Turning to the next page, Phayu ignores the off handed comment Prapai makes about the last set of photos. He isn’t really sure what his friend is prattling on about, but figures it something stupid and not worth the attention. Looking at the new page, Phayu scrunches his brows in confusion.
The photograph in front of him paints a memory he does not initially recognize. Squinting at it for a moment, Phayu eventually realizes that it's from their trip to Korea; the one they took with Pai and Sky a few years ago. The photo was taken from the aisle and shows Rain cuddled with Phayu. It shows Rain leaning his back into Phayu’s side with his knees pulled in close. Phayu had wrapped his arm around Rain and was resting his chin on top of the boy’s head.
Initially, the photo brings a smile to Phayu’s face, remembering the warmth of Rain cuddling into him. But then he remembers the whole ordeal of just getting on to the flight and he holds back a groan.
——
“Phiii, Phiiii,” Rain drawed out the honorific, the excitement evident in his voice. “P’Phayu! We're gonna have to visit the optical illusion museum, Trick Eye, when we get there. Oh, and the Coex Aquarium! And I would really like to see you in a Hanbok Phi!” Rain's voice lowered at the last part with a glint in his eyes.
Phayu couldn’t help doing anything but look fondly at his boyfriend while the younger rambled on about all the sights to see and things to do.
Sky could be heard groaning in the background, earning a pout filled glare from Rain.
“It’s not even 7AM, Rain. Please, please calm down.” Sky complained with a yawn leaning on Prapai who was acting like a pillar for his sleepy boyfriend.
“Come here sweet boy,” Phayu tugged Rain towards him. Not wanting to admit that he was a bit nervous about flying, Phayu was particularly thankful for his boyfriend's lively distraction while they waited in line.
Despite Pai’s offer to use his family’s private jet, the group had opted to take a commercial flight. When Prapai first brought up the idea, Sky had given his boyfriend such a judgemental look that Prapai had withdrawn his offer as soon as he presented it.
Which led to the group waiting in the security line at Bangkok's International Airport, for their getaway to Seoul for a couple’s getaway.
With Rain's Korean background and interest in K-pop, Seoul had been an easy choice for him. Phayu wasn’t sure what had drawn Sky to Korea, but it wouldn’t surprise him if Rain had something to do with it. From there it hadn’t taken a lot of convincing to get Prapai onboard; the forever whipped man had just wanted to spoil his boyfriend with a trip.
That left Phayu. Not wanting to disappoint his boy Phayu decided to brace himself for flying. It wasn’t his first time on a plane, not even the first time leaving the country, but that didn’t make it easier. Phayu was not one for airplanes. He preferred cars and bikes. The safety of having the wheels on the ground. To be the one in control.
Acting as the group's personal trip advisor, Rain led everyone through the security check. He made sure that they all prepared their carry-ons so that it would go as smoothly as possible. Phayu had overheard Rain more than once complain about how much he hated people who held up the line at security because they weren’t prepared for the check. The boy had vowed he wouldn’t let their group be an issue.
Once they reached the gate, Phayu’s nerves had finally caught up to him. Why did he agree to do this?
Under the disguise of “being careful Rain didn’t get overly excited and lost” Phayu held his boyfriend close. If Rain had known the real reason he didn't let it show. Instead Rain seemed more than content snuggling up to his slightly taller boyfriend.
When they finally had boarded the plane, Rain insisted that Phayu take the window seat. The access to the window would let Phayu look out during the flight and feel less uncomfortable. The gesture didn’t really make flying any better, Phayu still didn’t like it, but it was better than the aisle seat, that’s for sure.
Although Sky had refused to let Pai splurge on something as ludicrous as flying on a private plane, Pai managed to get everyone to agree to let him buy the extra seats in their rows. That way they didn’t have to deal with sitting with strangers during the flight. That was something Phayu was thankful for.
The safety instructions passed by in a blur and before he knew it, they were up in the air. When the seatbelt light finally went dark, Rain was quick to rearrange how he was sitting. Rain loosened his seatbelt and removed his shoes before he raised the armrest separating him from Phayu. With all in place, Phayu watched as Rain lifted his feet so that they rested on the empty chair and Rain moved so he faced the aisle, and leaned back into Phayu and cuddled up. Phayu wrapped his arm around Rain’s chest, so he could hold him..
The closeness soon lulled Rain into a deep sleep, one that Phayu quickly relaxed into as well. All in all, it made the flight much more comfortable and bearable.
——
"You two were just so cute, I couldn't resist taking a photo," Pai teases. "I bet Rain didn't even notice how airsick you usually get, all curled up like that."
Phayu rolls his eyes, though Rain perks up at the comment. "Airsick? Do you not like flying, Phi? Why didn't you tell-"
Behind them, Phayu can hear Sky groan as Phayu shuts Rain up with a kiss. Flying will never be his favorite activity, but getting to see more of the world through Rain's eyes is worth it.
