Work Text:

Isabel ran down the stairs excited to tell her Da about the Christmas party. She was hoping this year he would finally let her go. All her friends would be there and even better James Sirius would be.
“Da! I'm so excited about the Christmas party! All my friends are going! And James Sirius will be there. Can I please go?” She begged.
Seamus sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Iz we’ve been over this. You aren't old enough to be going to parties yet. Especially parties with boys.”
Isabel put her hands on her hips. “But Da that isn’t fair! All my friends are going! I’m old enough to be making my own choices”
Seamus shook his head. “I don't care what any of your friends are doing. You're my daughter and I say you aren't old enough. I want you to be safe and you aren't at a party where I don’t know what's going on.”
Dean Thomas, Seamus’ husband walked in as he heard the commotion. “What's going on in here?”
“Dad! Da won't let me go to the Christmas party and it's not fair!” Isabel whined.
Dean looked at Seamus and then back to Isabel. “Love why don’t you let her go? She just wants to have a bit of fun. We can trust her.”
“Dean I just want what's best for her. Going to a party at her age is just too soon. Especially with boys involved…No, she just isn't ready.” Seamus shook his head.
“Seamus, do you even hear yourself? We were already dating each other at her age. Let alone going to parties. It's a part of letting her grow up. We can’t hold her hand forever.”
“See Da? Dad gets it. You can't keep treating me like a baby.” Izzy whined.
Dean could still see the reluctance on Seamus’ face. “We can set some ground rules,” he gives Isabel a pointed look. “Which she will listen to and she’ll have her spellophone.”
Seamus finally gave in. “Fine. But you will listen to your Dad’s rules and you have to keep your phone on you at all times.”
Isabel rushed over wrapping her arms around them in a hug. She squealed in excitement, “Thank you Da! Dad, you wont regret this I promise.” She ran off up the stairs to get ready.
Seamus looked to Dean. “I just worry. She’s our baby girl.”
Dean smiled and wrapped his arms around Seamus. “I know love but she's a good kid. We can trust her.”
Seamus nodded knowing his husband was right.
