Link pulled the Master Sword in front of the Great Deku Tree and felt the power flow through him.
Da da da-DA
He held it above his head.
You got the Master Sword. The Blade of Evil's Bane and the Sword that Seals the Darkness. Be sure not to cut yourself, it's pretty sharp.
Lowering his hands and sheathing the sword with a fancy flourish into a sheath he swears he didn't have before, Link stands just a little taller than before. Yet, somehow, his shoulders feel that much heavier.
"With great power comes great responsibility," the enormous tree rumbles, startling Link from his thoughts.
"What's that supposed to mean?" he asks.
Somehow, the Great Deku Tree shrugged without shoulders. "Nothing really. It's just an obligatory thing you have to say when a Hero gains power. Your family is kind of dead already, so I figured it'd be my job to say it."
"Is that what this weight on my shoulders is? The weight of duty?"
"No," says the Deku Tree, somehow not learning how to speak with its inside voice over the millennia, "You've got some Koroks sitting on your shoulder. Little shits climbed up when you bent down to grab the sword."
Sure enough, a pair of the annoying buggers were sitting on his shoulder, curiously poking the fancy hilt of the legendary blade that was absolutely not to be used to mine for diamonds.
'Oh these shits are so getting crucified,' Link thought.
Then Tears of the Kingdom happened a few years later.
"Link, what are you doing?" Zelda asked, curious, but no longer surprised at the weird shit her Hero did in his spare time. He'd picked up some weird quirks since 100 years ago, but between dying and the memory loss and almost dying again and messing with ghosts, she was willing to cut him some slack.
Link looked over from where he'd been attaching another Korok to a cross, using the Ultrahand ability the Furry King had been kind enough to leave him.
"Oh this? Just, something the Deku Tree once said to me."
He closed his eyes and puffed out his chest.
"With big powah, comes big responsibility."
Zelda tilted her head, "And that means torturing forest spirits?"
Link shrugged, "I don't know. But it's worked so far."
Zelda stared, rubbing her chin in contemplation before giving her own shrug.
"Works for me. I'll go get some more flame emitters.”
