Work Text:
It seems such a ridiculous way to get hurt. Stabbed. Liandrin’s eyes close at the sensation, hating the feeling of her body betraying her in some new way. She’s been hurt many ways but never this, never just stabbed.
Quick hands catch her, pull her up onto what she can only assume is a dragon. She’s aware, briefly, of the other woman’s eyes on her face, then she’s under, hurt enough to fall into unconsciousness. She wakes to warmth, a fireplace and a fire, a dragon curled into her lap, the small, cooing, creature butting a small head against her fingers, the soft warmth drawing a slight laugh even as she winces, her touch soft over the small head under her fingers.
“She likes you…”
A quiet comment from the doorway as her savior enters and Liandrin’s smile lifts just slightly, a small, shy smile, fleeting.
“Rhaenys…”
“Hello, little Lioness.”
“Why…”
“Why wouldn’t I? You took your place as Aes Sedai, I took mine as wife and mother but I never forgot you…”
Quiet falls, the small dragon headbutting her hand again then Rhaenys speaks…
“Your friend seemed… worried… about her precious Darkling.”
“You… met her?”
“She’s… very charming. In her way.”
Rhaenys smiles just slightly.
“No more getting stabbed, not here, not with us.”
