Fuck Around and Find Out

Summary:

It wasn't like Ten could have seen this side of you at the coffee shop, outside the club is a much better place.

Work Text:

“Hey, gorgeous.” The man’s nasally voice makes you want to throw up the moment he starts talking. Of course, you couldn’t just walk home without someone bothering you. “Why don’t you come home with me?”

“No thanks,” You sigh, keeping your gaze firmly on your phone, “Not interested.”

“Oh come on, baby,” He tries again, trailing his fingers down your bare arm, not even stopping when you shake his hand away, “Don’t be like that.”

     “Seriously, dude, leave me alone.”

“Let me show you a good time.”

“My definition of a good time is you leaving me the fuck alone,” You snap, smacking his hand away again, “Don’t touch me.”

“You think you’re tough shit, don’t you?” He growls, grabbing your chin.

“I said, don’t fucking touch me.” You hiss, the click of your pocketknife echoing as you level it under his chin.

     “You wouldn’t,” He scoffs.

“Fuck around and find out, dick head.”

“I would walk away, dude, I don’t think they’re playing.” The voice beside you is familiar, and you have to bite your cheek to keep yourself from smiling.

“I’m not.” You growl, “Now piss off.”

“I’m gone. I’m gone.” He panics, tripping over himself as he runs off down the street.

“Well damn,” The new person chuckles, “I definitely would have asked for a second date if I’d seen this side of you.” You can’t help but chuckle as you fold your knife away, tucking it back into the pocket of your pants. “That was hot.”

Ten is standing just a few paces away, leaning on the same wall you had been leaning on.

You had only met him that morning, having been set up on a blind date by your mutual friend Johnny. It had been one of the most boring dates of your life, the conversation being lackluster and the coffee disgusting. Now here he was, illuminated by the neon lights from the club you’d apparently both been at. His leather pants and cheetah print crop were a far cry from the sweater and slacks he’d been in a few hours prior. To be fair, he was probably just as shocked as you, since you’d traded your jumper and jeans for a mesh hoodie and matching cargo pants.

Neither of you pretended not to check the other out.

“Something tells me you were not the one who recommended coffee this morning.”

“If I remember correctly, it was Johnny who tried to pass it off as your idea.” He explains, as you mirror his position.

“What would you have done then?”

“Ever been ax-throwing?” You both crack up at his offer, the first proper laugh you’d shared in the 9 hours you’d known one another. “I’m not kidding,” He continues, “You free this Friday, we could grab a beer and throw some axes.”

“Alright, how about I do you one better?” You start, “I have two tickets to a Sleep Token show tomorrow night, and my friend just canceled on me.”

“You asking me out?” He grins.

“Only if you’re interested. We could call it our first date.”

“Second.” He decides, pushing himself off the wall and extending his hand, “Let me buy you a drink?”

“Deal.” You agree, accepting his hand and letting him lead you back towards the club, “You know this means we actually have to thank Johnny, right?”

     “No, let's not.”

     “Fair.”
