hold back started spilling out. "No, no, por favor Cellbit, por favor no"
He fell to the floor, his legs no longer able to hold his body. He’d lost him. The one person he knew he couldn’t live without. He had lost him.

A voice snapped him out of his thoughts, "Roier?"
"Si" he replied, not bothering to turn around. He recognised the voice, Philza, the man who had taken care of him the past week.
"It's going to be okay."
"Is it? Because it doesn’t feel like it." Roier snapped, immediately regretting it. Phil was going through just as much as he was. He’d lost both of his children and Cellbit too, Roier wasn’t entirely sure what relationship Philza had with his husband but he knew that Cellbit felt safe around him, he understood why. There was something about Philza that made everyone feel safe and, honestly, they all needed that. None of them were okay.
"I’m sorry, i didn’t mean to snap at you"
"It's alright, you're hurting. I understand, we all do."

Roier looked around the ship once more, there were many people that hadn’t made it on and everyone that was there looked miserable. Fit was sat in the corner, staring at the wall, Bagi was stood looking back towards where the island used to be through the window, Charlie looked almost empty, Tubbo looked exhausted and Philza looked how you would expect a man to look after being stuck in purgatory for two weeks, which made sense as that was exactly what had happened to him.

He looked around again and noticed that nobody had their partner with them, Fit didn’t have Pac, Bagi didn’t have Tina, Charlie didn’t have Mariana and Phil didn’t have Missa. They were all in the same situation, although his was slightly different as he and Cellbit were married.

He turned back around as he felt someone sit down on the floor next to him, "Why did this happen Philza? Why do I always have to lose the people that I care for the most? It’s not fair. It’s not fair at all."
"It really isn’t fair, Roier," he paused for a second as he thought about what he should say, "He really loved you, you know."
"He wouldn’t shut up about you" Philza said with a sad smile on his face "You made him happier than you could ever imagine, thank you for that"
Roier didn’t quite know what to say so he didn’t say anything, he just smiled at Phil, tears pouring down his face. He didn’t know why he felt so safe around the elder man, he just did and he wasn’t going to complain about it.

He felt a pair of wings wrap around his shoulders, he glanced towards Phil but he didn’t seem to have even noticed his wings being wrapped around the younger one’s shoulders. Roier wondered if he had done it subconsciously, he had lost his children today, maybe he saw him as a son. If he did then Roier definitely reciprocated the feeling, he’d lost both of his fathers today too and he was perfectly happy for Philza to fill that role until they were all mentally stable enough to go about their lives.

Roier leaned into Phil, laying his head on his shoulder. He felt safe for the first time in two weeks, he finally felt safe enough to be able to drift off to sleep. Although he secretly hoped he wouldn’t wake up so he’d be able to be in his husband’s arms once again. One day. One day they’ll meet again, Roier was sure of that.
