Work Text:
❝What walks on four legs in the morning?❞
The sun is strong after the rain.
You feel your vitals coming to life after a long slumber.
Your tail curls around the egg by your side, small and warm.
The clouds brew in the near distance, and you smile.
❝And two legs in the afternoon?❞
You run amok, the wind beating endlessly against your form.
It's beautiful outside. Eventually you stuff your belly full of nutrients.
The knowledge that it will end up empty anyways stuffs your mind full of grief.
The world spins around you. You hear the buzzing deep within the core of the planet.
The karma gate rumbles under your feet, and you are enveloped in a cloud of smoke.
❝What walks on three legs in the evening?❞
Something wicked this way comes.
The clouds crackle endlessly above you. You make your way underground.
The egg, once lost, returns to your side.
You clutch it like a lifeline. It's the only thing you have.
Wide eyes flicker towards a shelter.
❝And no legs in the night?❞
You dream of darkness.
Deep, deep darkness.
And then the blinding light.
It consumes your body; consumes your soul.
A comforting thought before the cycle repeats once more.
