“What about the others?”
“They’re asleep, don’t worry.”
Minjeong breathed in the flavored chapstick on Jimin’s lips, sighing into the kiss she waited all day for. Her hands roam down the older girl’s back, tucking them under the sweater Jimin loved to wear to bed.
She can feel Jimin shiver under her touch.
“Do you know how hard it is to stay away from you?” Jimin whispers. “How hard it is not to just kiss you in front of everyone?”
Minjeong smirks. “I dare you to.” A surprised yelp escapes her when Jimin pins her hands down by her head. She could feel her cheeks flush, her entire body feeling very warm all of a sudden.
“Oh yeah?” Jimin dangerously inches forward, trailing kisses down Minjeong’s neck. “Like this?”
She bites her lip, resisting the urge to make a noise, not wanting to give Jimin the satisfaction. Minjeong clumsily flips them over. “No. Like this.”
Kissing Yu Jimin felt unequivocally euphoric. Otherworldly. Magical. Minjeong could lose herself for hours in the arms of the older girl.
~
Minjeong and Jimin had been playing this game for years, a game of blurry lines.
Were they just friends? Were they meant to be more?
Would someone figure them out?
How long could they keep up this charade of not being utterly and sickeningly in love with each other?
But no amount of late night confessions and i love you’s could change their circumstance.
~
“What’s gotten into you?”
“Nothing.”
The second Jimin sneaks into Minjeong’s room, she feels herself being pinned against the door, the younger girl’s desperate lips on hers.
It had been a long day at a year end show, performing special stages and accepting awards and making speeches. Minjeong was still in her dress.
Jimin breaks away from the kiss, slight concern etched into her eyebrows. “Are you sure?”
“I don’t want to talk.” Minjeong takes the older girl’s hands and purposefully places them behind her. “I just want you to take my dress off.”
Jimin audibly gulps. “T-Take it off?”
Minjeong can’t help but chuckle at the older girl’s sudden nerves. “Yes. So I can change into my pajamas.” Jimin smacks her arm, clearly not pleased with her joke. “Seriously, though, I do need help with the zipper.”
She turns Minjeong around, placing a soft kiss on her right shoulder. Jimin unzips her dress slowly, watching their shared reaction in the vanity mirror across the room.
Breaths heavy, eyes half lidded.
“Minjeong? Are you awake?”
Breaths even heavier, eyes wide open in panic, they break apart at the sound of Aeri’s voice through the door. Thankfully they were the type of group who knocked before entering a room, given that they had forgotten to lock the door.
“Y-Yeah?” Minjeong cursed her shaky voice. She glared at Jimin who hid a silent laugh behind her hand. Heat rushed to her face and her heartbeat was uncontrollable, like it always was around the older girl.
“I just need to borrow some make up wipes if you have any?”
Minjeong sticks her hand out the door, which Jimin was hiding behind, with the requested item. “Just take it all.”
“Thanks doll!” And just when Minjeong thought she was in the clear— “why are you still in your dress?”
At least the lights weren’t on. Otherwise, it would have revealed the deep shade of red all over Minjeong’s face and neck. “Goodnight!” She all but slams the door in an effort to shut down further questions.
They wait for Aeri’s footsteps to disappear. Jimin opens her mouth to speak, but Minjeong beats her to it. “Don’t.”
“What?! I wasn’t going to say anything.”
“Yes, you were.” Minjeong pouts, moving away from Jimin and towards her bed. “You probably have a million jokes running through your head right now.”
Jimin slides her arms around her waist. “Forget about that.” She nuzzles into Minjeong’s neck. “Now, where were we?” The zipper only made it halfway down her back before the interruption.
Minjeong wiggles out of the taller girl’s grasp. “I was going to go to bed, actually.” She wasn’t, but she wanted to tease Jimin.
She had her back to the other girl, not seeing the shift in Jimin’s eyes. “Minjeong.” Her serious tone made her freeze in place. “What are we doing?”
Was this a trick question?
“Playing around?”
Jimin’s hand wraps around her wrist, spinning her around before the back of her legs hit the edge of the bed. The older girl hovers over her. “Playing around? I don’t think so.”
Minjeong’s mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water. Jimin’s dark eyes rendered her speechless. It was exhilarating.
She leans forward, kissing Minjeong so deeply that it makes her forget about everything that had just transpired.

The worst part of promotions was having to shoot dance challenges with irrelevant men from the industry. Minjeong enjoyed learning new moves, sure, but it wasn’t worth her time.
Jimin’s arm instinctively wrapped around Minjeong’s waist when two guys approached them asking if they could make some TikToks.
They were able to do that much without seeming suspicious. It was normal for friends to be protective of each other like this, right?
After exchanging polite greetings and quick tutorials of each other’s choreography, they shot the videos with quick and relative ease.
But it wasn’t over yet.
Minjeong could sense it, the way one of the guys eyed her nervously, as if he wanted to say something more to her before they parted ways.
And of course, Jimin sensed it too.
“My buddy here was wondering if he could have your number?” His group mate speaks for him instead, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Minjeong tries to hold back her face from reacting first. She begins to answer with a perfectly crafted excuse, but Jimin cuts her off.
“He can’t have her number.”
“Oh, why not?” He puts his hands on his hips, a defiant tone to his voice. His group mate has the decency to look embarrassed at this exchange, urging him to just forget about it.
Jimin’s expression is unreadable, almost unnerving. Minjeong has never seen her like this before.
She doesn’t know what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t what Jimin says next.
“Because she’s mine.”
Minjeong doesn’t even get the chance to see the gears shifting in his head before she’s swept down the hallway in a hurry.
But she does hear the “see? i told you they had something going on!” coming from the shy member.
“What was that?” Minjeong whispers in awe once they reach their waiting room.
Jimin buries her head in her hands, flopping onto one of the chairs. “I don’t know. I messed up. Why did I tell them that?!”
Minjeong giggles despite the situation. “Honestly, it was kind of hot seeing you all jealous.”
Jimin scowls. “I was hardly jealous. There is no good reason for him to have your number.”
“I wasn’t going to give him my number regardless.” Seeing as they were alone in the waiting room, Minjeong pulls up a chair and leans her head on Jimin’s shoulder. “I was about to tell him no before you so boldly professed that I was yours.”
The older girl whines, stomping her feet cutely. Minjeong smiles, feeling butterflies bloom all throughout her body.
She was Jimin’s.
