Escape

Summary:

Rumours of a romantic relationship between Junho and Yoona go viral and all Junho can think about is making things clear with his girlfriend Yubi. His efforts don't go quite as expected, thanks to one former member of Mblaq, Lee Joon.

Notes:

I was watching Escape of the Seven and couldn't help but feel in love with the chemistry between Lee YuBi and Lee Joon. They look so beautiful together and I wanted to write them but remembered I have a series with Yubi and Junho. A few months ago, I had outlined a story when rumours of Junho and Yoona dating came out so I was like let me just combine the two and here we are!

Chapter 1: You're My Everything

Chapter Text

Junho freaked out as his manager called to enquire about his dating rumour with YoonA. Whilst his manager was confused as to when he had broken up with Yubi, Junho was just worried such news would actually put an end to his relationship with the love of his life. As soon as the call ended, he hurriedly called Yubi but her phone was occupied and he couldn't go through.

Truth is, Yubi had already expressed her discomfort over Yoona and Junho's closeness but Junho had reassured her that there was nothing going on. They had even gone for a double date just to make her comfortable so this rumor didn't serve him at all. Whilst he was still freaking out over Yubi's silence, Yoona called him.

"Junho-yah,"

"Umm?"

"Have you talked to Yubi? I'm sure she's seen the articles. There are so many of them."

"I can't reach her. Trying to call but her line is busy or maybe she blocked me."

"No, she wouldn't block you but go and see her dummy. Call in sick or something and go make sure your girl knows she's the only one you got!"

"You're usually a brat but you're being so sweet right now. Thank you Yoona."

Without wasting more time, they hung up and Junho sent his manager a quick message telling him he wouldn't make it today. Whilst he was putting his manager into a tight spot, he knew he could make a plan and would be understanding. He made a mental note to buy him the latest Nike shoe as a thank you soon.

Junho tried Yubi's number several more times on his way to her apartment but she wouldn't pick up. When he got there, he felt disdain when he couldn't find her. Throwing caution to the wind, he ended up calling Dain though he really wanted to avoid that.

"Junho-ssi, she is here at my house." Was the response Junho got then Dain cut the call before he even said a word. Junho took a deep breath as he went out the house to go to Dain and Seunggi's place.

Upon arrival, Seunggi quickly buzzed him in and gave him a friendly hug.

"That was fast!" Dain exclaimed as he got into the lounge where she was seated after the greetings. He felt bummed when he couldn't spot Yubi anywhere close.

"I thought Yubi was here?" He asked, hoping she hadn't lied to him.

"She is," Seunggi asnwered instead. "Just that when Dain told her you're coming, she left to go to the guest room."

"Can I please see her? Where is your guest room?" Junho wanted to talk and get things cleared as soon as yesterday.

"Before you go…" Dain started and it took thirty minutes of Junho having to hear their disbelief and disappointment at the news and how it should be avoided by all means. He really understood them and did his best to convince them that he would sort things out. Finally finally they let him go.

Yubi was crouched in a baby position on the bed of the guesthouse facing away from the door. She didn't make any noise of acknowledgement as Junho entered. He walked in and lied right behind her, spooning her and she didn't make a move.

"Baby," he tried and she remained still and quiet as if she was sleeping but he knew better. "I'm so sorry." He said anyway as she kept her silence. "You are my only love. You do know that right."

She remained quiet and it was driving him crazy. It was better for her to shout at him or throw things to his face than her silence. He had no idea what was going on in her mind and that was killing him.

"Baby, please." He begged, "Say something, anything." But she didn't reply. He started rubbing circles on her tummy and for a moment he thought she had fallen asleep until he noticed a text message alert on her phone. From his position, he could see her phone perfectly well and she didn't try to hide it.

Changsun-Oppa💐

Yubi-yah, I am here for you. We can go to my house or wherever you want. Don't be hurting alone.

Junho felt a pang in his chest as he read that. Yubi and Lee Joon had gotten very close ever since they started filming for their drama Escape of the Seven. It made him slightly uncomfortable but after everything he and Yubi had been through together, he didn't think their closeness mattered. Until now.

Without sending a response, Yubi gently detached Junho's hands from her tummy and quickly rose from the bed to go to the bathroom as she dialled Lee Joon's number. Junho was sincerely too stunned to speak. He understood she'd be upset but they were the type to talk things through, not ignore an issue and let it fester. She took long in the bathroom and Junho neither heard her conversation nor found the strength to follow her. When she came out, she had freshened up and she walked straight past him and into the lounge. That was when he jolted into action and followed her there. He was not going to let another man comfort her during this vulnerable time.

"Where are you going?" He asked her and she blatantly ignored him making him furious, he couldn't take it. "I said where are you going?" He asked again, this time after grabbing her hand and forcing her to face him.

She just started nonchalantly at him until Seunggi came to detangle his hand and dragged him back to the guestroom.

"Why are you all being like this?"Junho fumed. He didn't get it.

"Junho-yah, Yubi-ssi has long been uncomfortable with your closeness to Yoona-yah. It doesn't help matters that she's my ex too. It's been crazy with the sisters and I can't do much to help you." He gave an apologetic smile, "Allow her to go through this her own way. You just have to trust that she'll come to you once she's comfortable enough to."

Junho sat on the bed and covered his face in defeat. "Nothing is going on between us though hyung."

"I know and I know Yubi-ssi also knows that." Seunggi responded.

"Then why is she making this so difficult?" Junho couldn't help but ask.

"Because I think a part of her thinks Yoona-yah is better for you." Came the reply that Junho didn't expect.

"What do you mean? Why would she think that?"

"You two have been together for years now but you still haven't made your relationship public. I know that shouldn't mean anything but a part of her thinks you'll never want to go public with her, because of her family's reputation. You saw how hard it was for me and Dain. She doesn't think you'll be able to survive the backlash."

Junho understood, he had thought about it too and wondered what would happen to him and his career if he let their relationship known. However, he didn't think that was enough to break them up. "So? She wants us to go public to prove my love for her?"

Seunggi quickly shook his head,"No!" Came his quick refusal, "That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying once she gets comfortable, talk about that with her. Have that conversation, don't just ignore it like it doesn't exist."

Junho nodded and thanked him just before hearing Dain knock on the door. "Unnie is leaving, with Changsun-ssi." And Junho bolted out the door to the lounge.

"Don't go! Please!" He felt weak and knew he was appearing weak right now. Lee Joon just looked at him in shock before turning a questioning gaze at Yubi.

For the first time that day, he finally heard Yubi's voice but she wasn't addressing him. "I'll explain, in the car. Let us go."

The two bid the others farewell and whilst Lee Joon did it properly, Yubi did it very casually and skipped Junho all together. The worst part of his day was seeing Lee Joon hold Yubi's hand as he led her out and she didn't even spare him a glance.

"Wow." He heard Seunggi exclaim.

"Did that just happen?" He muttered more to himself than to anyone else.

Dain just shrugged before offering him some tea, which he declined gracefully before bidding the couple farewell.

"I'm sorry about all this," Seunggi said with a comforting pat on Junho's shoulder.

"Why are you sorry?" Dain interjected, "Why should you be sorry?"

"Because no matter what, that's not something he should have seen." Seunggi explained, "It is obvious that Lee Joon-ssi likes your sister. I'm not saying she's going to cheat but that shouldn't have happened. It's not fair. You're just trampling all over his pride."

"Well, unnie has every right to be consoled by Changsun-ssi. She deserves a man who is proud of her and doesn't hesitate to show her off to the world. A man who will love and stand by her like you did for me."

"Relationships are different babe," Seunggi tried to reason with her.

"And that's why some will end up in marriage whilst others end up as break-ups." With that, she left to go to their bedroom.

"I hit rock bottom with this one didn't I?" Junho laughed dryly as he stood up. "Thank you hyung, let me try and see how best I can fix this."

"Fighting!" Seunggi said as he walked him to the door.

Junho felt so exhausted but he wasn't going to let his relationship run down the drain so easily. He would be damned.
