Naruto was nervous beyond belief it was his wife's birthday. He wanted to make it perfect and show her how much she means to him. She was the person that he never knew he wanted until he almost lost her during the moon incident. When Hinata's sister was kidnapped, it was difficult for him to wrap his head around it this woman that he had grown to love in the past 7 years ever since that time they celebrated her 13th birthday together.
3 years ago he celebrated her birthday; to keep her mind off what happened in the war and the death of her cousin. It wasn't anything special that they did but the smile that he saw on her face was worth it he had a photo of that day on his wall. It was the one of many times he had celebrated her birthday. He wasn't able to do anything with at all at that time due to him not having a arm. He smiles at the memory he spent most of his money to take a picture. He looked at it had it seeing her smile despite the grief that she was going through at the time warmed his heart.
It was worth going a month without ramen just to take this picture. The picture the following year was taken at Ichiraku where she became the glutton Queen he requested the owner if he could Mount this picture of them both on his wall . It was a year before the moon incident before he realized he was in love with her.
There was another picture this picture taken the day after the mission and again it was at Ichiraku. A wonderful memory he was broke he wasn't able to afford to take her into a fancy restaurant and being the thoughtful woman that she is, they went to their favorite restaurant. He treasured these photos but he wanted to do something that she would want this day was about her this year he was going to outdo what he had done the previous years before.
He looked at his sleeping wife who was 6 months pregnant. He never thought he would ever be a father nor would he have a wonderful woman like Hinata as his wife. He celebrated her birthday before but this was different. This was the first time he would celebrate it in their marriage and the last time before their child would be born. He put it in his calendar; it was the thing that he looked forward to all year. Nothing else mattered, nothing would sway him to do anything but show his soulmate how much he appreciates her.
He needed a time to think what would be perfect for her birthday?”Hey Kurama do you have any suggestions?”Naruto asked his friend.”kit it isn't that difficult just do what makes her happy, it isn't that hard,”he said, annoyed.” She's my Hime. I won't give her anything less. I just need something. It's the first time in our marriage and I don't want to screw it up”he heard his friend chuckle as if he said something amusing.
He thought deeply what would make Hinata extremely happy making her favorite foods would definitely be a start but he's not confident enough in his cooking skills his wife was leaps and bounds better than he is. This would be a lot easier if she wasn't pregnant wait. He thought about it, why didn't he consider it before?”Oh so you came up with something halfway decent, something simple”yes it would be perfect.
He looked at his wallet he was broke he would have to ask a favor from Shikimaru he doesn't think he would deny his friend. Before he could head out he noticed his wife opening her eyes.”Where are you going, Naruto Kun?”Hinata asked, yawning, "It was early in the morning.” I got an errand to do. I'll be back,”Naruto said as he kissed his wife on the forehead.
“Why do I have the feeling that you are planning something?”Hinata asked her husband.”I can't tell you that would be telling”his wife was smiling they did this on his birthday when she surprised him. Does she suspect something similar? He hopes not he wants what he does as a huge surprise.
“I'll see you in a bit dear”Naruto heads out he hopes Shikimaru doesn't get too mad.
Hinata got up from her bed. It was difficult to believe that it was only a year before where she narrowly avoided getting married to someone that wasn't Naruto and her sister got kidnapped, the mission that changed her and Naruto's relationship and 6 months after that they got married. They did things for 2 years before the mission that would change their lives when she thinks about it in retrospect Naruto and her were dating unofficially and they didn't acknowledge it when it was obvious to anybody that was paying attention to them they spend a lot of time together.
The first time they celebrated her birthday she cried she didn't think he would care that much. She remembers that memory fondly. Naruto even had a picture taken she was 13 at the time when she was sad and depressed. It was one of the of the things that helped her keep going when Naruto was away in the 3 years when he wasn't able to celebrate her birthday but he did send her letters which she still kept. She looked at the photos of every year that they celebrated her birthday. She wondered what her husband would do this year she felt a kick." Daddy will be back he's running an errand”she said to her unborn child they thought about names. If it was a boy she would name him Boruto and if it's a girl they would name her Himawari.
Ever since her pregnancy she was forbidden from participating in any missions not that she would want to anyway she was encouraged relax and not do anything that would put her or her baby in danger. Naruto didn't leave the village much; she appreciated her husband doing such a thing. Considering how lonely she feels when Naruto is not around and it's only gotten worse since her pregnancy.
In order to pass the time she decided to cook for her husband. Although she had a strong craving for something really spicy though she doesn't normally crave these foods it's the hormones.”I'll have to ask Naruto when he comes back” she sang to herself as she started cooking Naruto's favorite breakfast that wasn't ramen.
“Are you kidding me what the hell happened to your money?”asked Shikimaru.”It's my wife's strange cravings, you know how pregnant women are.”Naruto said nervously.”seriously Naruto I have to deal with my wife's constant demands for strange foods this is really not the time”Naruto wasn't going to be swayed he wasn't going to come home empty-handed he had to make it perfect.”Please Shikamaru I'll pay you back I've always have”his friend signed in annoyance.
Shikimaru went inside his house it didn't take long before he handed Naruto the required funds that he would need.”you better make your wife happy because I'll be pissed otherwise don't make me get Kiba because you know how protective he is of someone he sees as a sister.”Naruto understood perfectly well. “You won't regret this I promise”Naruto bid his friend farewell. Yes he would be able to get what he needs to make this birthday perfect.
He went to the nearest shop that was open he purchase a camera that was able to take pictures of the highest quality imaginable. On his way he purchased homemade cinnamon rolls, his wife's favorite. The last stop that he made he went to the Jewel shop that he got his wife's wedding ring from. When he entered the shop the old man smiled at Naruto.”My boy so it's your wife's birthday?”Naruto smiled.” yeah, is it ready?”he asked. the man nodded. He handed him a case which contained a necklace which was the symbol of the Uzumaki clan. What was inside was a picture that recaptured their first kiss he described in vivid detail to an artist to draw what it looked like it was beautiful she would love it.
He went 4 months without Ramen to get this necklace made. It would all be worth it.”You're spoiling your mate”Kurama pointed out.”she doesn't deserve anything less”Naruto replied.”Tell your wife I said hi”the old man said to Naruto as he left.
He has the camera and he has the gift. There was one more thing that he needed but he wouldn't be able to do anything about it until later because how early it was in the day. Hopefully the weather didn't ruin what he had in mind.
Hinata was done making breakfast when Naruto came in she put the food on the table and Naruto kissed her on the lips.”This smells great,”Naruto said with a smile. They ate in silence. She was wondering what he was thinking.”I got something special planned for us today,”Naruto said excitedly.” What would that be?”Hinata asked curious.”I can't tell you that would spoil the surprise,”Naruto said with his smile that she only knew only too well.
She wondered what Naruto had in mind this year it amazed her how out of all the days of the year her birthday was the day he never forgot.”oh I almost forgot”Naruto went inside the bag that he left on the floor and gave it to her.”unfortunately I cannot cook your favorite sweet so I”Hinata didn't need to hear anymore she opened the box and it was two homemade cinnamon rolls her favorite sweet. She remembers their first time they celebrated her birthday where Naruto bought her homemade sweets for her to cheer her up she remembers that memory fondly.
“Why are you crying?”Naruto asked her worried she had to elevate his concerns quickly so he doesn't jump to conclusions.”I'm just happy I'm just reminded of the first time you celebrated my birthday”Naruto smiled knowing what she was referring to.”Your smile was the most beautiful thing I've ever saw you were absolutely adorable”her face turned red at the memory it was also embarrassing at the time when she didn't have the courage she did now.
“if anything I'd argue it was your smile that made me fall in love with you”Naruto admitted.”I know it's cheesy but it's true”Naruto said feeling stupid.”No I think it's wonderful it was your smile that made me fall in love with you as well” Hinata replied they continued eating her husband doing what he always does with her cooking takes his time to savor it.”I promise you one day I will make your favorite foods myself”she smiled at his gesture it wouldn't matter if he did it's the thought that counts for her.
They were done eating. Naruto picked up the dishes and did them himself. She didn't mind doing it but Naruto insisted this was her day off. It was his turn. After he was done she sat down on their couch with Naruto wrapping his arm around her.” I wouldn't mind just sitting here as long as I'm with you nothing else matters”she leaned on his shoulder. It didn't matter the fact that he was here for her on her birthday for her that was enough. " I have something that I want to show you as a surprise you wouldn't mind if I blindfold you until we get there, would you?”Naruto asked her "I would love that”she said to him softly. They stayed there for hours not saying anything. It wasn't necessary she can go the whole day just doing this and she'd be happy because Naruto was with her.
A few hours later Naruto put a blindfold on her so she would not know where they were going he picked her up bridal style. He was gentle in his movements he didn't go too fast. She loved the wind on her face despite it being cold at this time of the year then she felt Naruto stop he gently put her down. Then he removed the blindfold and she was treated with the most beautiful sight imaginable.
“It's beautiful” she couldn't help but say she could see the whole village she can even see their home from where they were at.”Remember the first time I took you here?”Naruto reminiscing of the first time that they came here when they were 13. It was 7 years ago.”I remember it well it's one of my most treasured memories.”Hinata felt a tear fall through her eye thinking about it when she thinks she couldn't love Naruto more than she already does he does the unthinkable.” I used to go here a lot when I was a child. Whenever I felt sad I took you here because you were sad that day and I wanted you to be happy.”This was their first memory together she remembers it vividly if only they could have captured the moment together where they held each other's hands for the first time as they looked at the village.
They did take a picture afterwards one of the sellers offered it Naruto wasn't able to have ramen for a month because of it. She appreciated his sacrifice then she wondered what happened why didn't Naruto have ramen for four months? It was unusual.”Hinata you mean the world to me you brought me so much joy and happiness. I don't know what I would do without you and the only thing I can do to repay you is to make you happy on your birthday.” Naruto took something out of his pocket she wondered what it was.
He handed it to her and She opened it and it was a necklace it was made with the finest materials. It was no wonder he went four months without Ramen at Ichiraku, then she opened the necklace in it was in vivid detail, capturing their first kiss after the moon mission. There was tears of joy she would treasure this gift till the end of her days.
“My Hime now and always every year I want to make this day the happiest I can possibly make it because that's how much you mean to me your smile it brightens up my day I wouldn't be the man that I am if it weren't for you I wouldn't be who I am today if you weren't in my life thank you”Naruto was crying holding back his tears but he couldn't.”Thank you for being born I love you so much”she wrapped her arms around him as he wrapped his arms around her she kissed him with more passion and she ever felt in her life.
Like the years before a picture was taken to capture this moment though multiple were taken they would put this in their photo album to add it to another of their collection of treasured memories. Naruto's words to her on this birthday would forever be ingrained into her soul and would never forget. With Naruto she can look forward to her birthdays every year because she knows someone loves her as much as her husband does next year she'll do the same for him.
