Work Text:
When Chay opened his eyes, he closed them immediately after the bright white light hit him. He could feel the pressure throughout his eyeballs as he pressed his top and bottom lash lines tightly together, and grumbled through his pursed lips. Suddenly, he felt a weight on his arms; well, it shouldn't have been considered a weight seeing as it was more of a whisper of skin against his grey sweatshirt.
He gently blinked his eyes open, furrowing his eyebrows together and pushing his bottom lip out into a pout. Thankfully someone dimmed the lights a little bit, so it was easier for Chay to get used to his surroundings. Brown eyes darted throughout the room, from left to right, coming to realisation that he couldn't recognise where he was. It probably has something to do with the stark white walls, a large monitor in the corner of the room, and the long counter covering one side of the wall, in addition to the sterile scent wafting through the entire room.
Chay looked down at his right arm, with his head drooping slightly, and attempted to move it only to become alarmed when his pointer finger twitched. He opened his mouth to sound out his panic, but his voice came out muffled and it was then he realised that it was because his mouth was stuffed with what felt like cotton.
Where am I? He was strapped (not strapped at all) onto a small bed (it was actually a dental chair), feeling like he got whacked over the head. He could feel his heart rate increase whilst his brain was swirling with all the worst case scenarios.
He felt the same sensation on his arm and he jumped when he saw a woman standing next to him. She had a soft smile painted on her face and she gently brushed her fingers against Chay's arm in an attempt to calm him down. "Hi sweetheart," she greeted with a soft voice, "you did a good job." A good job at what? "I'm going to get your boyfriend, so the surgeon can tell you both about the surgery and what to expect after."
Chay blinked in confusion. Surgery? He had surgery? For what? Then he processed the word "boyfriend." He had a boyfriend? When did that happen? He was trying to rack his brain for any romantic memory but it came to stop ten seconds in, and he tiredly sighed. The lady, who's name was Malee Wong, simply walked out of the room only to return a few minutes later. Once Chay focused on the man standing next to the oral assistant, all reasoning flew out the window and instead, he had his droopy, glazed eyes on someone he did not expect to see.
Wik was standing not even three metres away from him, and Chay had no idea how to act. He could barely manage a simple movement, but his eyes widened into large circles and he opened his mouth and let out a muffled "ah!"
The corners of Wik's lips lifted into a slight smile, and Chay's shoulders relaxed in a swoon-like manner. "So pretty," he spoke, but it sounded more like, "tho 'ry." Wik's chest puffed out as he let out a breathy huff.
After staring at Wik, the younger man recoiled back into his chair, causing the idol and the assistant to stop in their steps when they were walking to Chay's side. It felt like he had been doing manual labour for ten years straight with the way it took him to lift his hand and manoeuvre his fingers to point at Wik, much to the dismay of the assistant, who was telling him to take it easy.
"P'Wik!" he shouted, looking straight at his favourite idol. He then lost the strength that was keeping his arm up, causing it so drop onto the cushioned armrest. He didn't see the assistant rush to balance his arm so it wasn't wiggling around like a worm.
He snapped his head to the assistant, who jumped, because she wasn't expecting there to be, like, three centimetres of space between them, and asked, "am I dying?"
Her eyebrows rose so high, it looked like they were going to disappear into her hairline. Chay would normally laugh at that but he was more focused on himself dying.
The assistant, Malee, soothingly responded, "no no, sweetie, you're perfectly fine, why are you asking that?"
Okay now Chay was confused. If he wasn't dying then why was Wik even here with him? Wasn't he here to grace Chay with his presence after finding out that his biggest fan is sick and dying. Maybe Porsche was the one who told him. And now that he thought about it, where was Porsche?
“Hia,” Chay called out, although it sounded more like “ha.” He kept swinging his head from side to side, expressing his distaste in not being able to move and properly communicate. Especially when he wanted his brother, but Porsche wasn't here.
“Porsche isn't here,” Wik said from where he was standing. “He said that he and Kinn are going to come see you later today.”
Suddenly, Chay quieted down and he pressed his cheek to the head rest and both of the lucid individuals decided that Chay was completely zoned out and probably forgot what he was even talking about.
“As I mentioned earlier," she laughed lightly, patting Chay's shoulder before stepping back to type into the computer, "Porschay will be a bit confused and drowsy."
Kim nodded and walked towards Chay, pulling the chair by the counter to the dental chair. He took a seat at the opposite of the oral surgery assistant and reached out to caress his hair. The touch caused Chay to turn his head and once he realised that it was Wik sitting right next to him, his eyes widened comically and his mouth dropped into a perfect 'o'.
Chay opened his mouth to talk but he started to get frustrated with the gauze in his mouth and after pouting, he stuck his hand in his mouth to pull it out. The second Kim witnessed that, he immediately went after his boyfriend, gently holding his wrist in his hand to pull his fingers from his mouth.
"You can't do that, angel," Kim whispered and Chay was more concerned with his idol keeping him from speaking properly rather than the sweet nickname.
He’s sick and dying and he's not even allowed to speak to his idol , who's here to see him? What is this? Who allowed this to happen?
With one hand, Kim kept his hold on Chay's wrist and with the other, he reached out to rub his thumb against Chay's pillow-like swollen cheek. He didn't want the younger man to be annoyed with him, even though he looked adorable when angry and had no idea what was going on around him.
Malee chuckled, causing Kim to look up at her. She had both her hands covered in gloves and in her right hand was a pair of tweezers. "It's okay, we're going to need to change the gauze before you two leave anyway. We might as well keep him happy for now, yeah?"
Her hand took Kim's place, and whilst gently removing his own fingers from his mouth, Malee clamped the gauze on one side of Chay's mouth and pulled it out, dropping it onto the tray next to her. She moved quickly, doing the same to the other side before stepping back with a smile on her face. "There, all done." She directed her gaze to Kim. "For now, just make sure that he doesn't bite the inside of his cheeks."
Kim nodded at the instructions and turned to his boyfriend. "Hi Chay," he greeted softly, "Porsche said that he and Kinn are going to come and visit you later today, but I'm here, okay? I missed you."
Chay frowned and lifted his finger, pressing it against Kim's nose. "P'Wik," he mumbled. Then he repeated himself, stretching the idol's name into syllables with every press of his finger. Kim only smirked and quickly snatched the oncoming finger in his grasp, eliciting a dramatic gasp from Chay. He gently brought their joint hands down.
“Chay, angel," Kim began, smiling when he could see Chay's glazed eyes try to hold onto the words he was saying. "It's me Kim, your boyfriend."
Suddenly, Chay's mind paused. Boyfriend. Boyfriend? This was his boyfriend? His boyfriend was a Wik look-alike?
He was brought out of his thoughts by a warm laugh. The man sitting next to him-no, his boyfriend-was shaking as he used the one hand that wasn't holding his to wipe the tear that leaked out from his eye. "No baby," he leaned back to pull out his phone and showed Chay his lock screen. It was of the both of them smiling at the camera, and in his arms was a small, fluffy dog.
"Doggy," he said, pointing at the bundle of fluff.
"Yeah, that's Moo Moo, we got him six months ago."
Chay pointed at himself, "my doggy."
Kim's eyes shone with amusement, "yeah, babe, he's your dog just like I'm your boyfriend. Wik is just a stage name." He proceeded to show him pictures from his photo album, ranging from simple domestic photos to ones where he and Chay were backstage at one of his shows. He particularly focused on one where Kim and Chay were standing next to each other with Kim's left arm around Chay's shoulders, gripping Chay's side possessively. Chay, in turn, had both of his arms wrapped around Kim and angled his head up to smile at him. Behind them was a lit up sign displaying "WIK" in big bright pink letters.
That seemed to do the trick, because Chay gasped, eyes darting to Kim from his phone and back. He kept going until it officially clicked and he shifted his whole body to Malee. "That's P'Wik, he's my boyfriend!"
She nodded, "I know."
Chay's eyes widened even further, "he is so handsome," he whispered. He failed at being quiet since Kim snorted but he didn't even notice.
She giggled, "he is."
She literally agreed with him yet he narrowed his eyes and pinched his nose. "He's my boyfriend. Mine ."
Kim and Malee shared a humorous expression as they glanced at each other. Kim leaned forward to gently clasp Chay's chin between his index finger and thumb, to bring him to his line of sight. "I think she gets it angel," Kim murmured, his fingers trailing over his full pout.
That was when the oral surgeon came in, explaining what to expect post-surgery, normal symptoms, what to do, what not to do, before heavily recommending to call if something went wrong.
Kim was listening to the doctor intently, taking in everything seriously whilst Chay was chilling in his heavily induced mind, staring at Kim with bright red heart-eyes.
He's so pretty, Chay thought, smiling goofily. Pretty eyes, pretty hair, pretty nose, pretty ears, and his nostrils are even pretty. He gasped, leaning forward to catch a better view. How are they perfectly symmetrical? Unfair, he pouted and then perked up when he realised that the perfect specimen in front of him was his boyfriend.
My boyfriend, P'Wik is my boyfriend. Wow, I rule.
Out of nowhere, Malee softly placed her gloved hand onto Chay's shoulder, bringing him down so his back was snug against the backrest. Chay turned to face her, his lips pushed out into a full pout since she interrupted his hot-boyfriend-gazing-time. She only smiled and instructed him to open his mouth, which he did, so she could put new gauze.
"Thank you," she said, and pressed the button by the chair so it moved into an upright position. She pursed his lips to stop herself from grinning at Chay's surprised gasp and wide eyes as he angled his face down to the ground to see himself moving. She held onto his shins and with the help of Kim, they manoeuvred his legs over to the right side of the chair. "You've been such a great patient," she grinned and then leaned closer, covering one side of her mouth with her hand to mimic a whisper. "Don't tell anyone, but you're my favourite."
Hearing her words, Chay's mouth fell open, giving a full view of cotton. He shakingly lifted his hands to cover his mouth and let out a loud "shh!" causing spit to fly out around him. He didn't even notice and instead, smiled widely, well as much as he could with the stitches and gauze.
She moved back so Kim could get into Chay's line of sight, and the older man reached out to hold Chay's armpits to pull him up and onto the wheelchair next to them. "Up we go, angel." When they got to the parking lot, Kim quickly unlocked his Acura NSX and opened the door before pulling up Chay again and into the backseat of the car. It was a hot car but safe for the driver and passengers, and Kim would never put Chay in danger. He had already adjusted the seat beforehand, so it was easy to plop his boyfriend in and strap the seatbelt around him.
Chay did not look pleased over Kim being far away from him but a one lingering kiss on the forehead kept him at bay throughout the drive until they arrived home.
Kim wrapped his arm under Chay's arms to hold him up as they walked at snail's pace to the entrance. Chay seemed like his body parts were not working at the same level so his upper body would lurch forward whilst his legs stayed back.
That was until Chay came to a full stop, making Kim lose his balance for a split second before getting a hold of himself and Chay by tightening his grip on his waist. He turned to look at his boyfriend who was putting most of his weight on him. Chay turned his body as well, so his front was pressing up against Kim's side, tucking his head into the older man's neck.
"What's up, baby?" Kim murmured, brushing his curls with the tips of his fingers.
Chay raised his head and mumbled, "carry" before dropping his forehead onto Kim's shoulder.
Kim sighed, raising his empty arm to rub Chay's back. His eyes skimmed the younger man's profile. His boyfriend was clearly exhausted, judging by his droopy eyes and dark and slightly swollen under-eyes. He could barely move on his own, but that could be because of the drugs. It would be best to get Chay into bed sooner than later, so he could take a quick nap.
And plus, there were worse things than carrying his boyfriend around. So with a playful smirk, Kim bent down slightly so his hands could reach around Chay’s thighs so he could gently pick him up without jostling him. “Wrap your arms around me,” he murmured and Chay only huffed, stretching his upper body forward to enclose his arms over Kim’s shoulders tightly.
The walk to the elevators was relatively quick and simple seeing as they went through the side entrance of the building. He had already fished his key card out to tap it against the sensor by the door, making it easy to go inside without prying eyes. Once they were on the floor of the penthouse, a guard was standing by the door. When he saw Kim, he stepped back, giving him access to quickly remove his right hand from Chay, putting all the weight on his left arm, to press it against the palmlock, before returning it to its original system. Once a click was heard, the guard pushed the door open, allowing the couple inside.
The door clicked behind them once the guard went back to his post, signalling that they were now alone. Eyeing their space, Kim noticed how quiet it was in their penthouse, because usually when either one of them walked through the door, Moo Moo was there, waiting for them. He was a good puppy, pretty much fully house trained. He didn't bark much unless something was really wrong or he was really excited, but whenever he saw his parents, he would let out happy pants and circle around their feet until they would kneel and shower him in kisses. Moo Moo was probably sleeping.
Kim didn’t have to look at Chay to know that he was most likely sleeping, so he went to their room and with his hand on the back of Chay’s neck, he rolled him down onto the mattress. He couldn’t help the smile on his face seeing the peace on Chay’s face, with his relaxed body and how his head was dropped to the right against the memory foam pillow, making his fluffy cheek push out even more.
His pink button nose was scrunched up slightly and his full lips were pushed out and twitching ever so slightly. Chay's hair was definitely a mess on top of his head, with the strands facing in all different directions from moving around so much and laying down. The left side of Kim's mouth twitched upwards as he bent down to pull Chay's sneakers off of his feet, and, carefully, lifted his legs to unravel the blankets that were laid over the bed. After covering his boyfriend with the plush comforter, Kim leaned forward to brush his own fingers against Chay's forehead before pressing a feather-light kiss on his forehead.
Chay could use some sleep.
—
Kim’s eyelids automatically lowered themselves, imitating a mechanical curtain, giving view of only the bottom half of his iris. He was standing against the kitchen counter, with the cool marble bleeding into his skin through his hoodie. One socked foot on the floor and the other flat against the bottom cabinets, Kim's posture seemed relaxed as anyone else in their home, however, with his sharp jaw even more prominent with the TM joints clenched and his white knuckles over the counter, gave away that he was anything but.
All he wanted was to make soup for Chay. A nice steaming broth filled with sharp and spicy aromatics of ginger and garlic, soft vegetables to get all the nutrients that he needed to help him feel better, and the warmth to make his overall self feel better. Plus, it was easy for him to eat.
Kim just wanted to take care of his boyfriend, but no , his brother and his boyfriend (also Chay's brother) decided to show up and ruin his plans. (Not really, the soup was simmering away on the stove top; Kim just didn't want to be around the older pair.)
“May I help you?” Kim bit out, his upper lip curled up into a snarl, directing his glare to Kinn and Porsche. The couple stopped their cutesy bickering when they heard the annoyance protruding from the youngest man. They separated themselves, just barely, with Kinn's right arm around Porsche's slim waist and the latter having his golden hand on Kinn's chest. With the way Porsche blinked at him and the way Kinn tilted his head, Kim was sure that they were in their love bubble and completely forgot that Kim was even there.
When Kim's attitude was absorbed into Porsche's brain, he flared his nostrils out and narrowed his eyes in annoyance. “ I ,” he emphasised, “would like to see my brother. Is that okay?” He asked the question sarcastically.
Kim rolled his eyes, “he's sleeping, but I'll try to wake him up.” He glanced at the extravagant wall clock which was ticking away. It was already early afternoon, and Chay definitely needed some food in him. He could always sleep after. Plus, maybe he'll be happier to be woken up after seeing his brother.
So, he went inside their bedroom and found Chay where he had laid him, the younger man not moving at all during his two hour nap. Kim took a seat on the small empty spot next to Chay, leaning forward to brush his fingers through his hair. With his free hand, he took Chay's in his own, bringing it to his mouth to press soft kisses against.
“Angel,” he murmured, his breath fanning against his boyfriend's skin. “Come on, baby, time to wake up.” With every word he said, he gave a kiss. He continued his ministrations until the man in question slowly blinked his eyes open. Kim softly smiled at Chay, who was looking at him in awe and in love, the two emotions blurring together in his sleep-filled eyes. The sight alone made Kim's chest tighten in warmth. How he loved Chay with his whole being.
Chay slowly blinked before closing his eyes and pressing one side of his face against the pillow. Kim brought his open palm to his mouth and kept on pressing kissing, smooching noises becoming louder and more obnoxious as time went on. Chay's brown eyes this time shone in annoyance when he realised that Kim was not going to leave him to continue on with his beauty sleep.
So he pouted at him, not feeling the energy to actually speak. He also had gauze peeking out from the corners of his mouth, framed by his cracked and dry lips. “Up we go, angel,” Kim whispered, pushing his hand between the back of Chay's neck and the pillow to get a firm grip when he pulled him into a sitting position.
When he let go to hold onto his hands to pull up off the bed, Chay plopped his upper body onto Kim's, with his cheek leaning onto his boyfriend's shoulder. Kim immediately wrapped both arms around him to keep him upright. His body was bone-deep exhausted, that was for sure.
Kim sighed, as much as he would prefer to have Chay eat in their bed, he knew that when he came back to feed him, he would already be fast asleep. So, he had to go for plan B. “I'll carry you to the couch, okay?” Chay didn't verbally affirm nor did he move; his answer came in the form of a soft huff, and that was all the confirmation Kim had needed to scoop Chay up. He had one arm fastened under Chay's thighs and the other one around his back, and he strolled into the living once he softly instructed Chay to secure his arms around his neck.
When Kim made his way into the living area, by the soft brushing against his ankles, he assumed that Moo Moo had come out to greet his fathers. Finally he settled Chay into the single loveseat, and the moment he made contact with the plush material, he fell limp against it although his eyes were open. Well barely but open. Kim took a seat on the armrest, reaching to pull Chay closer to him and the younger man obliged.
“Look who's here to see you, angel.” At that, Chay darted his eyes to the couch across from him and Porsche’s entire posture perked up and his smile basically took over his entire face when Chay fixed his gaze on him. He was waiting for his baby brother to be so joyful over his presence that he didn't expect him to be staring at the person behind him: Kinn.
“Who's that?” Chay asked, lifting up his arm so quick and immature that he almost smacked Kim in the face with his elbow. With his stuffed mouth, his question sounded more like, “huh duh?” so at least his pointing answered everyone else's confusion.
Porsche slowly turned his head until he came face to face with a perplexed Kinn. The man who had all of Chay's attention, sweetly answered his question, in a soft tone that seemed to be only reserved for his boyfriend's little brother.
“Hi nong, remember me?” He grinned and Chay's mouth dropped slightly open. Wow, so many perfect teeth. “I'm Kim's brother, we're best friends!” Porsch snorted at his boyfriend's statement and Kim glared at his brother. But Chay preened, and was about to speak and became annoyed when he couldn't properly speak. Like this morning, he put his hand in his mouth to pull out the gauze.
And again, just like the morning, Kim reached out to stop him. “Okay, baby, we're going to take it out, okay. Just wait a minute for me.” He then turned to ask the older pair to retrieve a glove. He quickly slipped it on and opened Chay's mouth to pull out the gauze before pulling the end of the glove over his fingers and covering the cotton. “Make sure he doesn't spit,” he ordered Porsche as he went to the kitchen to throw it out and wash his hands.
He came back to find Chay in a better mood, and although he liked to believe it was because he was able to speak more freely, the churning in his stomach opposed that thought and instead, kept poking at the realisation that Chay was absolutely enamoured with Kinn's presence. Gross.
“Hi,” Chay greeted cutely and Porsche cooed, kneeling next to him to hold his hand, and even Kim felt his mouth twitching. His boyfriend really was too cute for his own good.
“How are you feeling, Chay?” Kinn asked, sitting down at the end of the couch, seeming genuinely concerned over Chay's well-being.
However, the man in question didn't answer him but instead kept staring. Kim had no idea how he managed to go that long without blinking. Finally, Chay parted his lips but instead of answering Kinn, he said, “you're hot!”
Kim felt himself become stiff all over, and immediately glared at his brother. If his heated expression had any power, Porsche would find himself single because the ground would have opened up and swallowed Kinn whole.
Porsche, on the other hand, threw his head back laughing until his voice became silent and all there left was consistent wheezing. He then lifted his head from the armrest with tears in his eyes whereas Kinn facial expression was synonymous with someone who won the lottery.
He then made eye contact with his younger brother who was glowering at him. He raised both his eyebrows and arm in mock defence. “It's not my fault that nong is telling the truth.”
Kim narrowed his eyes even more and tried to fight his body from reacting to Chay's giggles.
“Sorry to break it to you,” began Porsche, patting the side of Chay's face gently and kissing it right after, “but Kinn is taken.” Then he added, “by me.”
Suddenly, Chay drew his head back with the centre of his eyebrows and nose wrinkled. The corners of his mouth were pulled down dramatically, and he genuinely looked upset hearing the news that Kinn was, in fact, not single. But he apparently forgot he wasn’t single either. He swerved his head up to blink up at Kim three times and looked back at Kinn when a smile stretched his face.
“Hia,” he mumbled, “I have P’Kinn.”
Well, that’s not what anyone was expecting. Kinn had his eyebrows raised, but Kim could see the twitch of his facial muscles. Well, at least he was enjoying this, Kim thought. He could not believe that he was being cast out to his brother could replace him. The idea almost made him vomit.
Porsche was just amused, because he knew that lucid Chay would never give up Kim voluntarily. “Well,” he dragged out, “if you take Kinn, then you have to give me Kim.”
The dreamy expression on Chay’s face disappeared into an angry glare, making him resemble an angry chipmunk more than anything else. He wrapped both of his arms around Kim’s one arm. “No. No! P’Kim is mine! My boyfriend!” His pout became more and more pronounced at every word, totally believing Porsche that he was going to take Kim away from him. “I don’t want P’Kinn anymore.”
On second thought, Kim was fine. He knew that he couldn’t lose to Kinn, and his smug smile said all that he needed to.
“Don’t worry babe, I’m all yours.”
Chay huffed through his nose. “All mine.”
“Let’s get some food in you.” Kim hopped off the armrest to head to the kitchen and Porsche stood in front of Chay to help him up and move him to the couch so it would be easier for the person who would be feeding him. Chay happily gasped when he stood up to launch himself into his brother’s arms. Being as exhausted as he was, he lost balance and almost fell back into his original seat. That wouldn’t have been an issue if Moo Moo hadn’t jumped onto the cushion.
Porsche hooked his arms under Chay’s armpits to keep him steady. “Let’s try not to fall on Moo Moo.”
“Moo,” Chay mumbled, nestling his nose into Porsche’s chest, causing the older man to smile and guide him to the couch where he all but plopped down like a limp noodle. His eyes peeked out from Porsche’s shoulder, trailing after his dog, who toddled to the kitchen to see his other father.
He sighed content in his brother’s arms and smiled at Kinn to placed himself in front of Chay, taking a seat on the coffee table.
Kim came back with a steaming bowl of soup, shoving Kinn with his elbow to move over, and Chay looked absolutely mesmerised at the dish in front of him.
“Be careful babe,” Kim warned, “it’s really hot.” He kept lightly blowing onto the spoonful so it would be cool enough for Chay to eat.
“Hot,” Chay repeated, his shiny Bambi eyes on Kim, “like you.” Kim smirked at Porsche’s disgruntled expression. “You should take your shirt off.”
Well, no one was expecting that.
“Chay!” Porsche chided and the younger man’s eyes widened as realisation hit him. He turned to his brother and loudly said, “I didn’t say that!” before turning to make eye contact with Kinn, whispering (failing terribly), “P’Kim should take his shirt off.” Kinn seemed to be enjoying this a lot, because he patted Chay's hair gently and nodded his head enthusiastically, teasing his younger brother.
Kim rolled his eyes in annoyance at Kinn but his expression immediately softened when they rested on his boyfriend.
“I’ll take it off when we go to sleep, angel,” Kim answered, gently prodding Chay’s mouth open with the spoon and smiled when he obeyed dutifully.
Soon after eating, Chay felt his eyes closing and he was out like a light. Porsche was in the bathroom, so it was Kim and Kinn alone with Chay. The youngest Theerapanyakun huffed as he scooped his sleeping boyfriend in his arms and ordered Kinn to follow him into their shared bedroom. “Hold onto the back of his neck whilst I put him down.”
Kinn grinned mischievously. “You seem like you’re doing fine all by yourself.”
Kim glared, “shut up,” he barked (in a whisper because he didn’t want to wake Chay up). “He’s light but not as light as Venice, and I don’t need his neck to snap backwards.”
Kinn only sniggered at his younger brother as he held onto the back of Chay’s neck once his lower body was settled onto the mattress, carefully bringing his upper body to follow. Kim pulled the covers over his body, making sure that there wasn’t a spot left uncovered. He smiled, gently rubbing the back of his fingers against his boyfriend’s cheek before placing his lips on the warm skin for a small kiss.
Chay was definitely a handful, but it’s a good thing that he’s cute.
