(Adult Relationship - Jamie was present when Sylvanas was born)

Jamie opened the front door quietly hoping not to disturb her girlfriend. She froze as the living room light switched on and Sylvanas glared at her from across the room. Jamie swallowed hard, toed off her sneakers, and headed for the bedroom. Sylvanas climbed lazily to her feet and followed. Jamie's eyes widened at the sight of the switch resting on the dresser, and she turned to face her lover in unfeigned horror.

"Sylvanas, no, please. Please not the switch."

Sylvanas just picked up the switch, eyebrows arching sternly. "Strip."

Jamie whimpered as she backed up toward the bed, hands out in front of her imploringly. "Please, Sylvanas. Please not the switch."

Sylvanas' eyes narrowed. "Strip, now. I'm not going to tell you again."

Jamie swallowed hard, her hands shaking as she removed her clothes and stood in front of her lover naked. It wasn't that she was shy, or that Sylvanas hadn't seen her naked before, but she knew this was just a preliminary to getting her butt whipped with that damn switch. She'd never been punished with the switch before. Sure, she'd gotten her share of smacks with Sylvanas' hand, or that damn paddle she kept in the nightstand, even one of Sylvanas' belts, but never a switch or a cane.

"Lay flat on the bed, near the end."

There was no inflection in Sylvanas' voice, and Jamie shook with absolute terror. Usually, she could tell from her lover's tone of voice how pissed off she was, but this empty sounding voice was new. Jamie decided she didn't like this new empty voice, not one damn bit. She crossed her arms over her chest defiantly.

"I'd rather not." Her voice quavered bravely. "Just put me over your knee and spank me already."

Sylvanas cocked her head, her eyes glinting dangerously. "That wasn't a suggestion."

She took a step in Jamie's direction, and the young woman's bravery fled. Throwing herself on the bed, she laid parallel to the end of the bed, her head buried in her arms, her legs quivering slightly. When Sylvanas rested a hand on the middle of her back, she flinched and considered begging for mercy again. There was a swish, and then a line of fire painted itself across Jamie's backside.

"Aieeee." Jamie howled. "Sylvanas, nooooo. Please. I'm sorry." Another swish. Another line of fire. Jamie howled again. "Sylvanas, please. Please no more. I'm sorry I disobeyed."

Sylvanas' brows furrowed, and she laid down a third stripe just below the second. "You disobeyed me deliberately, little one. You knew the consequences, and you did it anyway."

The fourth and final stroke landed on the tender underside of her bottom, and Jamie shrieked an absolutely heart-rending sob. "I'm sorry, Sylvanas. I'm sorry. I'll be good, I promise. I won't disobey you again, I swear."

Sylvanas sighed then broke the switch over her knee until it was a small pile of kindling. Tossing the pieces in a pile on the floor, she climbed up on the bed to lay beside her sobbing lover. Jamie shuddered through her tears as the older woman pulled her into her arms and held her tightly.

"I'm sorry I had to punish you so severely, baby girl, but I will not tolerate deliberate disobedience. Is that understood?"

Jamie nodded as she buried her face in Sylvanas' neck. "Yes, ma'am, love. I understand. I know you told me no duels, but this once, I had to. Arthas had it coming, and this was the only way you could keep your hands clean. Whatever happens, know I did this for you, and I'd do it again if necessary."

Sylvanas sighed. "I know, baby girl, and that's why I punished you. I can't have you calling out my enemies like that, challenging them to a duel, and then killing them. Sooner or later, it's going to come back and bite us in the ass."

Jamie looked up with a sniffle. "I know you don't want to hear it, love, but I'm not sorry I killed him. I couldn't let him hurt you again, not after what he did, what he was planning to do."

Sylvanas pinched the bridge of her nose. "Jamie, baby, you don't know what he was planning to do."

Jamie snorted. "I'm sorry to contradict you, love, but yes, I do. I have evidence, documented proof, that he was going to try and ruin you personally, as well as your family name. I couldn't let him do it."

Sylvanas sighed. "Killing him won't stop the rest of them. They're just going to keep coming after me, after us."

Jamie sniffled again. "That's where you're wrong, love. I faxed Menethil Enterprises copies of my evidence against Arthas. In exchange for not going public about his illegal activity, they have agreed to cease their vendetta against any and all Windrunner related operations. If at any time I detect any attempt to move against us by one of their companies, I can make public my evidence against Arthas. They would be utterly ruined, and they know it."

Sylvanas frowned. "What's stopping them from coming after you personally? How do you know they won't just try and kill you, or me? What about Alleria and Veressa?"

Jamie hugged Sylvanas tightly. "I have people in place watching over your sisters even now. Besides, Alleria is married to a dragon. You really think they're going to get past Alexstrasza?"

Sylvanas pursed her lips. "You may have a point there, but what about Veressa?"

Jamie kissed her lover gently. "There are four rangers assigned to keep an eye on Veressa, one of which is working in the same lab alongside her as an assistant. Plus, there's more security around that building than there is around the capitol. Veressa is probably better protected than our fair prince."

"And what of me?" Sylvanas asked bemusedly. "Do I have bodyguards as well?"

Jamie shrugged. "In a matter of speaking. You have me and certain friends who shall remain unnamed. You also have Liadrin for your head of security. The wards on every Windrunner property have been tripled, and Jaina has been busy setting magical traps in likely places around the city."

Sylvanas opened her mouth to protest, but Jamie kissed away her objections. "Relax, love. The traps are specifically designed as defensive traps meant to incapacitate, not kill, and they won't target innocents. Even if they challenge me to a duel, which is legal in Quel'Thalas, they won't dare. And they won't challenge anyone else either because I would just kill them, and they know it."

Sylvanas sighed. "Jamie, baby, you can't fight all our battles."

Jamie stiffened, sitting up abruptly to glare down at her lover. "I can and most definitely will. I am House Windrunner's champion. I promised your mother I would watch over you and protect you. I will not fail my sacred duty."

Sylvanas' brow furrowed in confusion. "What exactly do you mean, baby girl? Champion of what? And how can you have promised my mother anything? She and my father died before we even met."

Jamie swallowed hard, averting her eyes from her lover's confused look. "I uh… I may have left out some details about my life before we met. I'm actually a lot older than I look?" Jamie bit her lip nervously. "I um— I was there when you were born—when all of you were born. Your mother made me swear the Protector's Oath at each of your births. I am bound to House Windrunner forever."

Sylvanas arched an eyebrow. "Forever? As in the end of time, forever?"

Jamie nodded solemnly. "I gave my word to protect you and your line for as long as stars do shine."

Sylvanas shook her head uncomprehendingly. "But—that makes you older than all of us. I mean, you should be positively ancient, and yet you don't look any older than Alleria or me."

Jamie shrugged. "I'm an Elf, same as you are mostly. I was forged in dragon blood at birth, which I probably shouldn't be telling you. Alexstrasza will undoubtably kick my ass for letting that slip."

Sylvanas flipped Jamie down over her lap. "I'm not sure whether to spank you or make love to you. If what you say is true… How old are you exactly?"

Jamie sighed wearily. "Are we still on this? I served your grandfather and his father before him. I don't know how old I am, but I was there when Anasterian was made king. I stood beside Tyrande at the Sundering. I walked beside Illidan when he created the Sunwell. Alexstrasza and I are well acquainted which is why she's going to be pissed that I didn't get her permission before spilling the beans, as it were."

Sylvanas' ears stiffened just as there came a pounding at the front door. Jamie flinched, climbing slowly to her feet, and wrapping herself in a robe as her lover went to answer the door.

"Open the damn door, Jamie. I know you're in there."

Alexstrasza was well beyond pissed, and Jamie flinched. She hid behind Sylvanas as the door opened and Alleria strode inside, followed by her wife. Jamie was thankful the dragon chose to use her Elven form most of the time. Alexstrasza glanced around the room until her gaze landed on Jamie. She started across the room only to be delayed by two hands, one belonging to Alleria and one to Sylvanas.

"Let me go, both of you." She ordered. "She's got an ass kicking coming, and she knows it."

Jamie flinched then put a hand on Sylvanas' arm. "It's alright. Let her go."

Alexstrasza's eyes narrowed as Jamie stepped out from behind her lover's protection. She moved into the younger woman's personal space, hands twitching in suspicion as Jamie hung her head and fidgeted. She raised a hand to cuff the younger woman on the ear then changed her mind, propping up her knee and flipping Jamie over her hip. Jamie let out a gasp as Alexstrasza pulled up the back of her robe to expose her striped and welted backside. There was strained silence then Alexstrasza ran a hand over the welts.

"Sylvanas took a switch to you."

Her voice was matter of fact, and Jamie swallowed hard. "Yes, ma'am, for challenging Arthas to a duel."

Alexstrasza cocked her head, confused. "But you're Protector and Champion of House Windrunner. You swore an oath to protect them. Does this not fall within your purview?"

Jamie nodded in resignation. "Yes, ma'am, it does, but until today, Sylvanas didn't know all the particulars. I never told her who I was or where I came from. I never told any of them. I didn't want it to change how Sylvanas felt about me. She ordered me not to challenge Arthas, but I had to. I had to protect them."

Alexstrasza lifted Jamie from her lap and set her on her feet. "That's why you didn't say anything when Alleria and I got married."

Jamie nodded, still staring at her feet. "I could feel Alleria's love for you was genuine, and I knew you would be a better protector for her than I ever could. Besides, by that time I'd already fallen in love with Sylvanas, and I felt torn in my duty. You gave me an out without even realizing it."

"And Veressa?" Alexstrasza cocked her head enquiringly.

Jamie's eyes flared dangerously. "Veressa is protected by layers upon layers of wards, and there are people in place to ensure her safety. Liadrin and Jaina have been made aware of the potential dangers, a fact which they nearly kicked my ass for as well."

Alexstrasza hummed. "Jaina and Liadrin, huh? I confess I didn't see that coming."

Jamie chuckled darkly. "Liadrin has been serving House Windrunner for some time, and it was only a matter of time before I brought in Lady Proudmoore."

Sylvanas glared at Jamie from across the room where she and Alleria had been conversing quietly. "Are you telling me you set this in motion some time ago? You knew Menethil was going to be a problem from the start."

Alleria strode across the room, her eyes blazing dangerously. "Did you set me up to fall in love with Alexstrasza?"

Jamie's eyes widened and she shook her head vigorously. "No, ma'am. I swear I had nothing to do with that. I admit I was pleased when it happened, but I know better than to try and manipulate a dragon, and I would never interfere in matters of the heart."

Sylvanas tipped Jamie's chin upward with a single, slender finger. "And what about me? If you've been watching over us since birth, explain how you just 'fell in love' with me."

Jamie flinched as she averted her eyes. "I didn't exactly. I've been in love with you all along, for as long as I can remember. Your mother forbade me from pursuing it, from pursuing you, but I think I knew all along that we would end up together."

Sylvanas' brows furrowed and she frowned. "I don't understand."

Jamie sighed as she collapsed carefully onto the couch. "When you were born, I was instantly captivated. I felt a stirring inside, and I knew we were made for each other. It didn't matter that I was older than you. As you've gathered, I'm ageless, thanks to Alexstrasza."

"Speaking of which." Alexstrasza glared down at Jamie. "I'm still not sure how I feel about you spilling the beans, as it were."

Jamie shrugged blithely. "I'm not sorry I told her. It was time she knew the truth. Her mother made me promise not to tell and out of respect for her parents, I have done so for these many years. But her parents have been gone nearly fifty years, and that promise no longer binds me." Jamie looked up at Sylvanas, her eyes boring into her lover with gentle intensity. "My promise, my oath, my heart—all that I am is bound to Sylvanas, and I will no longer hide who and what I am."

Sylvanas stared wide-eyed as Jamie stood, dropped her robe, then knelt naked at her feet. "Sylvanas Windrunner, all that I am I pledge to you—my hand, my heart, my life, my will—until my dying breath."

Sylvanas let out her breath with a whoosh as she collapsed in a heap on the couch. This was too much. Too much information at once. Jamie was oath bound to her, but she'd just made a declaration of eternal love, vows as it were, until death do us part and all that shit. Could she accept? Should she accept? She looked down at the young/old woman who continued to kneel at her feet.

"Jamie, I don't know what to say. Hell, I don't know what to think or to feel except that I know I love you."

Jamie threw her arms around Sylvanas' waist, burying her face in her lover's lap. "Then that's all I need for now. The rest will come in time." She looked up mischievously. "There is one more thing."

Sylvanas arched an eyebrow, and Jamie grinned. "Sylvanas Windrunner, will you marry me?"
