Chapter Text
Alador met Odalia when they went to Hexide together. At one point there was love, but as time went on Alador noticed her dwindling affection towards him as her influence and power grew. Alador loved Odalia and would have done anything for her. She wanted in the Abomination Coven, so he helped her in, she wanted children, so he obliged, she wanted wealth, so he built everything she told him to. Over the last several years, recently after Amitiy’s birth, the projects became more and more demanding. He was constantly sleep deprived and began to grow resentful of his wife. He believed she still loved him though, he would just have to find a way to break the news gently that he needed to slow down.
Emperor Belos confiscated every single one of their new weapons and compensated the Blights with a hefty fund. The money was enough to satisfy Odalia, but Alador’s suspicion of the emperor grew. Alador was grateful to Odalia and the coven. He had always been provided for, but what did he get in return? Nothing but sleepless days and nights and the feeling of helplessness. He had no control over what happened to his own creations.
When he saw Amity's new friend in combat he was curious and impressed. Despite his sleepless, addled brain, Alador was no idiot. He remembered seeing the girl at the petrification ceremony and knew she was the Owl Lady’s apprentice. And the Owl Lady was openly defiant against the emperor. Would Edalyn and her powerful young apprentice try to overthrow the emperor? Would Amity side with Edalyn if it ever came to it? Would there be war? These thoughts worried Alador, and he knew there was one thing he could do in this time of growing tension.
Alador summoned every ounce of courage he had left to sneak out of the house one night when he was supposed to be working. Odalia would be asleep. All he had to do was sneak into the Emperor's weapon storehouse and cast the spell that would transfer his abomination's loyalty back to their creator. Then he would sneak out and go back home and no one would be the wiser. If there was no conflict, he had nothing to worry about. If the Emperor actually tried to use his army of abominations… Well, he would have to decide where his loyalties lied.
The weapons storehouse was heavily protected with magical locks. Alador snuck around the building to an inconspicuous access door and produced a pair of heavyset wire cutters. Good old fashioned tools got the job done without setting off any alarms. He cut his way through every metal lock and made his way into the expansive interior. There was his army of abominations, all lined up and standing dormant. He looked around the room and also saw a number of concerning looking weapons he had never seen before. He took a deep breath and began the spell. His hand glowed purple as he pointed it at the abominations.
Just then, every torch in the warehouse lit up. He heard a loud bang and whipped around to see the emperor’s little minion, Kikimora, had slammed open the door. Her hand was covered in a large metal gauntlet and she quickly raised it at Alador. He had no time to react before electricity burst from her fingertips and shot towards him. He fell to the floor as every muscle in his body seized. He gasped, briefly unable to breathe or cry out in pain. He regained his breath but the electricity continued to surround and shock him. He screamed and writhed. He rolled onto his stomach and was briefly able to push himself up, trying to raise his hands in submission. But Kikimora had no mercy for a traitor to the emperor. She smirked and continued her assault until he fell limp.
