In my Heart is a Christmas Tree Farm

Summary:

It is that time of year again for Nick and Charlie to go the Christmas tree farm and pick out their Christmas tree.

Prompt: Christmas Tree

Notes:

Hi I'm back! This is a prompt challenge with my friends and today is my day. It is also Taylor Swift's birthday so of course I had to turn this into swiftmas. I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Nick was very excited about today. He was up before Charlie and started making breakfast. He wanted to make Charlie’s favorite chocolate chip pancakes, but made them into little Christmas trees. He then made some sausage to go along with it and cut the strawberries into little hearts. When Charlie woke up he took a quick shower and joined Nick in the kitchen.

“Morning”

“Morning”

“Did you sleep well?”

“Yeah”

“I made your favorite chocolate chip pancakes.”

“Aww these are adorable, Nick!”

“Are you excited for today?”

Charlie hummed in agreement. Today they were going and picking out their Christmas tree. It was a tradition every year. They bring Daisy along because she helps when Charlie gets overstimulated and they do a family photo. Charlie didn’t love the tree farm because it was always very busy and the smell of trees wasn’t his favorite, but he loved spending time with his finance. Before they headed out they opened up day 13 of their advent calendars. Nick had a Bluey one and Charlie had a Frozen specifically Frozen 2. Nick got a Lucky sticker and Charlie got a Bruni figurine.

“You ready to go, love?”

“Yep, I just need to grab my loops and Daisy harness.”

Charlie grabbed his essentials and everything he needed for Daisy and they headed to the car. They loved this Christmas tree farm because it was to be modeled after Taylor Swift. Nick drove and since it was Taylor’s birthday Charlie put on her Christmas music starting off with “Christmas Tree Farm.” They sang all the way there.

Once they got there Charlie put in his loops. Thankfully it wasn’t too busy because they were there early in the morning, but there were still quite a few people and a lot of kids. Nick helped Daisy out of the car and decided to head to the picture part first. Every year they did a picture there with the two of them and Daisy and put it on the tree. The place turns it into an ornament and they give one to Sarah. Now that Nick is a teacher he puts the silly one on the tree and gets one framed and puts it on his desk.

They headed to the backdrop and put the reindeer antlers on Daisy and took off their coats so their Christmas jumpers were showing. The photographer took their photos and once they were done they picked their favorites so they could be put into a frame and turned into ornaments.

Once they got back outside they started looking for a tree. They had to get two, one for their house and one for Nick’s classroom. Due to his students' allergies it had to be fake, but thankfully they had a section for fake ones. They started looking around and of course Daisy got the zoomies. So Charlie took her to the dog area and let her get the zoomies out while Nick picked out the tree.

Nick texted Charlie once he found one.

“What about this one?”

“Oooo I love it and I think Daisy loves it too.”

Daisy immediately started sniffing it and licking it. Nick took the small ax they were given and chopped it down and put in the protective bag. He then carried the tree. Charlie started getting all flustered. Even if Nick only coaches rugby now, he still has strong rugby arms. Charlie loved his arms so much.

“Are you blushing, Mr. Spring?”

“Me never.”

“Oh you totally are.”

“No I’m not see Daisy agrees," the flustered boy said as Daisy wagged her tail.

“Oh how I would kiss you, but I have to carry this tree with my strong rugby arms.”

They both laughed and went inside. Charlie helped pick out the fake tree and they settled on a pastel rainbow tree. Nick knew his students would love it. They went to the checkout and got the ornaments and picture. One of the workers helped them get the tree in the car and helped tie the real one on the top of the car. On the way home they listened to folklore and evermore. As they drove they went through a Christmas light display which Charlie loved because it was a nice visual stim.

Once they got home Nick carried in the tree and Charlie let Daisy play in the snow. They left the rainbow tree in the car, so Nick could bring it to work. Once they were both inside Nick made them hot chocolate and Charlie got out the bin of ornaments. They put on the era tour movie because it came out today to watch at home. They spent the rest of the night in each other's company and put the ornaments on the tree. The last one they put on was their personal favorite, the family photo.
