Chapter Text
Crowley sat there on the couch where he used to laugh with Aziraphale. Hot tears streamed down and past his sunglasses. I gripped tight onto a wine bottle as many more rolled next to his feet.
“Crowley?” asked Muriel softly.
Crowley snapped “GO AWAY!” and Muriel backed off. Crowley gazed at Muriel as they began to tear slightly, he shivered not meaning to be that harsh.
Before Crowley could apologize, Muriel hurried off to organize more books to keep her mind off the demon Crowley slowly drifting off from reality after Aziraphale left. Muriel wanted nothing more than Aziraphale to come back and have them back together…to have everything back the way they were.
As the night went on Crowley continued to drink himself to the point he was no longer able to bring the lip of the wine bottle to his lips. He cursed as some wine spilled on his clothes. He stood up as his legs shook. He stumbled his way past the bookshelf's, past Muriel who just watched drunk Crowley in tears.
As his blurry vision caught the sight of Aziraphale’s bed they once shared, it was like the last straw. His knees buckled from the alcohol and emotions. As he fell, the wine bottle he still had in his hand shattered to the floor, and he soon followed.
He hissed in pain as his hand dug into the broken glass, his head hit the ground with a *thud* which broke his glass, and some of the broken glass cut the side of his face. He decided to just lay there, feel the pain, feel the blood pool around his hands.
That is when in the distance he heard the familiar sound of the bookshop door jingle. “Those footsteps…so familiar." he thought in his foggy mind. His vision was blurry from the alcohol, tears, and head injury. But the shoes that he managed to see-
He felt his heart shatter more. He couldn’t tell if it was pain, anger, joy…it was all too much.
"Oh, Crowley, my dear" Aziraphale spoke softly as he kneeled. Aziraphale carefully creased Crowley’s limp body in his arms. “Shh, it’s ok. I’m here now. I’m sorry I left you…I wasn’t thinking properly. Once I realized that the next coming would destroy the humanity I love so dearly, I left. This world, these books…you are more dear to me than heaven. If I am banished from heaven, so be it. If it means I will be with you, I will do it."
Crowley felt tears fall onto his cheek, ones of gold, tears on an angel. "Here, let me help you dear" With a snap of a finger, all the glass was gone. Aziraphale carefully wiped his tartan handkerchief on Crowley’s wounds.
As Crowley began to slowly sob, there was a different set of footsteps in the background. Muriel just stood there, watching the reunion of the angel and demon that brought laughter and light to her heart. They wanted more than anything to hug them both, but they knew deep down Aziraphale and Crowley needed some time together.
Aziraphale pulled Crowley into more of a hug, he gazed into his snake eyes. “Oh how much I miss gazing into these lovely yellow eyes,” With a smile he brought up the Bentley situation, “that is why I turned your Bentley yellow. I fell into yellow the day my eyes couldn’t stop gazing into your beautiful snake eyes.”
Crowley never really had a chance to be this valuable or gaze for so long into Aziraphale’s eyes. Tears started to fall from Crowley’s eyes, “Oh my dear, now now.” Spoke Aziraphale softly. "Your eyes," Crowley responded, "they are stars…the stars I helped to make…but they are no longer blue…they are purple.”
Aziraphale creased Crowley’s cheek, “Yes dear, they are stars…and for the change of eye color…well,” he sighed looking for the right words, “well they are temporary for I was the highest archangel for some time. But right now, let’s yet you a bath dear. You smell of blood and alcohol.”
Crowley just chuckled softly, “Yeah…good idea angel.” Aziraphale helped Crowley stand up and walk over to the bathroom. As Aziraphale began to help his dear serpent de-dress he saw all the freckles on his shoulders he gave Crowley in the past. But what caught his eyes attention more, was the fresh horizontal scars on Crowley’s wrist.
Aziraphale gently held Crowley’s wrist, “My dear…” Crowley quickly responded, “I’m sorry…” he was so valuable at this moment, and he didn’t care, “after so many centuries of trying so hard to do the best so you could fall in love with me. The kiss, the decision heaven over me, after I confess my feelings and love…I just couldn't do it anymore. I tried my best to brush it off and stay the same tough mean demon I am…but the damage you left on my heart was too great. I made sure Muriel was on a grocery run when I locked myself in the bathroom…" Tears welled too much and his voice creaked to the point he couldn't say much. Aziraphale just hugged him.
“Shh it’s ok dear…it’s ok. I’m here now and I will never leave you again. I promise my soul on that."
Aziraphale whispered softly. “No more missing nightingale?” asked Crowley, “No more missing nightingales” replied Aziraphale.
"We can dine together at the Ritz, sit on our favorite bench in the St. James Park and listen to nightingales, go on dusk flies together to watch the sunset, or…or just sit together in the bookshop as we listen to the traffic. We can just sit on the couch as we snuggle close to each other so we can hear each other’s heartbeat." Aziraphale spoke as he vowed. Crowley just nodded as he buried his face into his angel's tartan waistcoat. His nostrils filled with the familiar smell of his angel, vanilla, aged paper, oddly enough orange marmalade. But the one thing that was off…was coffee with a dash of oat milk. But this scent of coffee was faint like he hadn't drunk in some time. He just shrugged it off in his mind as he continued to enjoy the hug from his lovely angel.
[I may or may not continue with this story. If I were to continue it might be comfort, Aziraphale helping Crowley get a bath, snuggling, all 3 of them going for a picnic, or just Aziraphale and Crowley going to the Ritz. If you have any ideas for future chapters, drop them down below. Please and thank you : ) ]
