Work Text:
And words are spilling out of her lips
in a comforting cadence,
The vowels a familiar shape
Like the sound of his mother’s voice
Singing him a childhood lullaby.
Wednesday reading French poetry to Tyler as he falls asleep
Happy birthday to you beloved 🫶 I hope you like this gift 😘
(See the end of the work for more notes.)
And words are spilling out of her lips
in a comforting cadence,
The vowels a familiar shape
Like the sound of his mother’s voice
Singing him a childhood lullaby.
I made this with the Francophone!Francoise headcanon in mind, the idea had been rattling around my head for ages but I could never quite figure out how to write it…. And then I remembered that I’m ✨an artist✨ and I can just draw it out LOL
The poem wednesday is reading is Le mort joyeux by Beaudelaire (aka the Joyful corpse in English) translation of this passage is:
"In a rich, heavy soil, infested with snails,
I wish to dig my own grave, wide and deep,
Where I can at leisure stretch out my old bones
And sleep in oblivion like a shark in the wave."
