Work Text:
“97 down, 964 to go.” Ken said as he checked off an area on his Digivice.
He sighed and wondered why he had put so many of these stupid Dark Spire things everywhere.
“Why did I️ ever think that putting up this many Control Spires was a good idea?” He said mostly to himself.
Wormmon attempted a shrug but couldn’t really do it on account of the fact that he didn’t have any shoulders since he was a caterpillar. “Well you weren’t in your right mind when you were the Kaiser. But now you’re back to being the kind, nice Ken-Chan I️ remember.” Wormmon told him.
“Yeah I️ guess you’re right.” Ken sighed. He still had a lot to make up for and especially to Wormmon.
“Ken-Chan you’re doing that thing again, where you think too hard. You know what I’m talking about.” Wormmon said, breaking the silence.
“I️ know, it’s just that I️ know I️ hurt you in so many ways when I️ was the Kaiser. I️ can’t stop thinking about it.” Ken said.
He tried not to think about it too much, but every time he held Wormmon he couldn’t help but notice the faint scars from the Kaiser’s whip, and bruising from being kicked around so much. Those were his hands holding that whip, his feet kicking Wormmon like he meant nothing to him. “You’re still doing it Ken.” Wormmon sighed.
“Your idea of engineering the Crest of Kindness’ power to help destroy these Control Spires was ingenious. But I️ bet it would be even faster if we tried Digivolving.” Wormmon said, trying to change the subject to something more productive.
Ken sighed again. “But we still don’t know if it will work and I️ don’t want you getting hurt. Plus, doesn’t Digivolving require some kind of bond? I’m not deserving of any kind of bond with you after what I’ve done to you.” He said.
Wormmon looked at him with sad eyes. Ken hated seeing that look. He remembered that look from when he was the Kaiser. Wormmon would look at him like that when he was trying to convince Ken not to do something stupid and evil. When Wormmon was trying to see the old nice Ken-Chan that he knew was in there.
“What do you mean? Of course you deserve to have a bond with me, I’m your partner.” Wormmon said.
Ken was tempted to say yes just to avoid a similar conversation he remembered having with Wormmon. It had been after Agumon had escaped, after Wormmon had apparently released him, when Wormmon had tried to convince Ken to use him in his experiments. Ken had said no and told Wormmon he was useless along with apparently comparing him to a pair of old underwear (which he thought was pretty low even for him). He’d kicked Wormmon around a bit and taunted him about what he’d even Digivolve into. Suddenly he remembered something else about that event. Something that Wormmon had done when he’d had enough of the Kaiser’s abuse and had just snapped. Ken thought he remembered Wormmon actually Digivolving and trying to destroy him in a crazed fit of rage. It was maybe the only time that he’d ever really been truly scared when he was the Kaiser. Every Digimon he enslaved was under his control and he knew the DigiDestined kids would never actually kill him. This new crazed Digivolved form of Wormmon however, could have easily killed him in a matter of minutes. Ken honestly couldn’t blame him. If a Digimon came up to them and tried to destroy Ken specifically, he wasn’t sure he’d even try to defend himself. He’d only do it if Wormmon were in danger. The only thing he cared about was Wormmon and making up for his actions. Other than that, he didn’t see much purpose in him existing in the Digital World. He shook himself back into the present and nibbled on some of his lunch that he had brought from the Real World for him and Wormmon to have a picnic with. Wormmon always ate his plants as if he didn’t know when his next meal would be. And like each meal could be his last.
“I️ never fed you when I️ was the Kaiser, did I️? That’s why you eat so much so fast. You didn’t know when your next meal would be. I’ll add that to the list of crap I️ need to make up for.” Ken said.
“It’s ok Ken. I️ found my own food. And eventually Vmon started bringing me food. He was really nice to me despite me helping you try to kill him when you were the Kaiser.” Wormmon said.
“Vmon? You mean Daisuke’s Digimon? I️ never realized you two knew each other. If he ever has the misfortune of seeing me again then I’ll make sure to thank him for bringing you food.” Ken said
“Anyone who meets you is very fortunate. There is no misfortune there.” Wormmon said as he snuggled up next to Ken on the picnic blanket.
It felt nice. Having Wormmon snuggled up to him, not even afraid of him anymore. Ken hadn’t help but notice that Wormmon used to instinctively flinch away from his feet sometimes. Just another thing they’d have to talk about. Ken sat with his back against a tree and Wormmon in his lap. The forest was so peaceful that he fell asleep.
Of course Wormmon knew deep down that Ken had hurt him during his time as the Kaiser. He never wanted to admit it since he knew it wasn’t Ken’s fault. He hated that there were still moments when he’d look at Ken and for a split second he saw the Kaiser. He knew the nice kind Ken-Chan was back, of course. But the Kaiser had hurt him in ways that he couldn’t tell Ken about or else it would freak Ken out. Wormmon had a feeling that even if the scars from the whip and bruising from being kicked around (which were somehow still there even after being reborn) faded, the memories would still be there forever.
“Now you’re doing it. Thinking too hard.” Ken told Wormmon.
“Am not.” Wormmon insisted.
“Are too.” Ken said back.
“Yeah maybe I️ am. But it’s just to get back at you for thinking too hard first.” Wormmon answered.
Wormmon hadn’t realized that he ate so fast and so desperately until Ken pointed it out to him. He really hadn’t known where his next meal would come from or if he’d even last long enough to make it to the next one.
“That’s fair.” Ken said.
Wormmon snuggled up to Ken. It felt nice, no longer instinctively being afraid of Ken’s feet. He wasn’t the Kaiser anymore, he was the nice kind Ken-Chan that he remembered. He crawled into Ken’s lap so that they could take a nap in this nice peaceful forest.
He woke up to the sound of Ken yelling in pain and electricity coursing through Wormmon’s body. He immediately went through the infinite scenarios of these that could be wrong. When he was able to open his eyes he saw one of the worser scenarios. Where a bunch of normally peaceful or mild tempered Digimon were attacking Ken, most likely because they had figured out that Ken used to be the Kaiser.
“Stop that. Don’t hurt him, he’s kind and nice now.” Wormmon said urgently as a rock hit Ken in the arm and he heard Ken yelp again.
“S-Stop it please. Don’t hurt him-“ Wormmon started but was interrupted by a Gotsumon’s rock which sent him flying into a nearby tree.
“I️ remember you Gotsumon. I️ captured you and forced you to fight in my arena just to watch your agony. Same with you Elecmon. I️, oh god I️ forced you to destroy each other didn’t I️?” Ken said put his hand to his mouth in a gasp.
This was actually news to Wormmon. He wasn’t exactly surprised but it still sucked.
“I️ still haven’t found his their Digieggs in the Primary Village. This is the only way I️ can get justice for what you’ve done to them. By destroying you I can even out what you’ve taken from us.” Said one of the Digimon.
“WORMMON!!! Are you okay? I️ can’t lose you again.” Ken cried out.
Of course the first thing he worried about was Wormmon. The only thing he was worried about was Wormmon. Ken wasn’t even worried about himself, he wasn’t trying to defend himself or even escape.
“I’m fine Ken-Chan. Use the escape plans we practiced.” Wormmon said as he shot his webs at the Digimon attacking Ken.
“You can’t destroy him. He’s a human and so he won’t come back. He’ll be destroyed forever.” Wormmon said to them.
He couldn’t let them take Ken-Chan away from him, not after everything he’d done to get him back.
“Why should we care what happens to him as long as he suffers the way he made us suffer.” Said a new Digimon with scars mostly on its back.
Whip scars like the ones Wormmon had. This was another Digimon that the Kaiser, that Ken, had hurt almost as bad as him. No wonder it wanted revenge. Before Wormmon could say anything he watched in horror as the Digimon punched Ken in the face and caused him to hit a tree behind him. Wormmon heard a concerning crunching sound as Ken hit the tree and slumped to the ground. Wormmon locked eyes with the Digimon with the scars. He saw all the pain and anger in its eyes. The same pain and anger he felt when he was having a particularly bad day. He slowly made his way over to Ken, limping a bit as he went.
“Please stop hurting him. I️ understand that he hurt you and that you’re angry, trust me I️ do.”
He showed the Digimon the scars and bruising on him. On a good day they barely showed but today was a horrible day.
“He hurt you too? You’re the one who was always by his side. And instead of accepting your help in hurting all of us he hurt you. Doesn’t that make you angry?” It said.
Wormmon thought for a moment. Of course he was angry, even vengeful sometimes. But he had never ever wanted to hurt Ken, especially not like this.
“Yes I’m angry with him. He hurt me and I’m tired of denying it. He didn’t care about me or any of you. But look at him now. He’s been destroying Control Spires with his own blood, sweat and tears. He’s not even bothering to defend himself because I️ bet he thinks he deserves this.” Wormmon was saying.
Ken groaned and looked at them.
“I️ do deserve this. If you want to destroy me then do it. Just don’t hurt Wormmon and don’t make him watch, he’s already traumatized enough.” Ken said painstakingly.
“Ken-Chan stop that. You don’t deserve any of this.” Wormmon told him.
Something like a foot hit him in the side and for a moment he thought it was the Kaiser kicking him. Then he remembered there was no Kaiser anymore. He saw that one of the Digimon had kicked him. But at least he was closer to Ken now.
“You’re part of the problem. You helped him and stood by as he tortured and destroyed so many innocent Digimon. Tell me why you don’t deserve the same fate as him.” Spat one of the Digimon.
Wormmon’s entire body hurt but he had to convince these Digimon that Ken was a good kind person now.
“I️ don’t have a reason other than I️ was afraid of his power. And I️ stayed with him because I️ knew that deep down inside there was still goodness in his heart. He was so kind before he was the Kaiser.” Wormmon said desperately.
He didn’t have a reason why he shouldn’t suffer too. He had stood by as the Kaiser hurt so many Digimon.
“Wormmon, please. P-Please run while you still can. Take my dark digivice and tell the DigiDestined what happened then make sure it’s destroyed. I️ want no trace of my darkness to be left behind. Let them destroy me and save yourself.” Ken pleaded as he used what little strength he had left to give Wormmon the digivice.
“K-Ken no. I️ can’t lose you again either. I️ won’t leave you.” Wormmon said. Suddenly he had an idea.
“Maybe I️ can fight them off if I️ Digivolve.” He said. Ken shook his head and coughed.
“No. I️ don’t want anything to happen to you. Something might go wrong again. There should be no bond between us I️ don’t deserve it. You should hate me for what I’ve done to you. You were supposed to be my best friend and I️ treated you like shit, pardon my French.” Ken said weakly.
Before Wormmon had time to process what Ken had just said, a Snimon came up slashed its scythes in their direction. Ken rolled over quickly to wrap his body around Wormmon. Ken cried out in pain as he took the brunt of the scythes.
“KEN NO!” Wormmon cried out.
Ken collapsed near him and Wormmon saw that there were slash marks on Ken’s body, almost like those from a whip ironically. Tears were welling up in Wormmon’s eyes. Both because they were trying to kill his best friend and because he realized that he had to finally admit himself, to Ken, that he had abused him.
“To answer your question Ken, sometimes on a really bad day I️ do hate you. But I️ know that now you’re the real you, the kind, nice you that I️ loved so much and believed in.” He said.
He turned to the other Digimon.
“But he doesn’t in a million years deserve to face this. The same kind of suffering we all went through. But please I️ beg of you, do not hurt him any longer. I️ can’t bare to lose him.” Wormmon said. He was full on crying now, a desperate last ditch effort to get them to stop. His tears dropped on to Ken’s digivice in his front paws, stubby feet, whatever. He was vaguely aware that most electronics probably weren’t supposed to get wet. The digivice began to glow. Wormmon felt himself moving upwards. No, he was getting taller. He felt a pair of large insect wings sprout from his back. His legs felt different. He looked down at the digivice, still glowing in his hands. Wait that wasn’t right, Wormmon didn’t have hands. He was no longer just Wormmon, he was a new Digimon, Stingmon. He could see in many directions, because of the compound eyes he now had. He felt powerful and angry, something he wasn’t quite used to. What should he use his newfound power for, destruction? But towards who? There were these strange Digimon surrounding them. And there was the guy who used to be the Kaiser. A guy who he sometimes hated. That’s who he Digivolved in order to destroy. All the Digimon here had been hurt by the Kaiser, especially him. He realized he had a move called Spiking Finish. The venomous needle came out from above his arm. It felt good. He pointed it at the former-Kaiser. “Do it. After everything I’ve done to hurt you, you deserve the finishing blow.” Ken said. Ken, who was Ken? It didn’t matter he took back his arm jabbed towards the former-Kaiser. Then time seemed to slow down. He remembered who Ken was, his best friend. The one who cared about him the most. And he saw the multitude of wounds on Ken. And so Stingmon instead shoved his spike into the Snimon that very well could be responsible Ken’s potential death. Stingmon had taken it by surprise and so it immediately disintegrated. At first Stingmon wondered if he had done the right thing by destroying this Digimon. But it had hurt Ken and may even cause his doom. So he didn’t have many qualms with destroying the rest.
“Who wants to be next?” He said in a much more gravelly voice than he was used to.
The other Digimon looked at him and considered it for a moment. A few of them tried to attack him, including the one with the scars, but he dispatched them quickly.
“I’m sorry but this is necessary to protect Ken-Chan.” He said.
He gently picked Ken up and wrapped him in the picnic blanket to cushion him. He made sure that Ken had space to breathe but held on tightly to the bundle as he instinctively used his wings to rise into the air. It felt good to have wings. He had a fuzzy memory of having wings before this. Perhaps he had digivolved before while working for the Kaiser. He knew full well that people could force their Digimon to Digivolve and it never ended well. He decided not to think about that right now and instead focus on what was import. Saving Ken. He had to save Ken. He just had to. His compound eyes were blurry from tears. As he was flying another Digimon came up to fly next to him. It looked like him but made of shadows. Despite the scary appearance his antenna could sense that the creature was not unfriendly.
“Sup.” It said.
“Who are you? I️ am on a mission.” Stingmon said, holding on tightly but gently to his precious cargo.
“I am the TechPhantom. Yeah I️ know. I️ saw what happened back there. Some of the best entertainment I’ve had in centuries. But it seems to have really messed you up. Want any help?” It said.
“Usually I️ don’t talk to strangers, Ken taught me about Stranger Danger, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Can you heal Ken?” Stingmon answered.
“Absolutely not. I’m more of the killing type I️ don’t really know how to keep people from dying. But if you want, I️ can rig that digivice of yours to find other people’s digivices.” Said the TechPhantom.
“Why would I️ need that? Oh, are you saying that I️ should go get the DigiDestined to help? But why would they help us?” Stingmon said.
“Well you could always threaten them into doing it. Plus they’re high and mighty heroes so they have to help you.” It said.
“Good idea. Thank you mysterious being. I️ hope to repay you in the future.” Stingmon said.
“I️ hope to get paid in the future too. Peace out bro.” It said and disappeared.
Ken’s digivice was blinking there was a cluster of dots somewhat nearby to a faded dot that Stingmon assumed was Ken. Even the digivice knew that Ken was dying. He moved his wings as fast as he could, using his fear and anger to spur him on. He finally saw the DigiDestined having a picnic in a prairie field by the desert. He landed right next to them and tried to look as non threatening as possible.
“Hello DigiDestined humans I️ am on a mission to heal my friend. I️ was hoping you could help me.” He said as he wiped away the last of his tears.
“Who are you?” Asked a girl with short brown hair. Hikari, he remembered.
“That is not what is important right now. What is important is that you heal my friend. You’re heroes are you not?” Stingmon said.
“We are. Who’s your friend that needs healing.” Asked the one named T.K.
“I️ can’t tell you or else you might not want to heal him. He’s a human like you so he’s very fragile.” Stingmon said.
“Alright. I️ mean how bad can this person be? I️ mean it’s not like it’s Ken or anything haha.” Said Daisuke.
Stingmon knew from talking to Vmon that Daisuke had an awkward habit of being quite tactless. Still, that comment hurt more than he’d like to admit. The others gave him a funny look. Even though Stingmon knew Daisuke was probably joking he unsheathed the spike in his arm and pointed at all of them.
“Swear to me that you’ll heal him. Swear it on your lives, swear it on the lives of your Digimon.” He said.
“Ok ok. Jeez. We swear we’ll help whoever it is you need us to. We are heroes after all.” Said Myako.
Once Stingmon was done being angry and upset he put the bundle gently on the ground and carefully started to unroll it. He noticed that while he was flying blood had seeped through the picnic blanket. When he had finished unrolling it the kids gasped and Daisuke let out a noise almost like a sob.
“Oh my god. What happened to him? Did you do this to him?” Daisuke asked.
“No. I️ was angry with him, yes. I almost thought about it at one point. But I️ would never hurt him. Not like they hurt him. Please save Ken-Chan.” Stingmon said.
Vmon, bless his two brain cells, put the pieces together first.
“Ken-Chan? Wormmon is that you? You digivolved, that’s so cool!” Vmon said.
“It would be a lot cooler if it were under different circumstances. And yes it’s me but it’s Stingmon now.” Said Stingmon.
“I️ don’t get it. Who would do such a thing? Not even karma is this much of a bitch. Just because we don’t necessarily trust him, doesn’t mean we won’t help him.” T.K. said as he took off his bucket had and used it to stop Ken’s bleeding.
“E-Elecmon, Gotsumon, some horribly mean but traumatized Digimon I️ don’t remember the name of, and a Snimon gave him those cuts.” Stingmon said shakily.
Hikari did something that Stingmon assumed was checking Ken’s pulse and breathing. She sat up as her face paled.
“He’s not breathing we need to start CPR. Iori bring the first aid kit.” Stingmon couldn’t take it.
He didn’t know what CPR was and he didn’t care. Not if it meant Ken wasn’t breathing.
“Can you help him?” Stingmon said.
He could feel himself breaking down literally as the day’s past events finally hit him. The so called adrenaline rush was starting to wear off as Stingmon felt himself get lower to the ground. He was his regular old self again. And his regular old self hurt like hell. He fell near Ken’s chest where Myako was now pushing down on Ken’s chest every few seconds.
“Stop you’ll make it worse. I️ heard an unfamiliar crunch when he hit a tree. Actually the crunch was familiar but we’re not getting into that right now.” Wormmon said, straining with pain.
Vmon came to help him.
“No we’re doing CPR, it’s for his own good. Trust us, please.” Daisuke said.
“Maybe he needs mouth to mouth.” He added, a little too eagerly.
He moved Myako aside and started doing something that looked like kissing. Then Wormmon realized Daisuke was actually blowing air into Ken’s mouth. Wormmon lay against Vmon, trying to stay out of the other’s way. He was now sure that they were really trying to help Ken. Wormmon was so tired he wished could just curl up right in Vmon’s arms. He found it ironic that he had once died in this desert to save Ken from himself and now Ken was probably going to die in this desert to save him.
“He doesn’t have a pulse. Someone think of something. QUICK!!” Daisuke said, more distressed that Wormmon would’ve expected.
Wormmon broke down, he couldn’t deal with it anymore. He still had Ken’s digivice in his paw hand. He painstakingly wobbled his way over to Ken.
“He CAN’T be gone, I️ only just got him back after he was corrupted by darkness. I’ve failed him again, haven’t I️?” Wormmon said.
He was crying again, if only to try and convince Ken to wake up.
“Please Ken-Chan wake up. I️ need you to be ok. Do it for me.” He started thinking about that desert again and what he’d done to get Ken to finally snap out of it. Suddenly he had an idea. It wasn’t really a good idea but it was an idea and even tho it would mess up Ken emotionally at least he’d be alive. He focused on gathering all of his energy and putting it into Ken to get him to wake up.
“Wormmon what are you doing? This seems kinda familiar.” Vmon asked.
“Saving Ken-Chan myself.” Wormmon answered.
When he was about halfway through transferring his energy Ken’s digivice started to glow. Ken shook a little bit.
“WORMMON DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!” Ken yelled suddenly.
Wormmon instinctively jumped out of the way of, well he wasn’t quite sure what he was scared of. Probably some kind of instinct from back in the Kaiser days.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry for yelling at you. I️ know I️ promised I️ wouldn’t do it unless it was an emergency. But I️ wasn’t about to let you sacrifice yourself for me again. Also Daisuke why are you kissing me?” Ken said.
“KEN-CHAN!!!!” Wormmon yelled back excitedly.
Daisuke turned red.
“I️ wasn’t kissing you. I️ was giving you mouth to mouth resuscitation. You know like what the do in the movies.” Daisuke said quickly.
“Oh god. Why does literally everything hurt? And who’s Stingmon?” Ken asked.
“I’m Stingmon!! I️ digivolved!!” Wormmon answered finally excited about Digivolving now that he knew Ken was OK for the moment.
“Nani? I️ thought I️ asked you not to Digivolve for your own good. And don’t you need a bond for that?” Ken said.
Before Wormmon could even answer, Daisuke cut in.
“Ken you idiot. You nearly died, no you basically did die, to keep Wormmon safe from the other Digimon. That’s more bond than James Bond from the James Bond movies!” He said.
Ken laughed which turned into a cough that involved a little more blood than it was supposed to.
“Yeah I️ guess you’re right.” Ken said.
Wormmon hugged him as best he could with his stubby little legs.
“So you guys saved me despite everything I’ve done to you guys and everyone else.” Ken said.
“Well of course we did silly. We’re not monsters ya know. And Wormmon did most of the work getting you here and trying to sacrifice himself like an idiot ahem.” Daisuke said.
“Why not just let me die? I’ve done nothing but abuse you and for most of our lives. And you Digivolve to save me? You should’ve just escaped instead of getting even more hurt than you already are. Or just do it yourself like I deserved.” Ken said.
Wormmon hoped he was just saying all these silly things because he was still recovering.
“Because you’re my friend Ken-Chan and I️ love and care about you. I️ couldn’t let them hurt you. Even if I was angry about what you did to me while you were the Kaiser, you’re my partner and that means I’ll help you no matter what. That’s why I stayed with you through all the abuse.” Wormmon said.
He was finally able to admit to Ken that it was in fact abuse that he had faced under the Kaiser.
“I️ hate to ruin the moment but we’ve got company. I️ think those Digimon that were attacking you have followed you here.” Vmon said.
“Aw shit. It wasn’t enough that they had to almost kill Ken but they also had to follow him too. Jeez these guys are stubborn.” Daisuke said.
“Watch your language around Wormmon he isn’t allowed to hear those kinds of words.” Ken said.
“Actually I️ already know most of the curse words. But that’s not important. Ken quick, Digivolve me.” Wormmon said.
“Right. Now that I️ know it’ll be safe. Wormmon Digivolve to…” Ken started.
“STINGMON!” Stingmon finished.
“There’s so many powerful Digimon coming for Ken. We have to stay and help.” Daisuke said.
“No. You have to save yourselves. You’ve already done enough for us as it is. This is how we make it up to you.” Ken said.
Leave it to Ken to be the self sacrificing type. Some of the others looked a little indecisive.
“Come on guys we have to help him. Sure he used to be an asshole but now he’s a nice guy. He practically got himself killed to save his best friend. I️ don’t care if you guys want to go but I’m staying.” Daisuke said with determination in his voice.
“That’s very courageous of you Daisuke.” Stingmon said.
“Courage, that’s it. I’ve got and idea. Daisuke Digivolve me now.” Vmon said.
“Alright. You thinking Flamedramon or Raydramon?” Daisuke asked.
“I’ve got a better idea. Just trust me on this.” Vmon said.
“Ok. Vmon Digivolve to…” Daisuke started.
“XVMON” XVmon finished.
“Woah you digivolved into your new form. That’s so cool! Now let’s help Ken and Stingmon.” Daisuke said excitedly.
As it turned out, everyone else was also willing to help Ken, even Iori who didn’t quite trust him yet (which was understandable). Somehow, the Digimon with the whip scars was there even tho Stingmon was sure he had destroyed it.
“Who are you and why are you still so intent on killing Ken?” Stingmon asked.
“I️ am TechPhantomon.” Said the Digimon.
“TechPhantom? Like the Digimon who helped find the DigiDestined?” Stingmon asked with confusion.
“Yeah kinda. This is my fault. Sometimes my Inner Demons escape so to speak.” Said a new but familiar voice.
“Well I️ guess me and Ken aren’t the only ones with Inner Demons, huh.” Stingmon said.
“You’ve got Inner Demons too? I’m so sorry you have to deal with that.” Ken said to Stingmon.
“Hold on that isn’t just my Inner Demons, it’s yours too. That’s why there’s all those scars on it.” The newcomer said.
“Sorry about this whole thing, skill issues on my part. But the way to stop it is for you guys to face your Inner Demons.” It added.
Stingmon somehow instinctively knew what to do and what to say.
“I️ have my Inner Demons. I️ couldn’t admit to myself or Ken that what he did to my when he was the Kaiser was abuse. I️ wouldn’t let myself be angry at him because he was my friend and I️ didn’t want to upset him. But now I️ know I️ can talk to him about these sorts of things. That I️ should talk to him about them instead of keeping all of my emotions bottled up inside.” Stingmon said.
The mysterious TechPhantomon seemed to weaken with this new confession. Now it was Ken’s turn. He took a deep breath before saying “I have my Inner Demons. I️ know I️ hurt people and Digimon when I️ was the Kaiser. I️ won’t make excuses for my actions. But I️ know that in reality it wasn’t all my fault, I️ was not Right in the head. And even though I️ abused Wormmon, I️ recognize that I️ shouldn’t wish for him to hate me, he should do it on his own. And I️ shouldn’t let my fear and anger and especially my guilt rule me. Even though it will all still be there to haunt me.” Ken said.
With Ken’s heartfelt confession, the mysterious creature exploded in a bright flash of light. The dark shadows that remained were vast and whispered about pain and violence and abuse. The shadows were then absorbed into the newcomer who was still shaped like a shadowy mass that looked like Stingmon. As soon as the last of the shadows was absorbed, the other Digimon that we’re attacking seemed to shake themselves out of a trance.
“Sorry about all that. We were really angry and riled up and that mystery Digimon was helping to egg us on.” Said one of the Elecmon.
“If there’s anything we can do to help, just let us know.” One of the Gatsumon added.
“Maybe come join our picnic. I️ think that despite whatever the hell just happened, we could all do for a nice picnic together.” Hikari said.
Everyone agreed that this was a good idea and they all sat down for a picnic.
Ken was exhausted. Everything still hurt like hell and he was sure it did for Wormmon too. He sat with Wormmon in his lap and shared a sandwich with him. Digivolving had made Wormmon tired and hungry. He saw Iori looking his direction and contemplating something. He knew Iori didn’t trust him or like him very much.
“What’s wrong?” Ken asked him cautiously.
“Nothing. Here try some of my Grandpa’s prune juice pouches. He says they’re a cure all for physical, mental, and emotional pain.” Iori answered as he handed Ken a packet.
“Thanks.” He said. “No problem. It’s the least I️ can do after you offered to save us. And you put yourself in danger for Wormmon. That shows that you’re trying your best to be a good person.” Iori said.
Suddenly Ken remembered a very important thing from when he was passed out.
“Hey Daisuke. I️ don’t think you were just giving me mouth to mouth like in the movies. I️ think you were trying to kiss me like they do in the movies.” Ken said.
There was something he liked about Daisuke. Not just because he was the first one to trust Ken and had saved Wormmon’s life that one time. Something about Daisuke made him feel fuzzy inside. He realized he’s was blushing a little bit. However, Daisuke was blushing much harder.
“Aw come on you don’t actually believe him? He was probably just imagining it.” Daisuke said.
The others looked at him. They all agreed that Daisuke was in fact trying to kiss him.
Daisuke could only think of one thing to say. “Oh fuck.”
And that’s the end of my first completed fanfic
