Chapter Text

Shinya enjoyed looking at Guren. There was no doubt that he could spend hours contemplating his beloved, his alpha, especially in those moments when he had a ton of papers in front of him. Documents he needed to read and approve in a matter of hours.

A small smile was drawn on his lips; his corners had frozen in that position, and his eyes sparkled like little stars. Oh, Shinya was so in love with his boss.

"If you keep looking at me like that, you're going to drill my face," he complained, reaching up to him to push his face away.

The white-haired man let out a small laugh as he rose from the chair next to his desk and took a seat at the table, "what's wrong with looking at my dear husband? You should be flattered that I'm wasting my precious time looking at you," he let out a dramatic sigh, completely fake.

His fancy acting skills didn't work with Guren, and it wasn't as if Shinya put much effort into lying to him either.

Tired, Guren decided to lean back in the chair, crossing his arms as he connected his eyes with those of the pretty boy in front of him, "what do you want, Shin? I don't know if you've noticed, but I have some things to do..." blue orbs swept across the table until they came to the papers that Guren had to check.

A second was enough for Guren to sit up quickly, rushing to immobilize his hands. Shinya grumbled before he let out a soft laugh. One look was enough for Guren to know his intentions. While the first few times Shinya dropped the papers on the floor had surprised him, he was more than used to it by now.

The omega stirred on the table, trying to loosen the grip that had stopped him, but even though he excelled at other things Guren wasn't so good at, when it came to physical strength his abilities were far beyond his own. Therefore, all he could resort to was an annoyed pout, and that pitiful look that managed to stir something in the heart of his beloved.

Guren inhaled, filling his lungs with air and taking the opportunity to get intoxicated by the pheromones Shinya gleefully released around his office, marking every spot in the room every time he entered. He liked to make it clear that he had his more than obvious role in this place, and that his importance was even greater when it came to emphasizing Guren's priorities; first was Shinya, the rest meant nothing to him.

"This time I really need to get this done on time, so why don't you wait a while and then we'll have dinner somewhere of your choice?" He suggested, letting go of him carefully and with some trepidation.

His fingers brushed over his skin for the last time. He remained between his legs, giving him the attention he had been demanding for the last half hour.

The idea sounded tempting. The young couple understood each other, but when it came to tastes, they often couldn't agree, so Shinya thanked the heavens every time it was his turn to choose something. He finally nodded his head, giving him a broad smile, but did not get up from the table.

"Is something wrong? Shall I offer you something else?" He asked, tilting his head to one side in curiosity.

It felt strange when Shinya was silent, it was a false peace that Guren didn't enjoy. Shinya decided to answer him with actions, sliding his hands down his torso, taking advantage of the short distance they were at. His fingertips traced every inch within his reach with a smile.

Not only was he delighted to look at him, but he was also happy to be able to touch him at his whim, reveling in his pleased expression and the pleasurable sounds he allowed to come from his throat. Although he was quiet this time, there was no sound in the room except for their barely audible breathing.

Shinya placed his hands on his shoulders, leaning down to bring their lips together in a kiss. Guren put his hands on his hips, touching him with small caresses over the shirt he was wearing. The omega encircled his neck completely, deepening the kiss as his fingers tangled in his hair. The touch of his lips, soft, slightly moist and warm, was always something that managed to make his heart flutter.

Guren left a small bite on his lower lip before marking the distance, even though Shinya didn't let him go as much as he would have liked to continue with his duties. The omega stood and embraced him, pressing him against his body to feel the warmth he radiated. Guren returned the hug, resting his jaw gently on his shoulder, a rather strategic position in his opinion, and he was able to place a kiss on his gland, appreciating the mark that had united them for quite some time.

Shinya squirmed in his arms, gasping so close to his ear that Guren couldn't help the shiver that ran down his spine.

"Or... I can postpone the work I have. Anyway, I'm the boss, who's going to dare say anything to me?" The tone he used was to indicate that this was a joke, although if Shinya responded positively, he was capable of fulfilling it.

The omega pulled away from him with a mischievous smile and a captivating look, "although I'm quite tempted to accept that... for the first time ever, I'm going to let you do your job," he laughed and planted a quick kiss on his lips.

Guren laughed as he felt his hands pushing him to get off the table, "what are you going to do then?" he asked, taking his hand for a moment to gently caress his fingers.

Guren was fond of touch. He could easily get grumpy when Shinya was not by his side and he could not feel the contact of his skin with his own.

"I was thinking about going shopping. There's a new store nearby with some nice stuff," he replied, interlacing his fingers.

Guren nodded after hearing him, ready to take the phone lying on the table, but Shinya was faster and stepped in his way to prevent him from doing so.

"What's wrong?"

"I can go alone, no need for Goshi to come," he sounded so confident that Guren couldn't help but frown.

It was evident that with the passage of time and the rise of Guren in the underworld business, conflicts would arise. Guren was too young for the old men who ran the other families. They couldn't be overshadowed by someone with as little experience as he had.

Guren was the center of attention, and so were those closest to him. He liked to instill fear in his rivals, to let the other families know who was king now, him. As much as he liked that feeling, he needed to increase the security of his surroundings. Shinya understood the situation, and even though he and his husband were aware of the omega's strength, Guren still didn't feel comfortable going to certain places alone.

"Come on Guren, this is our territory, nothing will happen."

"Is there a special reason why you want to go alone?"

That was the question he had been waiting for. A smile tugged at the omega's lips and he leaned close to his ear.

His hands rested on the armrests, applying light pressure as he lay between his legs. For a moment, his skin tingled, as if waiting for him to touch it.

"I want to buy something for us, if you understand where I'm going," may not have been his main idea, but Shinya didn't rule out the possibility.

His smile remained intact, and as soon as he felt the red-haired man begin to move, his heart skipped a beat. Guren clenched his jaw with two fingers and stared intently into his eyes, surely studying his intentions behind that response. They stayed like that for a couple of seconds until the alpha sighed, releasing him, as he leaned back against the backrest.

"All right, but be careful, okay? Remember, we're in negotiations, and people are willing to slap me on the back. Call me if you need to."

"Yes, husband, I'll hit them and then call you to tell you and make you proud of me," he strutted around the room, looking at the decorations on the walls as he approached the door, "it would be a great pity and loss to them if they tried to mess with our family." He let out a low chuckle, and before he had time to react, he was out of sight."

Guren shook his head, closing his eyes for a moment as his lungs filled with the remaining pheromones in the air.

With the sun beating down on the back of his neck, Shinya couldn't help but lean against the nearest wall. His whole body burned as if he was being embraced by the flames of hell, and so many past experiences served to identify this situation as an indication that he was coming into heat.

However, the difference is that before he was able to spend these moments with his alpha, his Guren. Even in the days before, Guren would take a vacation to spend the whole week at his side, at his suburban residence. Everything was perfectly controlled so that Shinya would not feel uncomfortable and he loved being pampered like that, he loved the attention Guren gave him. And right now he was starting to miss him; he didn't feel his arm around his waist to keep the trembling of his legs from sending him crashing to the ground.

With some difficulty, he took his cell phone out of his pocket to look at today's date; he still had two weeks to go, why now?

He swallowed saliva to try to relieve the dryness in his throat, but it didn't work. With each passing minute, his body temperature increased. His mind wasn't cooperating with him in the slightest either, every time he closed his eyes, even for a millisecond, he could see his alpha at his side, where he should be now if his heat hadn't gotten ahead of him.

He cursed under his breath, trying to regain his composure, at least he wanted to be able to go back to the offices and ask the receptionist  to call the boss. However, it was enough for him to take a step forward to feel someone wrap around his neck, exerting enough pressure to prevent him from moving freely.

Shinya was good at fighting, damn good, he had been trained by Guren himself as often as they had shared kisses, but his body felt so weak that he was unable to react with the same aggressiveness with which they seemed to attack him. Still, he managed to fight back, someone had entered his territory, he wasn't going to let him leave with a smile on his face.

"The next time Guren Ichinose wants to protect someone, he should look at his husband first." Those words, which sounded more like a threat, were the last Shinya heard before he inevitably passed out because a handkerchief covered his nose.

Guren felt uneasy. The sides of his head throbbed as if they were being squeezed in a torture machine. His breath caught in his chest, pressing down on him so hard that he found it impossible to concentrate on the papers in his lap.

He put down the pen and threw it aside, not caring if it rolled to the ground. He rubbed his face and sighed. He had experienced this feeling once before, when Shinya had to go on a business trip as a family representative. From his point of view, this was normal; he was the one who had the hardest time with the separation. However, something in his heart made him feel that he was ignoring an important detail.

"Where are you, Shinya?" He muttered as he picked up his cell phone once again, calling him for the umpteenth time in the last hour.

The place wasn't far away, Shinya always answered him promptly, and the times he was late, he was the one who called him back to tell him what he was doing, just for the fun of it, because they liked to share their anecdotes with each other. Guren didn't want to seem controlling, especially when it came to his partner, but he was genuinely concerned.

He thought about what it would be like if it were Shinya who was in this situation, if it were him who showed no signs of life. That was enough to make him sit up, pressing the button on the landline phone that called Goshi directly.

"Deploy all vehicles, I want your best subordinates with me. I can't find Shinya and something tells me we've walked into a trap." His message was enough for his friend, and most loyal companion, to follow orders immediately.

As he approached the door, a stab to the center of his heart weakened him completely. If not for one of his hands clinging to the door frame, he probably would have fallen to the floor. It was the sign he needed, the one he had been waiting for, to confirm that his husband was indeed in danger, that it was not a figment of his imagination, that his mind was not playing tricks on him for missing his omega.

Guren had always admired Shinya for the strength he possessed, both mentally and physically. He didn't praise his training sessions in vain, he really was a man capable of tackling anything that came his way. If they had managed to catch him off guard, it was because it was something very well planned, and he was probably not in his best shape.

When Guren left his office, the scratch marks on the wood were an obvious sign that he wouldn't leave those people alive. He could forgive them for playing dirty against him, for trying to knock him off the pedestal he was on, but he wouldn't let go of the fact that they hurt his person.

When Shinya opened his eyes, the dim light in the room he was in told him that he needed to alert his partner.

He usually preferred to do things on his own, he wasn't against getting help, but he liked to prove that his second gender wasn't an obstacle to success. That didn't mean he wasn't capable of recognizing when he needed others, and today was one of those times.

There was no one around him. All he could make out was a damp smell and a few drops falling in the distance, probably from some rickety pipe. He was in a basement, and the sound at a distance of one meter was enough for him to deduce that they must be near a railway, or main city station.

Although his hands and feet were bound, his clothes were untouched. He breathed a sigh of relief, he probably would have vomited if he had found out that they had laid a finger on his body. He hit the back of his neck against the metal chair he was sitting in, trying in vain to regulate his breathing.

He took suppressants every few months, not wanting the side effects to ruin his body, although right now he mentally insulted himself for not taking them more often, if he had he would at least have the strength to remove the ropes.

He clicked his tongue in annoyance and cursed again, because every move he made made his skin burn like he was in the middle of lava.

As his pitiful attempts to escape went nowhere, a door that seemed heavy opened. The voices of about three people and footsteps approached him until they were only a few feet from where he was sitting.

"I see you've woken up," the voice of one of them boomed in his brain, as if he was listening to a song that irritated him.

The new scents that were incorporated in the room let Shinya know that he was facing three alphas. Nausea gripped the back of his throat. On a day-to-day basis, he wasn't sensitive to other people's pheromones, but during his heat it was heightened; he couldn't be around anyone but his husband.

"Are you going to tell me what you want? Or are you going to make me wait? Come on, I don't have all day!"

His anger-injected eyes and disgusted expression stood out more than his flushed cheeks. Another of the men laughed, at his own expense, taking a couple of steps to close the distance. This time it was impossible for Shinya to conceal how badly he wanted to throw up. The man rested his hands on the armrests, leaning so close to his face that the omega had to work hard to remain as impassive as he had been taught to be should this ever happen to him.

"Do you think you're in a position to ask for anything, especially when you're in a rut?" The laughing tone he used while looking down at his body was enough to make Shinya let out an ironic laugh, he wouldn't let himself be humiliated like that.

"Do you think you have the right to talk to me like that? You know who I'm, otherwise you wouldn't have kidnapped me. You know where you did it, our territory. Oh, I really don't want to be you, because he will find you. No matter how long it takes, he's going to do it in the end, and believe me... he's a fast man. Do you think he's going to let you get away with it?"

He laughed again, tilting his head to the side to get a better angle on the three of them, "he'd point a gun at you just to look at me, what do you think he'll do when he finds out you've kidnapped me?" He moistened his lips, trying to get some fresh air, even if it wasn't possible, "do you have family? Friends? Subordinates, boss? He'll find them, he's very good at the 'tit for tat' method."

He paused as the man who hadn't yet spoken approached. He forcefully unbuttoned some of the buttons on his shirt, revealing the mark that connected him to his husband.

"What? We've been together for eight years. Did you really think he wouldn't mark me? That I wouldn't warn him? You're less intelligent than I thought," another chuckle came from deep in his throat, "if I were you, I'd start counting the seconds until he arriv-..." was interrupted when the palm of one of his hands slammed into his cheeks and moved quickly to his neck, probably waiting for him to fall silent, "now you're dead."

It was unusual to see so many black cars driving in tactical position along the main avenue of the city. Nor was it customary for the head of the family to drive the first car and lead his people. But none of that mattered when it came to Shinya. The mere thought of his name, and not knowing what was going on, made him step on the gas, overtaking civilians as if they were in an illegal race.

He was not a conspicuous person, his operations were known to be subtle and quiet, but when he stepped out of the vehicle, the people under his command were surprised to see the boss's two legendary katanas on either side of his waist. They used to be just another decoration in his office, used only when absolutely necessary.

"My wish is for the death of every human being you come in contact with. I don't want to see anyone alive, even in their last minutes. Everywhere I look, I want to find dead bodies. Shinya is my husband, but he is also the second-in-command of this organization, the mastermind behind our plans and an excellent sniper. Let's show them who the Mikado no Tsuki are."
