Chapter 1: Make it shine

Chapter Text

Tori Vega's POV

It was a Monday morning and I woke up extra early, since it was my first day at a brand new school and I wanted to make a good impression on my teachers.

I took a shower and dressed up. Then, I brushed my hair and teeth and went downstairs, to see that Trina was already there, but no sigh of my mom, Holly.

"Mom is not awake." She said.

"Oh." I replied. My mom said she would take me to school on my first day. It is very foolish, I know, but it meant a lot to me.

"Don't worry, even though you're average, I'm sure you'll do okay." My sister tried to comfort me.

We unlocked the door and made our way to her car. I don't have a driver's license because I didn't see the old lady in the wheelchair...

I buckled my seatbelt and we went to school. We stopped by a Starbucks store near our house to get breakfast in the way.

When we arrived, Trina was saying something about the lines of 'I got you' and 'chill, I'm not going to leave you alone here' and then disappeared with one of her friends.

I spotted a girl with red hair and went talk to her. "Hi!"

"Wait, you're Tori, right? You did amazing at the big showcase!"

"Thank you! What's your name?"

"I'm Cat!"

"Oh, just like the animal!"

"What was that supposed to mean?!"

"Uh... nothing. I... I love cats."

"Kay kay!"

She just left me here. I sighed. Alone again.

I went to ask to a weird guy with his puppet some directions. I made my way to the classroom and...

Shit. I just made someone spill coffee over their shirt. "Oh god. I- I'm sorry."

I start rubbing my arm over the t-shirt, but that just made it worse.

When I lift my head to see who it is, I face a handsome guy. No, he is actually ugly, but his hair is majestic.

"Dude, why are you rubbing my boyfriend?!" I hear a female voice say. Oh, he has a girlfriend. "Get away from him!"

Any wave of sadness disappeared. I was amazed by how pretty this girl was. She was absolutely stunning.

I just shrugged and sat next to André, the only person I knew there.

The teacher arrived. Apparently his name was Erwin Sikowitz. It was a surprise... earlier this morning, I gave him two dollars because I thought it was homeless. He made us do 'Improv acting" and I had no idea of what that was, but I decided to be quiet.

Then, the pretty girl from before - which I discovered that was called Jade - had to pick some students. She picked me, Cat, Beck (the guy with good hair) and two other students.

We started and that girl made me play a dog. A fucking dog! I had to be on all fours and I had to bark!

The next thing I know is... coffee all over my hair.

"What's the prob, dog?"

"What the fuck, Jade?!" Beck yells.

I just run and go home. I was just about to ask my mom if I could get transferred back to my to my old school, then the door rang.

I sigh. "I'll get it."

It was André. He decided to come here to convince me into not leaving HA. One of his arguments was that Jade wouldn't expect that. He was right... and she certainly wouldn't like it.

And I really wanna see that bitchy face of hers reacting to that.

So in the very next day, there I was, once again. I was feeling a bit lost, but a good deep breath made me calm down.

As I opened the door to enter the classroom, I see everyone turning to my direction. The most people were shocked to see me there, especially Jade... but André and Beck were smiling.

The class quickly started, we had to do alphabetical improv, and I got to be the leader. I chose Cat, Beck and Jade. She lifted one eyebrow and got up. When she was walking towards us, Jade grabbed Beck and kissed him.

I rolled my eyes. Ew. How could a girl that pretty be with... that?

We started the exercise and it got to the point where we were fighting.

"Gosh, it... fainted!" I said, referring to Beck, who was playing an Alien who had just fainted.

"Excellent! Tori and Jade, keep going, the next letter is h!" Sikowitz commented

"Hey! Why don't you go jump off that cliff over there?!" Jade asked.

"I... think you should."

"Just where did you came from."

"Kangaroos"

"Blausing animals, kangaroos. They're awkward and dirty."

"Maybe they learned from you."

"No one talks to me like that."

"Obviously someone should!"

"Please run in front of a bus!"

"Quite obnoxious for you to say!"

"Really?!

"Sure was!"

"Thanks!"

"Up your nose I see boogers."

"Very clever."

"Wish you thought of it?"

And it continued until I eliminated Jade. The alien woke up and we continued.

"Get up, alien!" I said, helping Beck to get up.

"Head... feels dizzy."

"I know what it'll make to feel you better." I had the most brilliant idea of all time. If Jade cares that much about her boyfriend and started to hate me for no reason... I'll kiss him.

"Jumping Jacks?"

"Kiss me."

He thought for a bare second before replying. "Let's do it."

And then we kissed. Damn, he was a bad kisser. I imagined better.

I put on a fake smile which turned true just by Jade's expression.

"Man, I love this school."
