A day with Daddy

Summary:

Mihawk spends some time with his baby.

Work Text:

"Zoro!"

The six-month-old baby giggled as he crawled away from his dad, who looked after him.

He only stopped running when he saw his big sister in the kitchen preparing her backpack for school.

He made happy noises and crawled towards her, squeezing the skirt of her school uniform in his little hand to get her attention.

Perona looked down at him and smiled.

"Hello, little monster" she said, touching his nose with a finger in an affectionate way.

The baby stretched out his arms towards his older sister, but was immediately grabbed by his father.

He made a displeased noise as he was placed inside the pouch strapped to his father's chest.

He looked up at his father, pouting.

"There's no point in looking at me like that, Roronoa" he scolded him "Today your grandfather won't be able to take care of you, so I'll take you with me"

Mihawk was a very busy man, he didn't always have time to take care of his children.

Luckily Perona went to kindergarten, but Zoro was too young and he would never have left him alone at home.

Luckily Rayleigh really enjoyed spending time with her grandson, and Zoro seemed to enjoy his grandfather's presence too.

Zoro rested his head on his chest, giving in and stopping complaining.

"Daddy, Zoro's toy" said her daughter, handing him the toy that the baby loved to bite to relieve the pain in his gums, due to the emergence of his first teeth.

"Thank you, have you prepared everything?" he asked.

She nodded.

"Then let's go to school"

Once he dropped Perona off at school, he was ready to head to the dojo, when he heard his own stomach growl.

That morning he hadn't had time to have breakfast.

"A quick breakfast at Baratie won't hurt us, Roronoa" he said, looking down at his baby, who had dozed off against his chest.

Zoro slept really a lot, a little more than normal for a baby of his age.

Mihawk just hoped that he wouldn't be a lazy boy when he grew up.

He got out of the car and entered his friend Zeff's restaurant and took a seat.

"Did you forget to have breakfast this morning too?"

The restaurant chef approached him, he also had a pouch on his chest, with a small blonde head peeking out of it.

“I see you brought your little brat to work too” he said.

"I don't trust anyone to keep an eye on my little eggplant" he said stroking his son's head "And then it's better to educate him from an early age, maybe one day he will become a great chef like me" he chuckled.

Mihawk smiled.

"Shall I bring you the usual?" he asked.

He nodded.

"And also something cold for Zoro" he said stroking his son's soft green hair.

"Your little brat's getting his first teeth too, huh?" he asked rhetorically "I will bring what you requested"

He waited for his order, and as he suspected, Zoro woke up and started making whining noises due to the pain in his gums.

He tried to calm him down, handing him his toy.

When Zeff finally arrived with the food, he held a spoonful of ice cream to his son's mouth, who welcomed the food with great pleasure.

The cold food seemed to ease his pain, because he finally calmed down.

He continued until the baby finally relaxed and leaned against his father's chest again, yawning.

Mihawk ate his breakfast, paid the bill and ran to the dojo.

"Hello, Hawkeye-kun!" exclaimed that damned Red approaching him "Hi, Zoro-kun" he then said making faces at his son, who giggled.

Mihawk sighed.

"Hold him, Red," he said, handing him the baby.

Shanks picked him up.

Little Zoro frowned, not happy about being taken out of his daddy's arms.

"If you drop him or anything happens to him..." he narrowed his eyes "I'll cut you in half"

"I'm not that irresponsible!" he exclaimed offended "You can trust me to take care of our son"

Mihawk blushed.

"He's not OUR son! He's only MY son!" he exclaimed before approaching his students to teach them swordsmanship.

Zoro watched fascinated his father swing his great sword with mastery and he stretched out his hands towards him, as if to reach him.

"He is really great, isn't he Zoro?" Shanks asked chuckling "That's your daddy"

“D-daddy” he stammered.

The redhead's eyes widened.

"W-what did you say? Can you repeat that?" he asked, looking at him in amazement.

"Daddy" the baby said, this time with more conviction.

"Aww, Kawaii~" he exclaimed "When Rayleigh finds out he will go crazy, and so will your daddy"

"Daddy" he said again, smiling.

"Hawkeye-kun!~" he exclaimed as he approached him.

Mihawk stopped swinging his sword as soon as he saw his idiot partner approaching with his son in his arms.

"You idiot, don't come near me with a sword in my hand when you're holding my son!" he exclaimed "He could get hurt a lot!"

"I could have hurt myself a lot too, Hawkeye-kun" Shanks said.

"I don't care about you!" he lied "I only care about my Zoro" he sighed "What do you want anyway?"

The redhead smiles, holding the baby out towards him.

"Say it again, Zoro" he said happily "Who is this grumpy guy"

"Daddy" he said giggling and holding out his hands towards him "Daddy"

Mihawk brought the sword back to the ground with a dull thud and literally ripped the baby from his boyfriend's arms.

"Say it again, Zoro" he said as his heart swelled with happiness.

The baby brought his little hands to his cheeks and smiled.

"Daddy"

Mihawk smiled.

"Yes, I'm your daddy" he whispered "You have no idea how happy you make me, Roronoa"

The beautiful moment was interrupted by the flash of Shanks' phone.

"So cute!" he exclaimed "This goes into my collection of your cutest photos Hawkeye-kun"

He blushed.

"Shut up!"
