Chapter Text
It was rough.
As the new daycare assistant, you were a bit overwhelmed due to the event week. You could tell how stressed Sun was with the flood of kids every day of the last two weeks but, it was in the past. Sure, you had to fix a few fried wires due to Sun getting overworked. Maybe you had the thought of throwing yourself off the balcony. But it's fine now, it was the normal amount of kids now, until the next event. You didn't regret being a daycare assistant, only for one reason. The company. Sure it wasn't an adult human being but rather a charming robot who seemed very optimistic, who doesn't like the dark, a reason you don't understand but respect. Sun has definitely been the highlight of your job. Cleaning after closing is definitely a lot more fun with your friend, Sun
“Hey Sun?” You call your jester friend ,who you thought wouldn't hear you due to him being across the daycare. “yes y/n?” You heard him call back, with his usual loud voice, you were surprised he heard you over the loud music. “Is there a reason you don't like the dark?” You could hear how he tenses up, a slight metal screech. “It's scary…” his voice is oddly soft and quiet. Guilt hits you like a truck.”oh- Sorry, is it a personal thing you don't want to talk about?” you looked at Sun, concerned. “It’s about time we tell you the truth..” his voice sounds slightly off. “wait…who's ‘we’?” You tilt your head to the side, confused now as Sun walks to the light switch. “I'll see you in a bit, okay y/n?” He sounds like he's trying to reassure himself.
The light went out.
You heard him.
He sounded like he was in pain.
“Sun?” You call out, only to get a sinister chuckle in response, not Sun. “Why hello there Y/n~ So glad to finally meet you,” a dark, gravelly voice responded, red glowing eyes concentrated on you. “Who are you?” You take a hesitant step back, he chuckles. “How rude of me, I'm Moon, Sun’s…other half~” he grins, sharp teeth being barred. You blink, surprised. “That was…unexpected- are you why Sun doesn't like the lights off?” You ask, brows furrowing. “You ask a lot of questions Starlight, but yes, I'm the reason the lights stay on~ I'm surprised Sun put trust in me this one time. Well, not too surprised..heh~” his gaze is locked onto you.
He moves forward, a cold hand holding your chin now. “I get why Sun likes you so much, very brave and nice. No wonder,” he looks at you, his eyes trained on yours, Your heart is pounding, you're trying to stay calm. You feel his arm snake around your waist, your heart skipping a beat. “Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you Starlight, it'd be a waste of a pretty face~” he smirked as a slight warmth rose to your face. “Wh-what?” You stutter, now looking him right in the eyes. His grip tightened before he hoisted you up and over his shoulder. “Don't worry about it, you'll find out soon enough~” he spoke as he clipped to what looked like a thick wire with a hook on it that was attached to the loop on his back. You cling to Moon, not wishing to fall. You hear Moon chuckle again, shifting his hold to a princess carry. “There, that better?” He gives you a coy look, which you give a brief glare at. He lands on the balcony of their room, now carrying you in. “W-wait, Sun said I'm not supposed to go in there-” you try to object but Moon puts a finger to your lips. “I'm in charge now, not Sun, now hush,” he looked down at you with much gentler eyes. He gently set you down in what you could guess was their bed, a mess of blankets and pillows in the form of a circle. Less of a bed, more of a nest.
You were a tad bit startled when Moon moved beside you, now laying down next to you. You blankly stared at him for at least five minutes. “So, why didn't you run? When the lights went out… most people do,” Moon shrugs a bit, looking at you with curiosity. “I- don't know, I just didn't see you as a threat I guess? You look a lot like Sun just much calmer, rather than extremely energetic and bright like him,” you smile softly, looking over at Moon whose eyes have dilated and a soft purple hue covering his cheeks. He wraps his arms around you, forcing you to lay down on his chest. Purring…he's purring- that wasn't expected. You start tracing small stars on his chest, noticing how his purrs are getting louder and his eyes droopy. Eventually, you both fall asleep, or the closest thing to it.
You woke up to blinding lights, groaning a bit. You couldn't move. Your eyes adjust and you see Sun, completely passed out. He was holding you, close and tight like you'd disappear if he let go. You smiled softly, gently touching his arms to try to stir him awake, which worked, his eyes sliding open, a groggy sound coming from his voice box. “Oh, hi there Y/n,” his voice was soft but happy. “Hi Sun, you sleep well?” you chuckle a bit, still running your hand along his arm. He nods.
“Glad you're fine with both of us”
