leona curiously watched the person wandering around her forest, tail swishing from side to side.
she was not one to welcome visitors such as this often; quite the contrary. more often than not, they would run out screaming. and if they did not... well, she had several months worth of food, in that case.
this one, however.
this one was not entirely human. they wore much finer clothes than what travellers and adventurers usually wore, an elegant, black suit hugging their form, a white lily pinned to their chest. it resembled funeral garb, more than anything else. however, that wasn't what indicated their species to leona. it was, instead, what sprouted from their head- not hair- no, not at all. it was flame, blazing and bright, a vibrant blue, lighting up their path, but also putting a target on their back. the blue glow of their hair was what had woken her up earlier, and piqued her curiosity.
she watched as the intruder walked to a small clearing, then started huffing and puffing, angrily ripping pins from their hair and throwing them on the ground with a quiet scream, filled with rage. their hair lit up, blazing orange flame surrounding them, and leona's face lit up. what a wonderful display of magic!
the intruder then sighed, crouching down and picking up the pins they threw down earlier, then sat on the ground with another heavy sigh.
leona took this as an opportunity to appear behind them, with a hushed murmur in their ear.
"lost, o knight of the moon?"
the intruder flinched, turning around with a fist flying towards leona's face, easily caught by her. a smirk curled on her lips as she spoke. "now, now, dear knight. that is no way to greet your generous host, now is it?"
she watched them, smile on her face, as they turned even paler, the hair that was glowing such a bright orange moments ago turning a deep, dark blue, reminiscent of the night sky.
perhaps the mocking title she had called them wasn't too far off. the intruder began stuttering and stumbling over their words, and leona nearly laughed in their face. they were so fun to toy with, nervous heart beating loud enough for her to easily hear. the anxious thumping of their heart was almost sickeningly satisfying to leona.
"i-i'm not- i'm not a.. a knight, i'm just-"
leona leaned in, looking down at the intruder with half lidded eyes. "just passing through?"
the intruder made a sound of distress, grimacing. "i-i'm sorry, i was trying to run away-"
leona tilted her head, tail pausing its swishing, raising off the ground in interest. what a fascinating turn of events. her curiosity got the best of her again. "run away? from what, dear knight?"
she pointedly ignored the warmth settling in her chest as the intruder looked at her, wide eyed and almost hopeful, a look in their eyes leona wasn't used to seeing pointed at herself. such sincerity and hope- people didn't look at her like that. they looked on with fear, anxiety, distrust. never hope. never sincerity.
"i-i, this, this crazy lady, she- she kidnapped me, and wanted to- to marry me, and i kept trying to tell her i'm not a man, i can't be her husband, i didn't want it, but she wasn't- wasn't listening, and-"
leona pressed her finger to the intruder's lips, causing her to shut up instantly. an idea popped into leona's mind, an amused chuckle rising from her throat. "give me your name, knight."
the intruder replied instantly, not even thinking about the consequences of just handing her name to a fairy. "idia."
leona blinked, surprised, for a split second, before she sighed, face falling into a flat expression. "you aren't the smartest, are you?"
her free hand came up to grasp idia's chin, turning her face to get a good look at it. "the only thing you seem to have going for you so far is your pretty face."
idia's face flushed, cheeks turning a bright red, while the tips of her hair flared a bright pink. leona's eyes wandered towards it as idia spoke. "i-i'm very smart..."
leona locked eyes with her. "giving your name to a fairy so easily isn't very smart."
idia murmured something incomprehensible, looking away from leona, and she leaned in, nose almost touching idia's. "what was that, sweetheart?"
idia flushed even more, and her loud, erratic heartbeat echoed between the two clearly, catching leona's attention and causing an amused smile to curl on her lips. "i-i said that... pretty women are... an unfortunate weakness..."
leona laughed loudly, throwing her head back, then smirking down at idia. "a flatterer, are you? if i liked you any less, sweetheart, this wouldn't have worked, you know." her thumb swiped across idia's lips, then tried to slip inside. leona breathed in sharply as idia's mouth fell open, allowing her thumb to enter freely, and she pressed it against her teeth, biting down on her own lip as she felt almost razor sharp teeth against her thumb. idia was still staring up at leona with large, bright eyes.
"you're surprisingly obedient, sweetheart. i expected you to be a brat, but you're listening to me without an argument." leona's thumb slipped out of idia's mouth, and she let go of her chin, at which idia looked almost disappointed.
"y-you're just very authoritative..."
idia subconsciously followed leona's hand, leaning forwards until leona pressed her hand against idia's chest. leona smirked at her, leaning in close again, letting her lips brush against idia's.
"such a flatterer, sweetheart. you're lucky you're this cute, otherwise i would've chased you off long ago."
idia's breath hitched as she stared up at leona, waiting for her to keep talking.
"tell me, idia. won't you make a deal with me?"
