Work Text:

"Sieun-ah", Suho said, poking the other's leg with his pen. They had been studying on the floor in Suho's room for what felt like hours and Suho felt his ability to focus decreasing by every passing minute.

Sieun's shoulders were relaxed and his dark hair fell to his eyes, looking lighter than normal in the late afternoon light. Suho wondered what it would be like to run his fingers through the silken strands and gently pull him closer.

"Hmm?" Sieun replied, absent-minded, his eyes still glued to the textbook on his lap.

"You never told me when's your birthday," Suho said, rolling around the pen between his fingers.

Sieun had told him once that he hadn't really celebrated birthdays in years due to his parents being absent most of the time. It had broken Suho's heart, and he swore to himself he would make Sieun's birthday unforgettable once it came around.

"November 3rd."

"I'm older than you, then," Suho grinned, visibly delighted by the fact.

"Barely," Sieun remarked with a glance, and yes, Suho knew it was only a few months, but he was in a mood to tease Sieun a bit.

"Yah, shouldn't you respect your elders?" he said with a fake-annoyed tone.

"Okay then, hyung," Sieun replied, taunting him.

Despite the clear mockery in his tone, Suho's heart staggered in his chest and he felt a blush rising to his cheeks. Something about the way Sieun called him an honorfic implying closeness like that made his heartbeat go off-kilter.

"I didn't mean- I was just- you-" Suho stuttered, completely unlike his normal self. Sieun turned to him with a look.

"You're red in the face," he commented with that blank look of his still plastered on.

"No, I'm not," Suho denied immediately and then cringed at himself. He didn't usually lose his oh-so-cool facade like this, but he had come to realize that things didn't exactly follow their normal routes when it came to Sieun.

Sieun gave him an unimpressed look.

"Oh really? Then why are your ears burning like this, hmm?" he teased, suddenly lifting his hand to caress Suho's ear between his forefinger and thumb.

Suho's stomach did something akin to a backflip. It was such a rarity for Sieun to tease him like this, let alone initiate such an intimate touch. Suho could only stare at him in shock, feeling his face get a shade of scarlet. He desperately hoped Sieun wouldn't notice his deepening blush, knowing that with how attentive the boy was, the changes of it were very slim.

Then, miraculously, the side of Sieun's mouth twitched, and he huffed out a full on smile. And oh, that smile hadn't lost its charm. Suho highly doubted it ever would. These days, he found himself doing his utmost just to get Sieun to crack one of those heart-fluttering smiles of his that Suho held dear.

"This is funny to you?" Suho asked, still astounded at the curl of Sieun's lips in front of him.

"A bit," Sieun shrugged. "You like to be called hyung?"

"Shut up, oh my god," Suho whined with no hint of actual annoyance and squirmed on his spot.

Sieun just watched him, eyes attentive as ever, not relenting even for one second.

"I just like that you feel close enough to me to call me like that," Suho added a bit later, his voice quiet and his eyes wandering to the distance between their legs on the floor.

Sieun only hummed in reply, and when Suho dared to look up at him, he had gone back to the textbook in front of him.

Suho couldn't form any sensible words so he just settled upon gently nudging Sieun with his elbow, getting another tilt of his lips out of Sieun, small and so adorable Suho wanted to hold him impossibly close.

"Stop staring and go back to studying," Sieun commanded, but his tone wasn't very convincing. It was soft. Almost fond.

"Yes, sir," Suho replied anyway and slid closer to Sieun and his book.

When he reached out to wrap his arms around Sieun from behind, positioning his chin on Sieun's shoulder to see the text better, Sieun simply stayed still and let him, leaning back against Suho a bit.

Suho wished they could stay like that forever.
